      Everyone should buy a rtx 3080 from ebay and use it for 3 weeks. Then file for a return based on the card does not work and then return it to seller who does not accept returns. If you are feeling frisky go ahead a nuke that card before you send it back to the scalper.

      There will be no repercussions because you bought a card that does not work. How is the buyer at fault. You have to fight fire with fire, and it is a great idea. I hope many people do it.

      @abu1950 4 года назад +21

      @@majorduty Why don't you just avoid buying from them as buying and then destroying the card would be even worse than what they are doing? You will also destroy your reputation on ebay as they mark customers that consistently have issues.
      They might even check your isp and ban which could cause problems for you and some buyers might take you to court if they suspect foul play.
      If a seller has a good rating it would be highly unlikely that they would just believe your word against theirs specially if the seller has never had any bad feedback.
      All I am saying is don't destroy other people's property but just avoid buying from them. If no one buys from them then they are the losers in the end. Trust me this statement "There is no way of proving fowl play" will come back to haunt you if you do it so I won't personally advice you on doing that. This was the argument: “well, it’s their money so if someone wants to pay a scalper then it’s their money.” And that’s true, sort of. The problem is that it screws it up for everyone else who doesn’t or can’t afford to pay scalper prices.

    You get a non-paying strike to your account when you don't pay. I think it gets wiped after a year. All the strikes really do is blacklist you from bidding on listings that are have been set to block bidders who have 2 strikes or more. Ebay massively favors buyers. You could troll these scalpers even further and actually pay them these prices, get the item, and then file an "Item not as described" claim to send the item back and get a refund. The claim will get approved by Ebay 99% of the time, and the scalper also has to pay the return shipping.

      Quick tip for anybody wanting an rtx3080. But you didn't hear this from me. Buy the price gouged graphics card for asking price with a good credit card. Receive the item, ensure it works. Now a few days after claim its defective and doesn't function 100%. Ask for a partial refund of the inflated amount so if you paid 1,700 ask for 1,001 dollars back as a partial refund (if you're kind enough factor in taxes if applicable and 13% for eBay fees). Now enjoy your new 3080 for retail price! If the seller and eBay disagree, file a dispute with the credit card issuing bank. NOW you can enjoy your card for retail price. Lol
      Option 2: you can purchase another graphics card (make sure its the same one) on the credit card when they come back in stock eventually and then request a return on the price gouged card, return the new sealed box to the price gouging seller and get your money back (this enables you to have the Rtx3080 right now, while you wait for the other card to be available and in stock just beware if stock doesn't come in within a couple months you may be screwed and stuck with 2 cards doing this method i suggest the 1st one.
      results #1 You screwed the price gouger out of their expected profits Big oof!

      Ebay is just a platform that allows people to buy and sell stuff, earning money for being a "middle man". Imagine trying to sell an item and ebay will tell you, that you can´t list it for selected price. I guess you´d be angry and go to another platform.
      All depends on a customer, if he is willing to pay the price the seller wants.
      The scalpers are successful only because people are buying from them. And if people don´t care about being scalped, you shouldn´t care, it´s their own money they spend to buy those scalped products.

      With these new GPUs sold from scalpers, i am really concerned about warranties tho. Even new card can die anytime and if i buy card from some other part of the world, the price to send the unit to manufacturer would be astronomical. Besides, there are limitations even to new cards warranty in my region - if i buy it from some person on ebay or any similar site, while he has warranty, in case of RMA with returning money, the former owner gets the money, because his name is on the invoice. Other cases of RMA solving, like repair or replacement are AFAIK OK.

    No you 100% should bid crazy amounts of these items and not pay, it delays them selling it and they will lose out on money so less likely to be as profitable and they won't do it in future.

    More stock in a few weeks.. This didn't age very well considering stock still disappears in seconds, even after having notifications for restocking for months I still haven't gotten my hands on any 3000 series card.
