The Insider I don’t think they did, for bots to be a problem, there would have had to have been some cards for them to buy. NVidia just did a fake launch. It’s already proven that in many countries their website was not even set up to take orders.
They still sell decently on ebay. I sold my FX9590 for about $150 or so just a few weeks ago. A lot of people have rigs that they just need a replacement part here or there for so $100-$150 is pretty common for older CPUs / motherboards.
They used bots to complete multiple purchases in a fraction of a second. Bots they probably paid a lot for from a hacker. Now they are getting what they deserve: troll bids, review bombs, and vendors looking to revoke their orders. Keep it up! 👍

You get a non-paying strike to your account when you don't pay. I think it gets wiped after a year. All the strikes really do is blacklist you from bidding on listings that are have been set to block bidders who have 2 strikes or more. Ebay massively favors buyers. You could troll these scalpers even further and actually pay them these prices, get the item, and then file an "Item not as described" claim to send the item back and get a refund. The claim will get approved by Ebay 99% of the time, and the scalper also has to pay the return shipping.
This is true. This "favouring the buyer", however, isn't necessarily lawful (same with Paypal itself). So even if Ebay/Paypal doesn't give a damn, the seller could go the legal route (and potentially also pull out all money from their Paypal before you do). So it's definitely best to go the anonymous route.
The people using tell bots are normally not using their own accounts just throw away bot accounts that have the required feedback to bid high (1p feedback buying accounts)

Quick tip for anybody wanting an rtx3080. But you didn't hear this from me. Buy the price gouged graphics card for asking price with a good credit card. Receive the item, ensure it works. Now a few days after claim its defective and doesn't function 100%. Lol Option 2: you can purchase another graphics card (make sure its the same one) on the credit card when they come back in stock eventually and then request a return on the price gouged card, return the new sealed box to the price gouging seller and get your money back (this enables you to have the Rtx3080 right now, while you wait for the other card to be available and in stock just beware if stock doesn't come in within a couple months you may be screwed and stuck with 2 cards doing this method i suggest the 1st one. results #1 You screwed the price gouger out of their expected profits Big oof! #2 you got what you wanted for at or near MSRP #3 enjoy, remember, you didn't hear this from me.

Ebay is just a platform that allows people to buy and sell stuff, earning money for being a "middle man". Imagine trying to sell an item and ebay will tell you, that you can´t list it for selected price. I guess you´d be angry and go to another platform. All depends on a customer, if he is willing to pay the price the seller wants. The scalpers are successful only because people are buying from them. And if people don´t care about being scalped, you shouldn´t care, it´s their own money they spend to buy those scalped products.

Besides, there are limitations even to new cards warranty in my region - if i buy it from some person on ebay or any similar site, while he has warranty, in case of RMA with returning money, the former owner gets the money, because his name is on the invoice. Other cases of RMA solving, like repair or replacement are AFAIK OK.

I live in IRAN,I traded 40 old camels,1 SCUD missile and 2 ex wife's for a 3080 video card.
someone made a bot to take care of the scalpers that have the card selling as an auction. is's on tweeter exactly who did it because he got pissed that the Nvidia store got out of stock in 1 second after they were available because everyone made bots to buy them instantly and he waited hours to get a chance at one like many others(the same thing happened on newegg it took about 1 min for all the cards to get sold, the aib ones). it's even a Reddit on pcmasterrace. but yes bid to waste their time(in my case i waited and refreshed the page for 1h and 42 min to get a fair chance at getting one to not even see the "buy now" button). it will always be someone that's willing to pay a little more because the price was raised by the seller and that's how us normal people will always end up paying more in the end because the prices are raised artificially and nobody takes any action
There were only about 1000 cards made for this "launch." No one outside of those living next to a Microcenter had a chance at actually getting a card. Even after 3 months the FE version will still be non-existent.
Bounce Alerts is the name of the outfit that made the bot and provided it to their subscribers so they could pull it off. One of them got over 40 cards. I hope they pin them down and expose all of them and put these scalpers out of business.

If you decide to troll scalpers, make sure to use 1) VPN, 2) alternative DNS server, 3) browser you never used for anything else with no data in it and 4) give no real data of yourself
5) use a private/incognito/inPrivate tab
You still have an ip address without the VPN. If an ip ban is issued, all accounts attached to that ip are banned, incognito or not

@SirSoma Yes. You are absolutely right.
Now the tariffs have expired and the manufacturers have raised the prices 2 to 300 bucks!! How do you win? And still no stock available?
This is the best kind of trolling, keep it up!!

Exactly I bought 3 video cards and didn't pay them just message the seller and say I don't want it anymore
Chao Zu Yeah this is true, if the seller has an old enough account with enough sales, they’d get the money quite fast and they would be able to pull the money out of their paypal or card before you even receive the item.
@@fuego3974 ones that do it for high value items don't even bother with taking the money out they just sell something so it goes into the PayPal account, once money is in the PayPal as usable they then buy something equal to what's in there account and still don't send the previous item, paypal then Issues a refund for the item they didn't send, witch will fail leaving the scammers account in negative so PayPal lose out

Quick tip for anybody wanting an rtx3080. But you didn't hear this from me. Buy the price gouged graphics card for asking price with a good credit card. Receive the item, ensure it works. Now a few days after claim its defective and doesn't function 100%. Ask for a partial refund of the inflated amount so if you paid 1,700 ask for 1,001 dollars back as a partial refund (if you're kind enough factor in taxes if applicable and 13% for eBay fees). Now enjoy your new 3080 for retail price! If the seller and eBay disagree, file a dispute with the credit card issuing bank. NOW you can enjoy your card for retail price. Lol
Option 2: you can purchase another graphics card (make sure its the same one) on the credit card when they come back in stock eventually and then request a return on the price gouged card, return the new sealed box to the price gouging seller and get your money back (this enables you to have the Rtx3080 right now, while you wait for the other card to be available and in stock just beware if stock doesn't come in within a couple months you may be screwed and stuck with 2 cards doing this method i suggest the 1st one.
results #1 You screwed the price gouger out of their expected profits Big oof!
#2 you got what you wanted for at or near MSRP
#3 enjoy, remember, you didn't hear this from me.
This is amazing and I fully support it.
If anyone is at fault here, it's eBay for allowing such blatant price gouging to occur without repercussions for the unscrupulous sellers.
And if people don´t care about being scalped, you shouldn´t care, it´s their own money they spend to buy those scalped products.
eBay won't do anything. They have a report system with tons of options, but scalping/gouging aren't on there.
@@Morpheus-pt3wq
Are they successful?
I think its people trying their luck at making a buck during the lockdown, and I think they overshot their luck and now have a bunch of cards they cant sell
@@UltimatePowa if the cards remain unavailable in some regions for half a year or more, they will sell them for sure. In my country, the unavailability of new GPUs skyrocketed prices of old GPUs - if i were to sell my current GPU, i could do so at almost the price i bought it used 3 years ago - even the cheapest and weakest GPUs went up.
With these new GPUs sold from scalpers, i am really concerned about warranties tho. Even new card can die anytime and if i buy card from some other part of the world, the price to send the unit to manufacturer would be astronomical.
Supply and demand accounts for a item selling out cause people plan to actually use it. If they just imedietely sell it for double the price, that is not supply and demand.

*The idea of the RTX 3080 hitting MSRP prices in a few months*
HA, those things are not gonna hit MSRP again until the next generation!
Then I will never buy one and I will live with my perfectly fine 5700XT or go with Big Navi. Nvidia has been on my shit-list since RTX series and now they are pulling the same tactics with the RTX 3000 series.
@@ricsim78 same. I was a big intel and nvidia fan back in the day. When rtx came out they infuriated me with those prices. So, being the maniac I am I jumped ship and built an all AMD build. 5700XT and 3900X
Like Joker would say, "It ain't about the money, it's about sending a message."
@@trenchcoats4life891 Hah, you did the exact same thing I did. I went Gigabyte Aorus Master X570, 3900X, and Sapphire Pulse 5700XT. I will still avoid Nvidia if they have the reference RTX 3080 above MSRP and the AIB over $150 more than MSRP. They will still get plenty of buyers, but they will lose a sale for me yet again (2 generations).
I totally agree with your quote, if everyone banded together and did that, Nvidia would be selling everything much cheaper. But, people will buy RTX 2080 Ti for $400+ over the $999.00 MSRP, a card, as of tomorrow, will be 2 years old already. Nvidia is too greedy and at this rate, they may lose a customer for life.
@@ricsim78 I agree with everything you said. I did the powercolor red devil and the MSI X570 ACE. I have always been told how shit AMD was but I am pleasantly surprised how well their products are.
I too am in a similar boat and may never go back to Nvidia. I have skipped two generations and am content. We need more people like us who won't pay for this stuff. Unfortunately people seem to demand instant gratification no matter what the price may be.
I'm waiting on big navi but so long as I can do what I want and still play on ultra at 2K, I'll probably stick to the 5700XT. Unless big navi is phenomenal with great price points!
@@ricsim78 remember to cry when even the RDNA 2 have the same problem. Because they will. If you think RDNA 2 will have stock then you're CRAZY.
Honestly, this is amazing, I 100% support this, and hope this continues for every single listing that goes up. Same for any other product launch like the PS5. I never thought about the fact that people could use a VPN and throw away account to do this, but this is an amazing idea and may even join in myself.
Not only is this hilarious, but good on these people that are giving these scumbags that use bots and multiple purchases just to flip something that could have went to an actual customer a taste of their own medicine, make them eat their own garbage practices, and get stuck with all of those cards. If this continues, maybe we can just end scalping altogether by making the risk of just being stuck with all of that money you spent being too high.
