- Our General Electric Dishwasher wouldn't run, and had a blinking control panel light. I show how we found and replaced the faulty switch for about $10. The part it needed was General Electric WD21X10224, which can be purchased at www.amazon.com...
For any other parts, make sure you check your model number and try www.partselect...
I tried the steps you explained to fix similar issue with my GE dishwasher and I changed the burned fuse and the spring at the same time. Now, the dishwasher works like a charm, thank you very much for your help.
I found that the black cap that holds together these control panel was broken n the spring eventually came out so I was able to temporarily tape the black box tight and worked like a charm. Thanks for the video!
Thank you!! Your video was very, very helpful! I was able to figure out that my white spindle was missing the spring. Went to Home Depot - picked up a box of Assorted Springs in the hardware area. Came home - popped it on after taking the cover off (BTW - used a wooden chopstick to lift the cover and hold it in place (like the prop lever used under the hood of your car to keep the hood up) - that worked like a charm. Screwed the cover back into position, filled the dishwasher soap cup, closed the door - lights came on, and as my husband witnessed - pressed the "Start" button. Bingo! Started up - no hesitation (and didn't have to use the step ladder to prop up against the dishwasher to keep it in place to continue the cycle like I have in the past year almost every night!). I guess I have enough skills to change a light bulb and fix the dishwasher door lights. So - thanks for being a great teacher! I will keep your video handy for future reference!
What a hero! Thank you for the video. I opened up the unit and found out my latch spring was out of place. Just had to put it back in place and it fixed the issue.
So glad it was an easy fix!
Thank. You. It took me less than 15 min to do this and I got mad man points and my wife could do nothing but look on thank you
Thank you so much! I did not need to replace the switches, just lubricate them. You saved me some money…much appreciated.
Edit: I eventually replaced the switches and everything is working fine.
Excellent work!! Saved my DW
Studying for fix it ideas: Just installed a brand new G.E. Dishwasher Model: GDF535PGRWW; and I am stuck on All Lights Flashing and won't start. Studied my manual fully now. I have reset the dishwasher via circuit breaker about 8 times now. Same old "all light flashing"reproduced every time. I just left a message w the service department from appliance center I purchased it from. Crossing my finger warranty coverage will get me a fix ASP. Appreciate your DIY fix for lesson :+)
Fixed on my flashing all lites on initial start up problem via a warranty install of new motherboard. I would say GE quality control and pre-testing is below par !!!
Thanks for making this video. The work scope ended up being a relatively easy and inexpensive to fix because of this video. Another option to replacing the relays would be to install a jumper across the bad switch until a replacement switch is available. This disable the ability to open the dishwasher mid-cycle since it will no longer stop with the switches jumpered out. Thanks again
I have one and all lights were blinking what I did was shut the breaker off for 5 minutes, reset breaker hit start and it worked so its something to do with timer not reseting.
Hey man great video I'll check mine out see if we have same problem. I think I even have same counter top color as you 😊
I think I'm gonna have to replace my spring and both of the grey chip boxes, still in diagnosing stage.
Buddy you just saved me $500. Thanks!
Hey man, was fixing a buddies machine and this helped a lot. Same exact switch on same side has gone bad, and somehow it has gotten moisture inside on the motherboard and theres corrosion on the right side (looking down on it like in the video) of the motherboard.
That worked, thank you!! 3:47
Glad I found this video,,,,thank you for this. The problem you described having is the exact problem we have.. You saved me a headache in troubleshooting.
Man awesome I can do the repair today
You the man!! I would have figured it out eventually but u saved me a ton of time. Thanks so much!!
Your video was so helpful. We are missing the white plastic piece. Trying to find out how to order that part. If you have any info to help us find that piece we would appreciate it.
So sorry I didn't see this earlier - I've had luck with Part Select in the past. Here is their page for my specific dishwasher model www.partselect.com/Models/GLDL560N10SS/
Nice video - I am having a funny issue where the dishwasher runs OK through the rinse but instead of draining it starts blinking Start light. Was that similar problem you had? Thanks in advance.
It's been a while now, but that is similar to a problem I had when one of the two switches went out. I've had to replace both at different points in this dishwasher's life, so there's a good chance that's it. I hope you could fix it!
I changed out the interlocking switch and that didnt fix it. Is there any other suggestion?
Hi, I'm so sorry! It may be the other switch, but it really depends on the symptoms. It could also be that the switches are not getting pressed down. Just some ideas. Hard to tell without being there. Good luck!
Thank you!
