RoboCop - The Future of Law Enforcement (c) 1988 Data East.
A single player, side-scrolling platform shoot-em-up based on the 1987 movie of the same name. The game's story mirrors that of the film, with former cop Murphy, now a half-human cyborg called 'RoboCop', on a quest to bring down the evil OCP corporation.
RoboCop features nine levels of action, with two of the game's nine stages being into-the-screen target ranges, in which players can try to accrue bonus points and earn extra health. Wooden crates occasionally bar RoboCop's progress, but these can be punched to remove them. Marked crates can be smashed to reveal one of three Weapon power-ups; Three-way Gun, Dual Laser and the incredibly powerful Cobra Gun.
The film's incidental music plays throughout the game and RoboCop's speech is sampled directly from the original film.

TRIVIA -
RoboCop was released in November 1988.
After Ocean Software secured the RoboCop license, they sub-licensed it to Data East who created the coin-up game. Ocean then ported the game to various home computers.
Most of RoboCop's sounds were borrowed from "Heavy Barrel".
A Robocop Cabinet can be seen in the Nickelodeon shows All That (from 1994 to 1997) and Kenan and Kel. However both shows shared the same cabinet, but with different fictional marquees.
Pony Canyon / Scitron released a limited-edition soundtrack album for this game (G.S.M. Data East 1 - D25B1002) on June 21, 1989.

When I was a sophomore in high school, back in 1988, I lived in a small town of about 2,000 people. A small pizza parlor had just opened up and had a room with some video games. I remember they had Shinobi, Rastan, Double Dragon, a driving game called HQ, Cyclone pinball machine, and Robocop. I spent hours in there mastering Shinobi. I played Robocop many times, but was never that good. You are the master of this game. These videos always take me back. Good job!
Nowadays the only arcades you get are just sit-down racer sims. Truly a thing of the past now.
Although...check out _Galloping Ghost Arcade_ in Brookfield, Illinois
@@edwardgaines6561 we have a few arcades here in AZ that have retro 80s and 90s games. It is called Starfighters. Pretty cool place.
I'm 42 and remember beating a lot of arcade games with only one quarter. I took pride in that. Still do!😄
Yeah, Robocop is one of the games that made arcade games legend. More than 30 years after, we still love it ❤️

i played this game first time in a very very small village in greece ,,,i was 10 or 11 years old now i am 44 .....thanks for the great memories ))))
The pixel art on that ED 209 is seriously impressive it puts a lot of indie level pixel art of today to shame.
I have this one on the Pandora box. Thanks for the trip back to the 80's eras.Going to play this game over the holidays.
The best years were back in 199X... Who here agrees?
@@dragoncoolproduction6329 I won't come quietly, so there will be trouble!
Mid 90s best arcades ever
@@ghostofsparta291 you mean mid 199X
I'd say between 1984 and 1999. It goes downhill from there pretty quick.
The story really takes place in 2043 according to the book version where one of the lines is:
*"Good morning." Casey smiled, his teeth nearly reaching his ear lobes. "I'm Casey Wong with Jess Perkins and these are today's top stories. It was revealed today by doctors at the Texas Clone Institute that Hollywood immortal Sylvester Stallone died yesterday during an unsuccessful brain transplant. A longtime supporter of bio-engineering, Stallone was ninety-seven. His last film, Rambo XXXVIII: Old Blood, will be released post humously next month."*
Sly was born in 1946.

Я тоже играл в такие игры но только в 1993 году.
I was used to finish this game with only 1 credit! On the 80's my best friend's father was a pub owner in France and we played the Arcade all day long...
Thank You for Your cooperation! One of my favorite arcade games, good memories. :)
Used to play it on my Amiga 500, I think. Being 41 years old next week, I would love to play it again. The whole night long *g*
Amazing game, used to be one of my favorites. The player is a God in this game. Very impressive.
This game was ridiculously difficult for a nine year old kid like myself at the time. Robocop versus The Terminator was even more absurd.
Persona Nongrata but look at us now it turned us into fucking tigers!
Robocop versus The Terminator on the Genesis really isn't very hard. Instead of walking full speed; inch your way through more crowded areas so everyone won't load in at a time, and switch to your lesser weapon right when you die so you'll lose that instead. A good weapon makes all the difference.
My favourite arcade game of all time.
I still play this old school classic every once in a blue moon on the MAME emulator. Sweet video bro. You get a like from me...
How did you install this game on a pc?
Fist thing you need to do is go to MAME and download there free arcade emulator, then you need find the correct bios and a sight that let's you download free MAME Roms. Or you could just track down somebody who is willing to upload you the full MAME emulator + bios and the full 6000 Arcade Rom set through Dropbox. Hope this helps bro....
Thank you for answering.
Played this game until it wouldn't play anymore and the 2nd one too. Amazing to think back at such epic games like this
Ah the 80’s, my childhood, where a Rated R movie with graphic violence can still be marketed to kids with Video Games, Toys and cartoons!
incredible game for 1989, finished with one credit too
I remeber playing arcade as a kid, i was about 10 years old... ED 209 was kicking my ass. Just then an older kid (teen) who was watching me play said to me, let me beat him for you. I said yes, when he did, Robocop says.. Thank you, for your corporation. I thought.. HOLY SHIT! ROBOCOP'S MIND IS INSIDE THIS ARCADE GAME. HOW DID HE KNOW THE KID HELP ME WIN?
Thank you for your cooperation... Muito legal ver o final novamente.
Thank you...Robocop arcade game...(and the movie of course) for ever

Im turning 37 on september 9th 2020...i grew up on nintendo from a early age...i use to play this in the arcade at casinos in las vegas...
Jesus, that "Cobra" trivializes the hell out of the bosses. Ahh, classic games, where "balance" was what you did with quarters waiting your turn.
I used to love playing this for my Amiga 500 in 1989!!!
This was a fantastic game. One of the best side scrollers of its day. I NEVER got that far on one quarter. It cost me a roll of quarters to beat it.
Least you're honest.

I am 50. Still remember this game. Spent a lot of money but fun it was.
Miss the 90’s games. this one particularly had some glitches we could explore to make over 5 million points all over the game
