      Well between the APU cost, am5 mobo cost, and the fastest ddr5 cost, it's a money pit for 0 reason, an am4 build with rx 6600 xt would be over twice as fast in gaming for a lot less. The apu is good, but the price is not, and if the intent is gaming it makes 0 sense for now.

      @@pranze3484 Yes, that makes it impressive, but puts it into a niche.
      It's interesting for an SFF/ITX system. But if you go to AM4, DDR4 and Ryzen 5000 you might already get a 6600 for a similar total amount of money that's much faster at gaming.

Hopefully being small enough to be portable like a gamecube (or in a gamecube with a small enough motherboard). Today the APU graphics performance is locked by the RAM. DDR5 is too slow. Thats why even Intels ARC graphics is not faster and the 8600G with 33% less CU cores is only 15% slower. We need something like 4x DDR6 with 10800MT/s. But this is expensive and only possible with integrated RAM.
      We can still today use HBM (thats about 4x faster as DDR7 and 40x faster as DDR5) but this is expensive as hell.

    • @mikehawk6918
      @mikehawk6918 4 месяца назад

      @@Crustenscharbap The problem isn't RAM speed but access latency. Any speed deficiency can simply be overcome by a higher bus width. Even with slow RAM speeds, the only real downside will be delayed frame rendering (ie higher input and render latency for each frame). For access latency the only option you have is more cache, but cache is very expensive. Doubling the cache basically doubles the cost of the CPU.

    • @Crustenscharbap
      @Crustenscharbap 4 месяца назад

    Great video!! How about doing a deeper dive and overclocking the igpu itself. It defaults to 2900mhz let's see if you can get it to 3200mhz for free performance and FPS gains.

    You should also start doing shorts on the 8700g, just to test all the big AAA games such as Halo,fortnite, and Call of Duty on competitive settings. Just to prepare everyone if they're thinking on water cooling it for a little over clocking the APU itself

    • @davefroman4700
      @davefroman4700 4 месяца назад +4

      its only a 65w part. You do not need to water cool it no matter how much you think you are pushing it. A $40 air cooler will do just fine.

      @@erikkarsies4851 ive used vr on lower benchmarked old gpus and they did fine.
      At this point, this is supposed to be the most power apu that exists, something je should at least test it otherwise aleberyone will just keep assiming it camt do it.
      But when vr is already running on mobile phones, and has all sorts of reprojection software that keeps the framerate up in vr, that arent used on regular games, or even if it means lowering the resolution scaling on vr to 1.0. if desktop vr can run on these then people should know about it.

    ETA , I would like to see you overclock everything on this. The cpu part ,the gpu part, and ddr-5 ram as well, all of it ,to see how far all of it will go.. And what performance you gain over the base stock of cpu-gpu-ram.. Allocate as much Ram as possible to the gpu as you possibly can as well! Max out any power limit, and use an air cooler and retest again with a high performance AIO, as well..

    Is the AIO radiator the wrong way around? I thought the hoses should be heading up above the pump block so that air bubbles don’t get trapped in the pump

    • @little_boy_blue
      @little_boy_blue 4 месяца назад

      No, it is the correct way. If the pipe connecting to the rediation is in the upper side, there is more chance of air getting trapped in the CPU cooler.

    Is this CPU enough for a streaming PC? I'm going to use a capture card with it. How well it will handle the recording and encoding the videos? For 1080p 60 fps.

    • @Neopulse00
      @Neopulse00 4 месяца назад +1

      Even the 5700G was enough for streaming. I've used in the past 3400G.
      This is more ideal for streaming because the 780m iGPU (700 series in general) can do AV1 decoding and encoding which is considerably better than NVIDIA's proprietary NVENC coding.

    Thanks for the review. It's very powerful APU but a budget dedicated Graphics Card will offer better performance like GTX 1660 Super or RX580. If you don't want to spend a lot of money. Prime, What do you use gaming overlay software? its better than MSI After Burner

  • @MusicHavenSG
    @MusicHavenSG 4 месяца назад

    We already know how good the 780M is. So this is kinda like what happens if we give abit more wattage. I can see the 8700G being a powerful media center if you're using a very small case that doesn't have room for a GPU.
