- Hi everyone, this is the first video in what I plan to be a long series of what I find to be "top ten" in Planetside 2. This video focuses on my top ten weapons in Planetside 2. Please ignore the forward grip remark on the ghost. I forgot that straight pull bolt let's you scope in a bit faster and that FG increases weapon equip time slightly. For newer players, it's best to equip nothing until you build up the muscle memory to unscope unless in a totally safe situation (which you will learn is not often in PS2, especially for a CQC bolter!).

As an nc main, I consider your lack of recoil cheating.
about the cqc sniping without a straight pull. the reason its liked by many cqc snipers is that it lets you start aiming before its fully chambered letting you setup the shot right before being able to fire. its not a huge time save but it can get you that one last kill if you got spotted

My favorite - VE-LR Obelisk (vanu, scout rifle). Really fun)
I just recently bought AF-6 Shadow and my K/D went from around 1.1 to 2.5. It's not great at close distances, but I find that in my play style I like to keep medium distance and often lost those 1v1's. Now with this weapon and heavy assault I can take multiple enemies that are shooting at me. After 1100hrs on this game I finally found a weapon that is perfect for me.

Great list ! Even NC is my main faction, but i do have TR and VS account. My favorite VS weapon is definitely Lacerta.
I like this list. I'm a big fan of most of the default weapons on the 3 factions. Reaper DMR and NS-11A are also real nice.

while were on the topic what are in your opinion some pros and cons for each side considering the age old debatte over 1x or 2x zoom ?

I unlocked the Goose just a few weeks ago. The heat mechanic is nice not needing ammo but yeah, you have to pace yourself so it doesn't overheat BUT, the cooldown is the same as a reload so I don't find it a deterrence as I'm barely reloading. Also, I would pick the Pulsar LSW or SV88, the Maw or the Flare VS for Vanu over the Orion any day, especially over the NS 11M. Even with a grip on the LSW and SV88, you can still hip fire due to the high ROF. Orion is good only at 10-15meters. You can't engage anything with it beyond point hold distance within small contained areas and land headshots, especially needing to land them with "peekers" hiding behind boxes. The Orion first shot kick, sucks at least for me. When going up against Gauss and Carv players or trying to defend yourself running into a cap point while it's guarded from all sides, LSW and SV88 all the way. You can tag infuls easily with them to get them to back off. I use them all the time for every situation. Got the Goose by skipping the Orion.

Yes! Finally someone who appreciates the tanto. I use it with my light assault because I like to get high ground and take potshots and the hip fire even while flying is really good

2:42 for the pulsar C do you use a High velocity Ammunition or soft point ammunition?
It's one of the few guns where you can use either. For head clicking from afar (past 50m) I'd opt for HVA. You will never go wrong with SVA though on any automatic weapon though.
The video I needed, I hope this remains on meta as I'm not very well informed about that because I'm new player.
While there have been some major updates I'd say all these choices are still pretty meta. I'd recommend aiming down sights when u can except for high horizontal recoil weapons. When aiming down sights I usually opt for forward grip/flash suppressor, and soft point ammo with a 1 or 2 x sight depending on the feel I get with the gun. For cqc high horizontal recoil I'll decide whether to replace anything with short barrel or laser sight for good hipfire or consider extended mags if the gun is very weak without extra ammo.
Would the forward grip do anything to a semi automatic weapon such as the ghost, other than penalising you with a +0,1 sec equip time?

The pulsar c is a beast, my favorite weapon on LA by far. I also have infravision and love using the smoke under barrel launcher on it
Chaos build I like it. Pulsar C is one of the best vanu weapons out there.
commisioner is better than underboss? trying to choose which pistol to go for, can't decide whether I want faster firerate or higher dmg.. I feel like I'm decent at aiming, but close quarter being able to fire faster for bodyshot might be better. I'm lost
They both r great but most prefer commi. Underboss is best on heavy for some tho
I used to really love the canis but I feel like it got a nerf somewhere along the line since I came back to the game. That or I've just gotten old and slow.
I really like the commisioner but I like the underboss better just because my aim is just ok so the extra rounds per minute is a life saver
For the shotguns you said something about the Phobos having an extra pellet? Looking at the stats the Phobos has 10 and the Deimos has 11 with a less tight spread, so I'm confused.
Yeah I had it reversed unfortunately. For whatever reason I like the phobos more still, but in reality they r pretty much identical to most folks.
@@ApolloPS2 I'll have to "rent" both for a half hour, I can see the slightly tighter spread of the Phobos 'feeling' better.
how do you get the betelgeuse i dont see it in the shop?
Directive lmg. Unlocked by auraxium medaling (1160 kills on a weapon) 5 LMGs (normal guns - cosmetic reskins don't count). You can see the options in the directive subtab under missions.

Wouldnt the TR equivalent to the pulsar c be the cougar and not the t5?
They are very closely related, but the T5 AMC was introduced alongside the Pulsar C and AC-X11. It stands for T5 Automatic MARKSMAN Carbine and is the TR's premier long range carbine. The cougar was added to the game alongside the Zenith and Bandit back in 2014. Those 3 weapons were introduced to fill in the holes of each faction's carbine arsenal. For example, the zenith fits between the default solstice ve3 and vx6-7. I actually meant to give the zenith an honorable mention for being a competitive carbine, but had already filmed the voice recording lol. I Def see that both the cougar and t5amc share characteristics with the Pulsar C but don't appear to marry them together. This isn't surprising as TR is not known for competitive longer range weapons, and it is often better to go with an NS variant (NS-11C and NSX Tanto here unless u r married to the 167 damage model).
@@ApolloPS2 well yeah but the cougar fills the same role as the pulsar and does that job better than the T5, but hey its what ever
@@MikeP5830 The T5 is a nicer weapon to use than the HC1, the 143 damage model isn't bad at all when more of your shit hits the enemy. Plus if you get caught with your pants down at close range the T5 is more likely to save you, it's a more versatile weapon.

@@MikeP5830 It can, but it won't, and the TTK is basically the same even then, so you pick the weapon with better recoil, RoF, magazine size, etc
So I'm wondering why you would use a forward grip on the low optics bolts? Forward grips reduce horizontal recoil. But by the time you have un-scoped to re chamber the recoil would be reset. You literally only get the downside of longer un equip time when you need to switch to pistol.

I'm not sure the faction equivalents quite line up. Like the pulsar to t5 AMC. Plus the Blackjack has the extra pellet, not the uppercut

@@ApolloPS2 I mean uppercut is the tr equivalent of phobos, since its the deimos that has the extra pellet not the phobos
@@elias_rinne yeah I went off a spreadsheet that had it mixed up. I use shotguns on the order of "years" unfortunately so I took their word. Should've double checked in game.

What is the best assault rifle for TR?
TAR imo
For NS15M2 i recomend HVA bullet come faster to enemy and kill him before his bullets come to you.
HVA is better because of 125 minimum damage. Soft point isn't useful.
What are the best weapons that you recommend for NC currently? Thank you
I would say most of the defaults are good, but standouts would be gd7-f for carbine, gr-22 for assault rifle, tempest for smg, and SAW for LMG but the default is a good option is the SAW's recoil is too much.

Agree with the VX6-7/Lynx. With forward grip you can extend the range far beyond what the gun is supposed to be used for. Laser beam accuracy and silly fire rate.
I'd say today I go back and forth since carbines benefit from midair hipfire quite a bit. The new prevalence of icarus makes it a harder choice. The logic still holds firmly for something like the hv45 where the horizontal recoil is ass and since its an AR you are not benefiting from midair hipfire. Some SMGs would be the same except their low damage per magazine make extended mags a usual requirement.
what is the coolest looking armor in the game? i regret not playing this game i wish i didnt have a 2 year old to take care of when it launched
Auarxium directive armor is the best, otherwise I like the armor in one of the anniversary bundles. Forget the name but it comes with the other usual goodies.

Someone's in love with Vanu flare! Nice choices. I'll have to start using the Kuwa to see what it's about.
@@ApolloPS2 yes :) try it. Kuwa is absolute beast (more DPS in cqc than meta Lmg trio) for agressive style HA gameplay, and solid choice for engi an medic.

Look up ns-15 or go to the heavy assault loadout screen and scroll through the primary weapons.

I did try one of those CQ Bolt-Actions (Trial) at one time, but didn't like their slower ADS time. Sure, it's only slightly. But I'm pretty sure that anyone who have played for a while, can agree with me that even minor differences CAN make a big difference.

I'm definitely more of a fan of NS weapons than most folks. I also feel that since vanu weapons are either middle of the pack or off-the-wall unique, vanu players gravitate more towards the NS arsenal for sure.

I personally wouldnt agree with the NS-11A, as I find it to be quite lackluster compared to most other assault rifles in the game
I think it depends on what you like, I find it super consistent due to the manageable recoil. It's just extremely comfortable to play
TR gets access to the Sabr and Torq, so NS11A can't compete at medium range with those two.
750 hours into ps2 and i've never once used a hold breath key ;-;
I find the Bruiser and it's like to be better then the claw... Yeah, I'm weird...

I play on Steam but my HUD looks different
In the game options there r two options for hud, I believe this one is centralized. Also I use recursion stat tracker that gives me a crosshair at all times and a kill feed in addition to other session stats that don't discount revives like in game KDR does.
It's a free program that is approved for use by the PS2 devs and is commonly used.

The Pulsar C equivalent is the Mercenary, not the ACX. The ACX kind of sucks.

For weapons that you should buy with cash instead of certs, I think gear that gives the most bang for your buck should be prioritized:
1. Commie/Underboss/Pilot
2. Punisher
3. Decimator
4. Second Burster Arm/Skyguard
5. NS-15m
6. NSX Amaterasu
7. Archer
8. L100 Python AP
9. Spitty
10. Emissary
Good list. I think there's a drop-off after maybe #8 but yeah you can make pretty good use of everything else as long as you've already identified u like playing those classes/roles.

@@realsecrets1 I'm biased since I no life vanu and have the most certs on Emerald VS, so my answer is no if u plan on aligning to a certain faction. It can be a good way to play with multiple outfits if u r more into the social aspect of the game however.

Lots of NS. I've heard good things about the Kuwa as well but haven't gotten the chance to use it so I can't speak to the NSO specific weapons.

Ghost/tsar/sasr r sniper rifles 😀 main benefits being no scope sway and quick rechamber time. Ignore the comment recommending forward grip as mentioned in description.

Keep on mind I main VS. Many of the faction equivalent weapons (especially NC) are noticeably better imo than what VS offers.

Is this advice still relevant?
In general yes. Arsenal update came through so guns have new attachments but it's mostly about having more options rather than new meta choices. I do intend to do a refresh of this video in early 2023 though.
