As an editor who works in an office with other editors....
It's common for us to ask each other "Hey man, how did you do that effect?"
And 98% of the time, any editor will give you the answer. We all build off of each other and usually are happy to share the tricks of the trade. It ain't stage magic.

Ikr? I don't think anyone can own an effect. That would be like an artist owning a "style". Style theft isn't real and styles can't be owned.
It really applies to any kind of art- a guitarist asks another one "how did you do that" and usually they're happy (if not excited) to share their technique
Legal Eagle wasn't even upset. But the editing community came in hard when she tried to claim a technique that wasn't even her idea or a unique one at that. She even admits she can't use editing tools for special effects and that's why she loves Canva. She made a post getting pissy because nobody was willing to tell a bloke "we use canva and it's the page tear effect." She earned her black mark.
A small addition, the effect that the editor was looking for wasn't even the page tear effect. It was a text glow effect that they wanted to use for their own personal project, they just happen to edit some legal eagle videos as well
I'm pretty sure I've seen that effect in grade school documentaries that I was forced to watch as a kid.

Okay, I was already not exactly a fan of hers. But the fact that she resorts to Canva makes me lose respect for her as an editor. Canva is the absolute lowest common denominator for content creation. There are free apps that are better than Canva. Hell, iMovie would be better than Canva. And that's too much for her?

It’s so facepalmingly dumb.

What bothers me the most is that she accused The Click of supporting pedophiles. I'm sick of people throwing around baseless accusations like that because it can jeopardize someone's livelihood as well as their reputation and career. The Click came with receipts proving that he did not do the things she claimed he did. Iilluminaughtii had no proof of her claims.
That really gets me. The V-tuber Pikamee(sweetest person in the world) had accusations like that thrown at her. That's not even going into how some people have paraphilias. Because something went wrong in the transitional stage between childhood and adulthood. People who might have been abused as children. But who are just trying to get by despite the mental scars. The are forced to mentally relive that trauma over and over again. People don't think about that enough when the throw that word around.

I used to watch her content thinking she was a descent documentary channel, but now seeing her true colors and trying to throw other people under the bus to save her own skin really upsets me. For a person that talks a lot about people that take advantage of others, she really should check herself out. As always love your vids Jimmy, keep up the good work!

Yeah, not only did she ruin the point of her own videos by compromising their trustworthiness but she also attracted the exact type of fanbase least likely to let it slide.
People like Turkey Tom & RevSaysDesu make similar content with even less accountability but their facade has always been so thin that they attract a fanbase who are only looking to validate their own hatred/perversion & will blindly defend anyone who helps them do that.

The paying people to spam rumors and dirt on someone is the most unhinged of all and in my eyes, destroys any credibility Blare could have. You have to be really messed up in the head and heart to actually pay people to harass someone who you claimed to be a business partner and friend. All of her accusations against the Click basically amount to "how dare he not be American!" because seriously...he's in a different time zone so he was asleep and someone else had to ban the creep, and how the heck is a Swedish teen still learning English supposed to know which English words are just insults vs slurs? The R-word, being English, isn't a slur in his country and I really don't blame him for not knowing it's any different from saying similarly used words like dumb or stupid that are just considered insults. Once he knew, he stopped using it, and that's all we can reasonably ask of somebody.
It isn't even considered a slur in the US to most people, but it's easy to think so if you're in echo chambers I guess.

A bit of a correction: The effects Blair brought up as "stolen" were not related to the editor's original question. Those were used by LegalEagle (iirc) 3-4 years before Blair even made her channel, not recent additions to his channel due to the editor (who was asking about the effect for his own channel). She brought up unrelated editing styles because she was trying to insinuate this wasn't the first time they've "copied" her

I honestly always found illuminaughti kinda sus, especially whenever she made videos regarding other content creators, she was merciless. Whenever she belittled another creator, she talked about everything she said as being fact. She would never say something like, "Hey guys, please don't attack this creator".
yeah, same here. As well as that some of her videos were (or at least definitely looked like they were) kinda really poorly researched. Now obviously, being lazy with your research doesn't automatically mean you're a bad person, but it does kinda ring some alarm bells.

I have a policy on not watching creators talk about other creators on videos, I'm not subscribed for personal drama I'm subscribed for topics the person has made a career talking about. In that specific Reddit post (which I'm rereading again to check)...she does role play as an autistic person at least old enough to be a Patreon member (also includes the phrase "even if I couldn't donate as much").
So she's not pretending to be super young in that one. Autistic teen or adult. _(Yes I know teens are technically children but "child" & "kid" usually communicate someone who isn't working yet.)_

She is a horrible person. I grew up around people like her, and her intentions to "help" her mentally unstable "friend" was and is, in my opinon, completely selfish and to look like a hero, and I was absolutely sickened by her exposè of this persons suicidal ideation, etc. I am a huge believer in the fact that you have to change your mindset and not dwell in the self pity of depression (it took me 7yrs) but those were cries for help deep down and she spun it to make herself look like the savior.
She pretended to be autistic through her alt account and got all offended on _our behalf_ about Click’s past usage of the word “retard”. Not just once either, she was relentless and kept trying to take him down. As if that’s not bad enough, she used that alt account to simultaneously praise herself for being such a wonderful ally to us neurodivergent folk just because she did a video about the evils of Autism Speaks. Seriously? I’ve always felt accepted and respected by The Click and the community he has cultivated; can’t say the same about Blair, she has has such a fake aura about her.
Anyone else remember this situation? I felt something was off as soon as I saw a video with her complaining about a literal ambulance in the background coming to pick her neighbor up. It's one thing to complain about children being loud or a pet being noisy, but she couldn't even be respectful and consider that her neighbors were going through something serious, but instead complained about the ambulance that was helping them because it was ruining her video. I'm pretty sure a lot of people in the comments were pointing it out, but she never acknowledged it or apologized from what I remember. She may have even removed the video to avoid it coming back up.
But isnt this the problem though, the culture of "calling out" people and berating them for the littlest of things breeds people like illuminatti...people who are willing to do anything to dig up lil dirts and make it look like a landfill by associating lil off colour jokes with very very serious things like pedophilia.

Whenever Dan Howell heard sirens he would shout something like "would you please get stabbed outside someone else's apartment." It's edgy humour, but also genuine frustration about the disruption to the video. But maybe it feels worse without the humour.

There is no doubt about it, Iilluminaughtii is in the wrong here. Her actions are 100% inexcusable and as far as I am concerned, unforgivable. It's kind of sick, I thought her 'Iilluminaughtii Exposed' video was a good response to the controversy, how wrong I was. Also, there are people who saw this from a mile away, there videos from 2 or so years ago that cover some of her controversies and poor behavior and a lot of commenters thought that it was only a matter of time until it all comes crashing down. They were right. All it took was accusing a lawyer of plagiarism and she has absolutely no one to blame for this but herself.

That was when she accused r/slash of subbotting because his channel grew faster than hers. And I think she also claimed he swatted her. Sad Milk was a whole other entity/side project with multiple youtubers as members.

@@alphaomega7191 The wide amount of topics she covers now gets mixed viewership numbers depending on how mainstream the issue is. Her recent focus on Temu from weeks ago has about 875k views as I post, likely from news coverage a fair number of mainstream outlets have covered on it. Most others released around that time period are on average hovering around 200k-300k, but that was before the dirty laundry from her former Sad Milk team members came out.
Give it some time, drama like this attracts people like The Right Opinion. But you have to give those people some time to properly gather all the evidence they need.

The second i heard that she was calling click a pedo-supporter I knew it was all bs. I have been a huge fan of both click, Damien, oz, and legal eagle and I know that behaviour is so,etching none of them support. Click has always preached positivity and his channel has been a safe space for the LGBTQ community for some time.
Back during 2018 when reddit videos started exploding in popularity and she was doing them as well, she accused the youtuber Rslash of boting his subscribers, purely based off of the fact that he was gaining them so quickly.
A youtuber named himself Rslash and exclusively makes reddit narration content and you think the only possible explaination as to why he gained popularity was boting? I mean come on..
It made me lose a lot of respect for her and made me stop engaging with her content for quite a while. So I honestly can't say I'm surprised by what she did towards the rest of the Sad Milk cast and now Legaleagle.
I guess conjuring spurrious accusations and bitterness is just what she does.

I used to watch Illuminaughti, but as of the last 2-3 months i elected not to watch her anymore. Im not surprised to see something happening with her in consideration of her attitude, which became some of the reason i stopped watching her channel.
Happy to see you addressing it since i find your channel to be rather on point with the subjects you address without adding any sort of “shitpost” style commentary.
Then again nothing wrong with that style of commentary, but sometimes i like just having a more serious commentary by comparison

What baffles me is why Blair talked about the Sad Milk stuff in her “apology” video. As a new viewer (now former viewer) of her videos, I had no idea about any of that. If she would have just apologized for the plagiarism stuff and left it at that…I think this whole thing would have blown over. She opened her mouth one too many times.
13:30 This is incredibly frightening behavior from Blair. The way she frames her argument, she never explicitly calls Click a child abuser, but she does say he's child abuse adjacent and not only does she say that, but she says it in a manner that implies that Click himself is a child abuser. It's like how, a few months back, Stuttering John made a video where he mentioned Anthony Cumia being racist and then literally threw up his hands and said "Hey, that's what Opie said!" It's a way of saying something without saying something, and quite frankly laws are starting to change to make people liable for raising such implications.
I used to watch her vids a lot, and saw her response video before even knowing anything was going on. Felt pretty conclusive and I thought this sounds like a very weird witch hunt? Then I found the Clicks video and it cleared up so much that felt a bit strange and you corroborating the info definitely helps. Love your videos dude, always clean and to the point and I know I'm getting the real gist of things without any underlying crap.

Correction: that torn paper or highlight weren't the effect the editor went out to ask about but they were what Blair accused Devin and his team of copying.
Yes - I think the editor wanted to know which tool/effect was used to make the NFL letters glow in one of Illuminaughtii’s videos. Also I think that editor was working on their own project - or at the very least, something that wasn’t related to Legal Eagle.
My understanding was also that the editor was asking for a specific effect for a personal project. Based on what content creators have said asking and sharing editing tips is very common and accepted in the online video community.

I hope everyone now comes to the realization that she's been like this for years. Let's take it in reverse: allegations of plagiarism against Legal Eagle, the complete downfall, mismanagement, and smear campaign against ex Sad Milk members, plagiarism and cruelty towards Cruel World Happy Mind, accusing the reddit channel r/slash of subbotting (and possibly doxing her) simply because his channel was growing much faster than her own, but never ever forget what she did to Tommy C. He gave her admin access to one of his channels as she was a member of his team and a part of his news segments. They made a fat joke about another cast member/or person who was on the show, and they didn't care but she was offended. So not only did she quit the team, but then she abused her admin access to permanently delete every video on his channel that featured her. To be clear, this was his channel and his work and she didn't give him any warning or even say she was bothered. She went scorched earth over a joke. That's the kind of person she is and has always been.
I was a fan of hers for a while but then her content became not as polished, her topics were def picked for the purpose of her being able to go on moral high ground rants, and she had piss poor takes. I was there when she spoke horribly about Cruel World Happy Mind, and I dipped.
To add, she had nothing of value to say and turned thousands of people away from hydrogen rich waters created by Enagic's water ionizers. Meanwhile every corp or business today is an MLM 😂 she had nothing to say about the water, no real reseaech done, just focused on the business which is actually sharing the wealth...

I am so ready for this!!! I unsubbed from her a few years ago because she would excoriate people & businesses but never say anything she would do or what we could do to correct these injustices. Her fans never knew who to contact, or what could be done to stop anything. Considering her pride in thoroughly researching her subjects, it's questionable that she wouldn't know where she and other people could focus their energies to aid some situations.
The community around her struck me as very passive, combined with the failure to calls to action to correct the wrongs she was highlighting - it amounts to pornography to me. If we just listen to bad stuff and don't do anything...who are we? It makes her highhanded tone even less palatable.
I have to say, I'm listening to this the second time through. I find it ironic that she is providing resources in her description for people victimized by her enemies. At the time I stopped listening to her, the most she would provide was content trigger warnings.
I unsubbed because her videos were getting way too monotonous and way too frequent for their length.
It just got to a point where I had to skip watching basically every upload because, I either felt that the topic was the same as different recent videos or, a bit later on, I got kinda tired of her style and lack of actual conclusion.
Tbh her Mr beast video was a red flag for me .

It's not even "used in some of their videos"... Legal Eagle was using the same fucking effects for years already, since marker and ripped paper are obvious for a channel dealing with stacks of legal filings. They just asked if illuminaughtii's team had some better way to do it. It's just so insanely bonkers that it boggles the mind.
When it comes to the lies... I don't even know who The Click is, but having watched his video his take is easy to believe. You know, receipts and the obvious heartbreak of finally figuring out that Blair was the stalker all along.

Plagiarism in the context of video essays almost always refers to the content, and I would even argue that you need to clone a lot of someone's style for that to even track.
I think it's pretty telling that she thinks that being toxic towards her co-workers is somehow productive or necessary to operate a business
It's a little shocking to me that the masses are literally just now starting to figure out iilluminaughtii is a bad person, i saw people talk about her behavior ages ago and i never looked at her videos the same way again.
I had never heard of nor watched iilluminaughtii until roughly four months ago, and I only watched three videos before losing interest in her attitude. For me, at least, this is why I'm only now figuring out what she's really like.
It was definitely known by some people because I remember someone making a video about her and what she did to CruelWorldHappyMind (who seems great!) when I was subscribed and not being shocked she wasn't all that great a person. I think it's just always good when people become aware of things whenever they do.

Blaire kinda dug her own career down by responding poorly to legal eagles team. Which seems to be a good thing since if it wasn’t for it we wouldn’t get all this revelation
I used to watch her when she was still a Reddit channel. Her documentary style content never really jived with me. She always sounded a bit high horsed. However, I found comfort in Click and OT’s content. Whenever I am overwhelmed with life, I watch their content. They are positive beacons on this platform, whereas she felt more like a black hole of negativity.

I only discovered Illuminaughtii a couple of months ago. I watched a few of her videos and liked them, but the more I watched, I noticed that she always had the same level of rage directed at her targets, even though it seemed like their level of wrongdoing varied. Some had done really terrible things, while others seemed just mildly bad, but she didn't make any distinction.
illuminaughtii and creepyartshow should be roommates. they are both unhinged.
The first thing I thought when she posted her video “apologizing” was how quickly she went from saying a non apology for her actions towards Legal Eagle and his team to accusing others for treating her like shit. The whiplash was immense and really felt manipulative especially as the video went on. And the end about Oz? Her tears felt so out of place. I remember watching a few videos of hers a long time about but after like the third one something felt super off about her and I stopped. Weird looking back on it because I have no idea what clued me in or even what video gave me bad vibes. I’m truly wishing Click, OT, Wonder and Oz the best while they figure stuff out.

Correction: The editor actually requested for a plugin to produce an effect unrelated to what they were accused as shown in the email. Blair completely closed over that fact

i am so disappointed in her. no matter how smart you think you are - you just never are smart enough to keep track of all the bs you did or told. just be like, a good person, even if you have mental issues and don't always mean it. it is not that hard. just do what is right or makes others happy and accept that you don't always have to gain anything from it. people like her make no sense.
This whole situation just made me sad because ive been through a very similar situation irl and the click, OT, and Oz have provided me a lot of comfort when I really needed it. Also, if people no longer want to support illuminaughtii, the channel cruel world happy mind creates very similar good quality content and she also experienced Blair's vindictive side a few years ago.

I began to binge watch her videos at work bc I liked a few & YT would continue to recommend her. I enjoyed her videos at first, but then I began to notice some of her videos were just hit pieces. She would exaggerate how bad some things were and it seemed extremely bias. At first I just thought it was me disagreeing with some of her points until this came up
My case is similar to you, with the added reason of her shoving too many sponsor vids into her videos. I was like, "how greedy and uncaring of her audience one has to be in order to play three commercials consecutively?".

I purchased a Makeship plushie from her campaign well before all this went down. And apparently I won't be able to return or refund it. If I had known, I never would have given her my money. I'm almost dissapointed in myself, to be honest. All I can do at this point is wait for it to arrive and then change the plushie's name to, say, Maya.

I knew something was off about her when she was super dismissive of people who disagreed with her about some video she had made previously. She basically said "I don't care. Keep talking about me because it keeps me relevant"

I thought the drama with Blair was goofy and hilariously out of touch. I still was a fan as someone who sometimes watched a few of her videos. I didn't know people come out with serious allegations, and her in turn making gross claims of others.
Everyone has their own interpretation of what went down. It feels like a bunch of children just throwing sand at each other know. Who the fuck knows what the fuck. They each brought their own receipts, and have made allegations that aren't even provable. I'm choosing to chalk it up to bad blood and a childish need to be right.

She literally did her best to ensure that her targets would lose their livelihoods and have their reputations so trashed they would be considered liabilities by everyone who might employ or support them. That's the sign of a very diseased mind and Blair needs serious psychological help. And while you may think that being a youtube celebrity isn't a 'real' or 'serious' job (thus equating this all to 'kids throwing sand at each other wanting to be right', I can guarantee they put in more hours in a week to produce content than you do in a month.

She lost me with her own video and the Wonder section cast extreme doubt on her believability for the earlier parts. Then the outright pity party she threw for the audience to 'apologize' to Oz topped it off. Especially speaking as someone who did lose my mom from cancer and cancer hung over my entire childhood, I was disgusted to see her trying to leverage her mother's illness for pity.

I think the funniest thing about this whole thing is how much the universe punished her in order to show us all that the claim that you shouldn't make baseless accusations against a *lawyer* is true, you know, the ones whose jobs it is to defend clients even against claims that aren't baseless, so in other words, they're very good at digging up information and creating a solid defense.

From my recollection, she also accused rSlash of botting as his channel grew, which he proved was not the case (he also didn't even give names, just said "Someone accused me of botting, here are the receipts showing that I'm not", then got on with the video). She has a very, very long history of this.
Yeah, that was her first controversy back when she was just a reddit channel, too. I stopped watching her as soon as that happened, and I'm shocked as rubber that she continued harrassing and leveraging false accusations against people ever since.

I watched her all the way back from when she would read out reddit posts, similar to Click. The last year or so, her videos have just not been hitting the same in terms of entertainment value. I've watched maybe 2 of her videos from the last 8 months. There was a subtle shift in her attitude that I honestly can't describe
The weirdest thing is still how it started because of the most nothing accusations ever and resulted in her entire reputation being ruined.
