Maybe I just saw things the wrong way but I wonder how many casuals are actually in those poles compared to the hardcore community. I’m not saying the campaign shouldn’t be focused on but I just have a feeling that the majority of casual players like multiplayer more and a developer has to cater to the largest part of the community which I would assume is the casual player base.

    I´d say, keep the Halo Infinite multiplayer alive, and let another team working from now on on campaign based Halo titles.
    And for every released campaign title let it translate its features into the Halo Infinite multiplayer.

    Halo has always been a multiplayer game and a story driven narrative to pick one over the other is insane it should be both both should be focused on equally like let’s have a halo game that actually fully comes complete at launch that’s fun to play instead of the live service crap that we have now tbh 343 shouldn’t have halo anymore last great halo game was reach the 343 era just hasn’t had the spark never will in my opinion granted infinite multiplayer is great runs great but it just doesn’t have the spark that halo always had prior to 343 i think halo is now a dying ip never thought that would happen but genuinely halo just isn’t halo anymore

Birthday party sleepovers while having a LAN connection to play Slayer on Blood Gulch is a premium memory of mine. But also completing Halo CE on the legendary difficult was also a proud moment. I would definitely love this strategy if they are able to pull off projects like Halo 3 ODST which was a great gem for its time in the Halo universe. They need to hand the campaign to someone who is serious about the lore, the characters, and expanding on the story. The cinematic aesthetic needs to be gritty, industrial, military, and mysterious, inviting you to explore a bit. No grapple, no charge or ground pound. But the characters and team needs to make you feel attachment and if they die, make you feel the loss. There needs to be blood again. And for the love of god no DEI or sweet baby anything. Just follow the lore.

    I do think that most of 343i will be focused on Halo multiplayer going forward. If done right at launch, they would get a long stream of revenue and people will talk and interact with the franchise more regularly and longer compared to if they launched a single linear singleplayer campaign. 343i basically laying off a lot of the campaign team early last year shows this mindset for them.
    They could still have a small campaign team when it comes to the direction of it with most of the work being put on Certain Affinity and other studios. This would be kind of similar to publishing projects like Halo Wars 2 but with them more involved creatively. And just with partnered titles in general, they of course won't stretch themselves too thin, so we still won't see regular spinoffs.
    Also, 343i ditching the expensive Slipspace for Unreal Engine makes sense if they're just trying to make a content heavy game (to fix on the mistakes of Halo Infinite and previous leadership). UE5 is built first for Fortnite, and it allows them to get more support from Xbox studios and assimilate contractors/support studios into their teams faster.

    @Nope_youre_wrong Месяц назад +3

    So as a massive halo fan myself, I have some thoughts on this video. First and foremost, I don’t think 2026 is the last chance. I don’t think there will really ever be a last chance. Every single time the community gets fed up with halo and 343, and videos like this one get made, the series just continues to sell. When halo four came out, the backlash was enormous, yet that game out sold all of the previous entries except for halo 3. And then when halo five got announced, and the beta came out, there was backlash, yet it became the fastest selling Xbox one game of all time, and is currently sitting in the top 10 for most sold Xbox one games ever. Same thing with halo infinite, game comes out, game gets a ton of media backlash, and game still puts up impressive numbers. People will just keep buying it because it’s halo. And don’t get me wrong, I do believe that all of the 343 made games have flaws. I also think the bungie made games have flaws too. It’s also worth noting that lately. Xbox themselves have been posting a shit ton of halo content on Twitter and Instagram. If you go to any one of the comment sections on those videos, you’ll see tons of fans, praising Xbox for posting halo and begging them to continue doing it. The love for Halo is there, the demand for future installments is there. I don’t think the series is going anywhere. I do, however think it will be a long time until we hear about the next mainline installment because Microsoft undoubtably wants to take its time and get this one right because they’ve had three failures under 343s leadership. The community as a whole pretty much sums up the three mainline games from 343 this way, halo four had a good campaign, but a bad multiplayer and an uninteresting side mode. It’s also the Only 343 made halo game to launch complete. Halo fives campaign was bad, played well, but the story was not good and the marketing lied to everyone about the plot. The multiplayer, however, is regarded as the best of the best. And the Forge scene in that game was fantastic, that game did not launch complete. Halo infinite had a good campaign, a great bass multiplayer, and great features in the game. For once it seemed like 343 had nailed it. But then a few weeks after launch, it became abundantly clear that the game was lacking content, and the plan for content moving forward was lackluster. The 10 Year Plan for it quickly turned into them finishing the game and forgetting about it. Halo wars two is the only modern halo game that released finished and damn near perfect. Kind of funny considering that 343 didn’t even produce the game, they just own the license. The Master chief collection I don’t even need to bring up. We all remember what happened with that game. Granted it’s in an almost flawless spot now, it took them almost 8 years to get it there. I do have hope for the future of the series. That’s what halo was built on. Hope. Luck. Belief. It’s been pretty much confirmed at this point that there’s multiple halo games in active development. A spin off from certain infinity, the next mainline halo, and an FPS spinoff title from 343. And also a rumored halo one from the ground up remake. If all of these are true, then the future is pretty bright for the series. The last thing I want to say is that I’ve seen a lot of other content creators, panicking because halo was not at the Xbox event and it’s been a while since they have shown off anything new. It’s worth remembering that they originally planned for this game to run for 10 years so since they’ve had to backpedal, they’ve been making new games behind closed doors. They don’t have anything to show off and when you consider the fact that they probably weren’t planning on making an actual game per se for the next 10 years. They were probably going to dump story content into infinite because of the 10 Year Plan. Now that the 10 Year Plan is over and done with it kind of screwed up, their vision for the future but it seems like they’ve gotten everything straightened out behind closed doors. Hopefully in the next year or two, we hear something.

    In my opinion, the best strategy that Xbox could use (and maybe are using) for Halo's future would be to develop multiplayer and campaign games separately, similar to how Bethesda manages their franchises. By outsourcing multiplayer development to studios in Activision-Blizzard, the most experienced developers in the industry, 343 could easily shift focus to creating the singleplayer experiences that they are most known for and what their fanbase wants.
    Xbox will probably stick to the "10-year plan" for Infinite, but shifts in development can take years before we see tangible results. With Infinite's lack of financial success, it's no surprise that Halo isn't high on Xbox's priority list, as although people like to forget it, Xbox is still a business.

    Huh,this is actually pretty similar to what's going on with the Tales series.
    It's one of the best selling & oldest franchises Bandai has,yet it seems to be getting left behind,the last console spin-off game was ages ago,the latest entry already had a fair gap since the previous one mainly due too switching to a newer engine & a new entry hasn't had any real announcement.
    Ah damn man, it's not unknown that newer things replace older series & take the place of what once was there,Halo does indeed have a chance to possibly come back swinging but even if it does would that be enough to keep pace with the newer stuff,the older a franchise the more tricky it can be to get new fans & keep old one's,so if & when a series makes a come back like that,from what I seen it usually ends up becoming the last game for that franchise,a final hooray before the slumber.
    Hurts man,I better be proven wrong,I just got here.

    Canpaigns for sure, but i think a more accurate thing, they need to focus on making the game fun too. Campaigns from Combat Evolve to Reach, each of these campaigns have insane replayabilty, becuase the physics, gunplay, and level design verity we sweated on by the Old bungie devs. Those Vidocs that always mention the player choice, engagement from moment to moment, and the "why should the player care?" Details are what matter and what ultimately shine through in all those levels. Because they focused on what makes this canpagin, fun.

    developers were able to utilize UE3 much better than UE4 and UE5

    My thing with Halo is that it evolved with my childhood from halo CE to Reach and that's all i would play in my younger years, now ever since ive heard the word about 343i taking over the franchise after Reach and partnered on making the game things started going south. Now you're damn right its the campaign makes Halo of what it should be. But after all of my years I've spent with this franchise it started going south with H4, H5 more because of the bloodthirst of multiplayer was really going on during that time within that year. Here is when i decided to officially retire from Halo. All these promises and hearing our demands its been a huge let down for the community and it feels like we're just shouting at these developers on MAKE HALO GREAT AGAIN. But the problem right now is.. most of us are grown up now. But with all the issues that Infinite had and I chose not to play it anymore because of the lack of content, delays and the price tags they throw on for armor, emblems, weapon skins now and even friggin colors. That's not Halo in my eyes..
    When 343i did updates to Mcc it started to spark and gave me hope, then out of nowhere now they stopped updating left it as is. And now it seems the dying legends going out in dust now. And you got older players like me sticking around for that because its more fun than Infinite. But they just don't care it seems, at this point im done with Halo and 343i with their shenanigans so last game I played and will ever touch now was Halo: Reach on BtB Heavies on Headstrong. My final message to 343i: Touch grass.

    Halo as a first person shooter franchise has been outdated by call of duty with its quake or doom style gameplay. You can’t aim down sights, and there are no weapon attachments. To compete with modern FPS games they will have to add these features. The Doom reboot series is also flawed for the same reason, how many people you know play Doom Eternal multiplayer? People like weapon attachments, I sure do. Halo infinite got criticized for its mediocre graphics, and I actually wasn’t a fan of the open world sand box they made. The entirety of halo infinite’s campaign lacked a diversity in environments in which every halo game campaign had except halo ODST. Every halo campaign felt like a cool sci fi movie progressing the story to new locations and seeing bad ass moments like Master Chief dive onto an alien ship. Correct me if I’m wrong but I believed the creative director of halo infinite left 343 over what a debacle infinite was and I think Microsoft had some involvement. I think the next halo game will be a launch title for the new Xbox if it comes out in 2026-2028, with an emphasis on graphics since infinite got brute memes. The halo tv show series got a second season so I think they will really push the story. From a fictional point of view, infinite’s campaign was really one long halo campaign mission in master chief’s saga. As for multiplayer, I hope they add more than just cosmetics to unlock but weapon attachments that are visible. We got gun variants in halo infinite which is a slow start in the right direction. Finally, we need the ability to aim down sights for Halo to be endorsed by a generation that never played quake, doom, or combat evolved otherwise the multiplayer side of things will die out. Clearly halo infinite’s release was rushed, and Microsoft is avoiding this, taking their time to make the best Halo game ever and releasing a completed product. They had plenty of other titles to get people excited about in the mean time. Not really sure if 4 years is enough time to accomplish this, so I’m predicting the next Halo game to come out in 2027 or 2028 on future Xbox hardware. Microsoft told the FTC they plan to release a new console in 2028. Months after that there were leaks online about Microsoft releasing a console in 2026. Sony apparently plans to release the PS6 in 2028 so looks like Microsoft wants to beat Sony to the chase and compete with the switch 2 earlier on. In fact, there’s rumors of a Xbox handheld and I suspect Microsoft will announce it in 2025 in time for 2026. I think the handheld will be portable and can be docked to be played on a tv and will be the lower tier option to Microsoft’s next console. Other scenario could be that the rumored 2026 Xbox console is only the handheld and the next Xbox console comes out in 2028 which I’m more than okay with, I want the ultimate gaming console to run Halo!

      But also spin offs of different characters we have seen so far and show there story or what they will do. We differently need an arbiter game and a part two of the odst and we need a noble 6 game before reach.

    Halo’s relevancy is directly tied to its games. If the games are average, its relevancy will dwindle. None of the 343 games really “hit” and the show is bad, so people lose interest. Cyberpunk show was good, and so was the game. Fallout show was good, and so was the game.
    Make good products and people will show up. Make mediocrity, and your franchise will fall into irrelevancy.

I don't just love the game Halo I love the books and even with the books it just feels like they're running out of stuff to discuss. And I think that's the fundamental problem with the campaigns The storylines are just weak. The story has been told The covenant was defeated. Can't just keep going from one splinter cell group to another splinter cells group with weak ass story lines in the same enemies over and over again. It's okay to let a franchise die and give birth to a new one. I honestly feel like xbox's problem is is that everything has to be either gears or halo. Sony has left so many franchises behind from socom to uncharted even the next last of us is probably going to be the last game in that series. But they keep creating new series like Spider-Man wolverine Ghost of Tsushima. They're not still making killzone 8. It's okay to let Halo go Microsoft should be thinking about something brand new with all their resources they're capable of it. If they announced another Halo tomorrow I'm not going to be excited and that's a problem.

      Rushing it isn't ideal and I don't want that. I also don't want a unfinished Halo to release like we got with Infinite. That's why scaling the project down as I propose here is my idea to keeping the franchise alive. Getting at least 3 Halo Campaigns in 10 years means more to me than getting 1 or 2 complete ones in that time. If Xbox really isn't interested in funding other teams to make Halo titles, then help the one that is release projects more frequently by scaling the projects down to what the community cares about most.

  • @ToxicBalloon360
    @ToxicBalloon360 Месяц назад

    The issue is that the story of the mainline games has been so horribly written (for the most part) and disjointed, that I'm not even looking forward to anymore campaign content. 343's campaigns come off as corporate-funded fanfiction, and that includes Halo Wars 2. The surrounding lore isn't all too good either.
    The UNSC has recovered way too fast from the war, the splinter Covenant factions haven't been explained at all (aside from the Banished, but that's a spinoff game), the Forerunners had their entire enigma just spilled to us in a series of books instead of having their lore peeled back, organically, through the mainline games that they were introduced in (and that's not to mention that they were originally Ancient Humans instead of a separate species of malformed looking humanoids that look like the result of Voldemort mating with a pug), and now, the Endless or Xanalyn have come out of literally nowhere in a desperate attempt to inject mystery back into the series.
    If there's going to be another title, I want it to be a hard reboot of the story (and extended media) post-Halo 3 (though I'm partial to Reach staying). I would also ideally want this to be done by another company entirely. I also recognise that these conditions will never be satisfied because realistically, and unfortunately, 343 is here to stay, as is their fanfiction-tier storytelling.

    I whole heartedly agree with everything in this vid. Infinite was a step in the right direction at its core, but the live service took what was a great leap into a really small step.
    I will say, NO MORE LIVE SERVICE for this franchise plz. IMO, Halo was always such a W because of how much GAME there was completed day one. More specifically, imo, the customization. Half the enjoyment I got from that game was grinding to unlock armor to make my character look as cool as I wanted, while looking at everyone else’s earned designs. With Infinite, it’s not near as rewarding or motivating as a lot of if not most of the armors people get or simply purchased rather then played for. Just doesn’t hit the same, imo. I played Reach for YEARS after release because of ranking up for more customization, to have that badass Spartan in the cutscenes to see

      Spot on in that back paragraph. I get why they did live service and maybe it actually is working business wise (?) but it has taken away so much of the reward feeling of multiplayer and the whole thing felt early access for the first year and a half.
