I took a Research and Writing class at Augusta University. The entire grade depended on the paper you wrote. One student submitted a paper. The professor, Dr. Calahine, was grading papers when she came to this student's. She read about half-way down the page, put an "F" on it, and went to the next paper in the stack. After she had passed back the papers, the student in question went to her office angry and demanded to know why she got an "F." Dr. Calahine reached back, took a book off her shelf, and showed the student were she had copied word-for-word. The book...was written by Dr. Calahine.

I had a D level student turn in a film report in which he claimed to have watched Shoah - a 9 hour documentary about Holocaust survivors. I've been unable to watch much of it. His paper used college level words I knew he couldn't even give a definition for. A quick google search gave me the word for word review from a university website. His response to his zero was outrage. Everyone else got a way with it, why should he suffer?

I had a professor that hated me because I made a respectful suggestion that would help us and he didnt really appreciate it. He picked my papers apart sentence by sentence every time. I was an English minor and was getting A's in all my English classes and this was a music history class. Another student literally put a fake quote by Bach with cuss words in block quotes and never got called out. There are other professors who really do care about the success of their classes as well and will read everything. I kind of respect their dedication.

My student submitted a paper to me that had this phrase inside, "to purchase the book by abc author on xyz topic, click here".
Another student submitted a paper to me with those reference numbers in brackets [23] etc, and I asked him in class, "I did not see the citations associated with the numbers, and also the numbers are not in order," Of course he had no idea what those numbers represent, just wanted to know if I could get a funny response in turn.
Also, during university, my classmate was short of material to meet the total wordings in his essay. So he started quoting a cricket match that he had seen. He didn't expect the teacher would actually read through the 100+ submitted essays. So, when his essay was read aloud in class, we had real fun.

lol, that last part is familiar to me, my grade 5 teacher told me when he was in uni, he had a teacher who was quite old and always didn't fully read essays, just skimmed them, so my teacher's classmate once wrote some very inappropriate things about the teacher's wife's body parts in the middle of the essay. He got very unlucky though, as the teacher actually read that part and nearly had a heart attack reading it

(Some blame goes to the professor for creating a word or page limit. I never, ever do that. I give a ball-park length and tell them that if they can do the assignment in fewer pages clearly and thoroughly, great. I like shorter papers, they're easier to grade. I do usually give fairly strict maximum lengths though; I like my students and I like hearing their ideas, but I also like getting a change to sleep at a decent hour.)

They wouldn't turn in anything and then at the end of the term, their parents would call wanting to know why the teacher failed their child. Then the parents would tell the principal that their child's failure is due to the fault of the teacher because the teacher couldn't teach. Reminds me of how Salvador Dali was ostracised by the surrealist community for his fascination with fascism only to later attempt reclaiming him after his rise to greater popularity.
I myself was not encouraged whatsoever at home to pursue art, really more discouraged, and so took no art classes in school until being forced by graduation requirements, councillor error and class availability to join an ART 2 class. A guaranteed pass due to the error not being mine, I still applied myself and made many works. As it turned out, nearly all of these pieces, which I left behind, were later displayed prominently and enduringly in the school and a couple were used in their literature.
Sucks being vindicated too late, but at least it was in our lifetimes, reward or not!

He'd go back into the teaching files and copy stuff from students that had graduated 10-20yrs ago (so the teacher wouldn't remember the papers and recognize he was cheating), and he'd make copies of the tests so that when test day came, he could just copy the answers he wrote on a paper he hid.. I plagiarized myself once. I was in 12th grade Creative Writing class. The class was, shall we say, very low-grade on the intellect, and the teacher had low expectations. The night before we were supposed to turn in our final fiction story that we were to have been working on all year, I found something I had lying around that I wrote in eighth grade, retyped it, and turned it in. She gave me a C, and she wrote on it that it was "almost too good" and that she had a "hard time believing" I wrote it! God only knows how awful everyone else's papers were, for mine to shine so. I wanted to show her the four-year-old source document, but I just went up to her desk and said, "I don't know what to tell you. I wrote this." She took it back and then gave me an A- the next day. The minus, I suppose, just to show me she still had doubts.
