I was clicking refresh on best buy, amazon, and newegg. Amazon never showed anything. Newegg fell on its face, then teased me with a single model "in stock" but broke when I clicked it, and best buy never even showed in stock and that is were I spent most of the time because I wanted the FE card.

This is another reason why I HATE Amazon. They also pay down their shipping costs with their own profit to make sales more attractive, while crushing the mom and pop stores. They spent about 2 Billion dollars last year of their own money to pay down shipping costs. Poor ethics IMO. Maybe I'm wrong, but watch the sales numbers.

Just picked up a recently released version of this card and there’s no longer a red clown smile on the side! Didn’t look that bad to me but the switch-to-black decision makes it look pretty damn good.
I look forward to buying one next year when they're actually available.

That was the plan.. give reviewers the awesome FE cards to get high praise and then force everyone else to buy third party cards for much higher price (and low stock to drive demand up to make sure people are willing to pay extra to get one)

The closest a consumer can get to a fair price for product. It's worked well for me to this point. I continue to buy the best value card within a certain price range.
Subcon959 the fe had a clear advantage in the benchmarks but they were tied on actual games. If you only run benchmarks you need to buy FE. AIB works fine for games.

I personally think all the AIB cards look really bad this time around, like can we just stop with the GAMER aesthetics already? They just feel really outdated with all that angular gamer-red and rgb. I'd really like it if they followed nvidia's design language and made something that looks as good but has better cooling, is that too much to ask for?

Sleek is good, that’s why I loved the design of the 20 series(FE), and now the 30 series(FE) is to me, gorgeous! It’s sleek, simple, futuristic, they did a fantastic job with the design of these cards in my opinion!

I like EVGA for a variety of reasons, #1 being customer and tech support. I have an X299 Dark, T2 PSU, 2080Ti and their AIO. I have been a customer since the X58 which STILL runs on a machine! Money can't by good service!

This is so sad, but so true. I would say 4-6 months before we see consistent stock available for actual advertised prices. You know for months, the second these things become available bots will snag all of them until the eBay sales drop.

I just picked up the EVGA 3080 today. Luckily I have friends who work at a retailer and they let me know when they came in stock again. I was so excited to find out the 3080s were back in stock via text, but when I went into the store and found out it was the EVGA version, I was like "Damn....this thing is just a $750 toy". I was really hoping on getting the TUF gaming one or the Asus version, those two are beautiful.

Hey Jay, want to comment on how ridiculous this launch was in terms of scalpers and botters? The simplest fix for botters is a Captcha, it blows my mind how simple the fix is, and it makes me think Nvidia doesn’t want to fix it.
Why would they want to fix it? They make money off of scalpers. It’s sales. They only care about money. They don’t care who is buying it. As long as they get their money.
they may or may not because a lot of the time the higher prices are set by demand. if demand outstrips supply. *shrug* plus there was a the retailers scalping the shit of everyone during the big bitcoin mining craze.
Why don't the major UK vendors do it then? It's not in their interests to be down for hours.
Is it impossible normal demand is spiking demand higher than these sites ever nornally have?

THANK YOU For benching at 1080p. The idea that this is too much GPU for 1080p is ridiculous. A lot of games won't hit 144hz at 1080p with a 2080Ti, and even still some can't with a 3080, let alone 240hz. Seeing more and more benchmarks coming in, showing a worthwhile improvement to 1080p performance makes me happy.

@@EnhancedTrashBin They were never in stock. Nobody got them. They wen't from "coming soon" to "sold out" instantly. Maybe people had bots that scooped them all up but it wasn't the regular people camping with the refresh button.
@@roshankattil8584 No I dont. And I'm not enough of a wizard to code it myself. My personal plan is to wait until February or March anyway so I'm not sweating it. Let the bugs and optimizations roll out before I spend a bunch of money. If the 3090 doesn't give me at least 20-25% more performance I'll probably go with a 3080 anyway.

This. Time for retailers to implement some kind of anti-bot purchasing systems. It was crazy. I had 3 sites open and all 3 went straight to out of stock for me seconds after 6ampst.

I thought you would mention the low power limit, that constantly throttles the clock down below 1900 or even 1800, or the undersized cooler that needs higher fan speeds to keep the GPU cool. Though perhaps you hadn't had access to the higher end cards at the time. I needed to undervolt mine to keep the clocks stable at 1935MHz, and prevent power limits being reached constantly.

That gun metal EVGA card was and still is a favorite cooler look for me
For $50 more, it depends how much quieter it is. My 2080 Ti (EVGA, even) gets pretty noisy under load, even with a custom fan curve. The default fan curve is even louder and not pleasant to hear.
Although I’m probably going to get a 3090 in the next 6 months, noise and temps are my primary consideration, because they go hand in hand.

Sepharos I was trying on Newegg Best Buy bhphotography and nvidia site only seen add Cart pop up once for a card on Best Buy by the thing I went to check out after adding it was sold out
I would think just having the normal power connectors makes the card worth more with it being backwards compatible for all current power supplies and it looks better where the cables plug in.
I was able to get through the check-out process up to the final screen and then clicked the final purchase button only to got an out of stock notification several times. A few times the shipping/pick-up dates switched throughout the check-out process to weeks away and then said it was out of stock due to high demand. Worse part of all this is so many of the people who got it only bought it to resell it for a profit. Guess I will have to keep rocking the 1080 TI a little bit longer.

The better card is obviously the 3080 but you could still go with the 1080ti for atleast another year and probably get maxed settings.

The cards are fake 100% confirmed. I have insider knowledge. Seriously, does anyone know anybody that got a card? No. This launch was fake to artificially raise the price when the cards do actually drop. All whilst making Nvidia look like the good guys.. "ohhh were sorry they're sold out.. but they were only 699.99!"

Definitely like the older EVGA cooler Jay showed. I have the FTW2 1070 Ti and I love the look of that cooler. Very industrial looking. For me, the EVGA 3080 would be best in Black, Black/Grey, White or White with some black accents. Covers most peoples's aesthetics.

The embossed E's on the card are likely there because turbulent airflow exchanges much more heat than laminar airflow - it adds texture to force the airflow over the fan vanes to become turbulent. Basically it's to help increase the cooling efficiency.
What complete BS, Was watching every website that listed a 3080 and they all went notify to out of stock instantly. I dont think they even had stock in the first place. Or just bots :(

most likely has better oc capability as custom cards generally have better cooling potential, but idk obviously i couldnt get one
