Thanks for this review! I own a 4200 coupe and have waffled back and forth on selling it and moving to a GranTurismo. I'm no closer to a decision, but I appreciate your enthusiasm for the GranSport even though the GranTurismo is your true love:)
I prefer Maseratis to Ferraris having owned both. Nothing to do with engineering but the latter are in your face. Look at me! Maseratis are more understated. I had a 3200 which proved reliable after specialist attention but had road holding capabilities worse than a Ford Mondeo. I agree that the 3200 was aesthetically the best of the range but the GranSport was such a significant improvement in driving terms that this is what I am looking for, having originally focused on 4200s. Later models do not float my boat with their aggressive and bloated styling. Thanks for an informative and entertaining post
Hi Ben and daughter, hope your doing good. That GranSport is one very cool Maserati. It looks both luxury & sport on the inside. If I could afford one, I would have the hood changed out for one with the air vents. Then I would see if a backend with the boomerang taillights could be put on. I loved the video. Stay safe and take care.
I agree with the boomerang lights, vents on the bonnet and those side skirts are a no-no for me. I have an 03 4200 Coupe Cambiocorsa, keep it in sport all the time, great car and criminally underrated, a supercar bargain currently. They are also surprisingly easy to work on if you're handy with tools. Great video
Hi Ben! Re-watched this video as I am expecting a 2003 Maserati Spyder GT 6 speed manual soon. Your daughter is impossibly cute! Love your channel, still willing to let you drive my cars if you ever make it to California. Cheers mate!
Great video, I think these cars are great value. The performance gap to modern cars is huge so the point about whether they are slower or less engaging then a similar 911 is moot as both still are hugely behind modern cars so it is a matter of enjoying its style and drama. You are so right it is a beautiful car on both the interior and exterior and they are a really pleasant place top spend some time in.
Your daughter is utterly adorable :) reminds me of my girl when she was that age, it's a great age for sure. Nice Mazza mate I did look at one once upon a time, I ended up with a Giulia Quadrifoglio instead, which I love, insane car.
I am just obsessed with the gt cars especially the 3200 they are just a rocket for the price my dad has one sadly it’s being fixed and we haven’t had it for 3 months but the pure speed of the v8 is insane
@@dadcars yeah the gran sport is beautiful in that colour just not really a fan of the tail lights and side skirts it kind of takes the gt about it away
I'd expect the alcantara dash is because it was light grey, per the rest of the interior, and the light dashboards reflect onto the windscreen really badly in these (I've owned 3 of them so far!!). The early 4.2 Granturismo is average really, too soft and wallowy, a bit underpowered for the weight. The later 4.7 cars are far, far better. But nothing tops an MC Stradale. I urge you to have a drive of one, judging by the things you say in your videos, I reckon you will get the Stradale in under 5 minutes. And then you will be looking at re-mortgaging....oh I've also had an FF too, for 4 years, the longest I've had any car. Maybe that speaks volumes.
Your little ones are what makes these videos so special and wholesome! That question about why you love cars 🥹 It’s actually quite a personal thing and I think each person will have different reasons why they love cars, but they are all equally valid in answering the question.
I'm owning a GranTurismo MY 2018 (bought new) and I would never change it to a GranSport. These are two Cars from different Centuries. May be the GranSport shorter, lighter and more of a Competitor to an AM Vantage but, i've bought the GT just for its Design (and the 4.7 V8 from Maranello), well made by Jason Castriota under the Guidance of Ken Okuyama. The GranSport on the other Hand, is looking much older and especially on the Dashboard very outdated. There is just an old fashioned Radio in the GranSport, where the GranTurismo has an 8,4" TouchScreen Nav with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and the whole Dashboard is nothing of elegant or high classed. And because of its much shorter Wheelbase, the GranSport is looking less elegant and less well proportioned. So in my Opinion. But, if Money is the most important Thing, the GranSport is in deed much less expansive and can be the better Choice to somebody. A small Advice: If you think, the long Bonnet is a useless Waste of Space, take a look under the plastic Covers. The longer Wheelbase is Key to the 48/52 Weight Distribution of the GranTurismo, which makes the Car so well balanced and sporty, despite its overall and impressive Length. But, seeing any Maserati on the Road, is every time a Pleasure. And there is need for a little Correction: The original Lotus Esprit was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. Having owned a well sorted GT-S and driven a well sorted Gransport they are quite different. The Gransport loves to be hustled down tight roads and is alot better for fast road driving. It deals with bumps better. The GT-S is notably heavier but still well balanced but is clearly made for cruising over blasting. Even the MC Stradale doesnt handle as sweetly as the Gransport imo but the drama is higher and that will be enough for some. Obvioisly the GT interiors are a step up as is the general build Q which is that bit better. Which is better comes down to personal needs and what you want a car to primarily do. Alternatively.... buy both!
@@dadcars I concur sir. The GT makes the better exhaust noise. The Gransport has abit more induction (resonators on the GT models to make it more the tourer) and alot less exhaust! A cheap X or H pipe on a 4200 or Gransport makes for GT esque notes though!
