I do appreciate what they went for at the end, where the first one he was accepting his humanity and discarding himself as merely a robot or cyborg, but by the 3rd he's come to terms with the latter as well, accepting he's both Murphy but also Robocop.

It may not have resonated as much as the first film did. But, for fans of the character as a whole, it competes his character arc-and justifies why he acts like more of a robot in this film than in the others.

My favorite part was when the cops walked out because they didn't want to be used by OCP to oppress the people of Detroit. It showed that Murphy wasn't the only hero in the movie.
Reminds me of a scene in the comic where OCP had told the fire department that they couldnt put a fire down because the neighborhood hadnt payed their taxes. Then Murphy just bustout like the Kool aid man and took a truck to put out the fire himself, best part was that the firefighters just walked all over the spokesman and followed Murphy without a second thought.

@SonateSonate Actually, this movie has one of the first examples of the morphing CGI that became popular around the time of the film’s release. When Murphy has a flashback to his wife and her face morphs into Lewis, and then Dr. Lazarus’s face. That was CGI.
Yeah the only difference between the 2 was Morton was shot in both legs by Clarence Boddicker and was blown up by a grenade while McDaggett got both legs roasted by Robocop's flight pack and was vaporized or as he put it 'Atomized' by 2 self destructing androids along with the O.C.P. building and everything within 20 yards of the building.
I used to play this game on Sega Genesis as a kid and now I’m 39 years old and I also watched it years ago and on Tubi and I had amazing 🤩 times with my life.🇺🇸💯👍

This was one of the most awesome piece of cheese whiz I have seen in 90s Hollywood.. Even when I first saw it on VHS. AMAZING!!! One thing I always laughed at in Robocop 3, People LOVE to use Shotguns at range lol.
Man can anyone imagine what it would have been like if the guys who rebuilt Murphy into Robocop in the first movie had done a better job wiping his memories and he was completely under they're control Robocop would have been working with the R.E.H.A.B. team instead of fighting alongside the Detroit Police Department so in a lot of ways the Police and the citizens of old Detroit were extremely lucky that Mortan and his team had done a lousy job of wiping Murphy's memories when they started coming back when those technicians saw them appear on the monitors and thought he was having a dream when infact it was his memories coming back and that it was Anne Lewis who helped out more when she saw him twirl his gun at the shooting range just like the fictional character T.J. Laser.
I have to wonder if the team who rebuilt him realized that a cyborg needs memories of who they were. It’s why they left his face intact. It’s how Murphy connected with his past and it made him stronger for It
I remember when we rented this on vhs and my mom complained the jet pack was unrealistic. Yes....the jet pack instead of the cyborg resurrected dead cop was the bridge too far.
Yeah, check out the Frank Miller comic version of this movie. He had some radical ideas, one of them is rebuilding RoboCop to fly, but like most outlanding ideas, if not executed correctly, they look poor. The movie idea of Robo flying is a far cry from what Miller had envisioned, even if not agreeable.

That's Robert Burke. I always thought he didn't get the credit he deserved for filling Peter Weller's shoes. They were big shoes to fill, but I feel Robert Burke did a fine job. He also played General Mattis in Generation Kill.
Despite being cheesy, this movie had a lot going for it compared to the second film, it had a better story with more heart and emotional depth, a better villain, more interesting secondary villain with the Japanese ninja androids, better supporting characters, more impactful story development with Lewis dying, RoboCop being connected offline to a computer while repaired, getting a physical upgrade with the gun and the jetpack (as cheesy as the jetpack was), the OCP buyout by a zaibatsu and Detroit PD finally rebelling. It needed a bigger budget and a rewrite and IMO would be better if not all the cops were heroic because pro-police rhetoric really hasn't aged well, we all the know grim truth there.
After seeing the remake of Robocop where the new character of Murphy still had all his memories and after getting over being turned into a cyborg to save his life I can't help but think how cool it would be if they did sequels to it like they did with the original Robocop and even seeing one where he gets a flightpack and seeing him take to the skies again would be awesome.

This is where the series officially jumped the shark for me at least 🙄
Nah it was the super weird Robo Ninja's from Japan. honestly the movie wasn't even that bad until the weird Katsumoto Porcelain faced ninja androids.
The tv series and prime directives tv movies were worse in my opinion
@@Spock4771 Prime Directives had it's moments. But it was also basically 2 movies worth of content. I'd say it's equal to Robocop 3 as far as benefit or damage to the 'brand', but the Series was just schlock for kids to sell toys for sure.
@@Alconium Now I'm really curious if that TV show was some people's first exposure to Robocop, and how much of a shock it'd be for them to see the original, more violent movies afterwards.
I wish RoboCop 3 was like 2hr or 3hr and still kept as a Rated R film, I felt like RoboCop 3 could’ve been like the 1st movie since 1987 and have a darker tone in this movie, but by the way Robert John Burke did an excellent impression job of RoboCop.

I think I saw this in theaters as a child. I probably shouldn't have. As it is, the mercenaries from this look like the ones from Robocop: Rogue City. Those guys were tough. Ugh.
