WOW, THIS sketch should be archived as internet history. This is how fast technology marches.
What’s weird is it gets faster every day now. From 1980 until about 1995, not much happened. Then it exploded in year 2000 and went nuclear in 2010. It’s going to be interesting to see the next decade unfold.
Replace Myspace with any current website and it still is relevant.

The writers set out to make a comedy sketch and accidentally made a timeless PSA.
I just used this video to teach my elementary kids about safety when they are playing their Roblox game, so that they don't give private information to people who say they are "kids."

This is a PSA all parents should watch before giving their kids access to social media.
I think that this topic should be talked about more often. These days though, too many people spread the philosophy "I shouldn't teach my daughter to protect herself, you should teach your son not to rape". Which, I get it, but that doesn't help the fact that there are still a lot of predators out there and you should always teach your kids how to be safe.

Yeah...well...Myspace got rid of their forums in favor of groups and tried to replicate Facebook. Myspace should have remained true to themselves. I miss the Myspace sports forums.

This was a great era too. Very talented cast in this episode . MySpace was so creepy and had so many predators on there.

I suppose for people that are computer illiterate a website that isn't being heavily moderated like MySpace might come off as "creepy." Then again, if you don't know how to use the Internet then you shouldn't be using it. Websites such as RUclips, Twitter and Facebook have been created to serve people that need moderators in order to feel comfortable. Those people have ruined the Internet.

I definitely agree that their sketches are great. But most of the time it's really just little jabs at the scenario which is set up.
In the end there is only rarely one great punch line

When I watch this, I see that SNL is the true birthplace of new comedy stars. Just brilliant, Andy Samberg, Bill Hader and so much more. I'm not even talking about the writers.

What a fun and classic sketch with hilarious cast members that were newer and some leaving soon like Horatio. Even Julia was an old member! Damn this sketch felt so new and now it's like the equivalent to what a 1992 SNL sketch with Farley and Hartman and Carvey woulda felt like in 2006.

Facebook and RUclips both got started in 2004, so it hadn't entirely disappeared off the grid by then. It spent some time trying to market itself as a networking tool for musicians after Facebook dominated the market.

Why do they read everything from a prompter if they could write their lines on their computers? Would be look more natural..
Since it would require an IT person to prep the machines to show the text, not accidentally not have the file open when going live etc - paper is 'safer'

You think it would look more natural to look at the computer screen while talking to someone? A computer screen that wouldn't logically be showing anything like a video or a chat that would actually have their attention.
that's because SNL hasn't been funny for the last 20 years.
They use cue cards and have been since the beginning of the show. They could switch to teleprompters (or have used the computers) but they continue to use cue cards because it’s tradition and sometimes prompters and computers cut out and dont work
