    The Mongols were the only people that were able to take down the Vikings and the Rus, and no one could best them on a horse! I think even King Ashurbanipal of Assyria feared the Mongol hordes.

    I lived in Mongolia '94-'96. It was post Soviet. The city has changed/modernized a great deal. It looks great! Although I do have some nostalgia with the older Soviet look as well. I know it is almost a year old, your video. But I was glad to see it. Thanks! Ямар сайхан видеог хийж өгсөн чинь их баярлалаа.
    Also, as you talked about the monuments and the contribution of Mongolians. There was a motorized rifle battalion in Iraq in Hillah. When I travelled to Hillah, several times, I would talk to the Mongolian soldiers. Great dudes! Per capita, Mongolia was the largest contributor in Iraq behind the US. I was confused by the tank and the map cause I knew there were no Mongolian troops fighting against Wehrmacht (they had relatively few and those were already engaged guarding the borders with Japan-occupied China at the time). So had to do quick extra research.
    Indeed, the Mongolians paid for 53 tanks (T-34 and T-70) produced in USSR back in 1942. These tanks formed a separate brigade which originated near Moscow in January 1943 and whose 1943-45 route to Germany is then shown on the map under the tank. The tank exhibited is just a later (85mm long gun) version of T-34 (went into production in 1944), not necessarily the one that was actually used by the denoted brigade at any point in time.
    Mongolia also stands behind a squadron of fighters that were manufactured at their expense over 1943.
    The biggest input into the war effort by Mongolia actually were the horses - off the top of my head, I think there were around 0.5 mln horses supplied to the Soviet Army during the war which tremendously helped the logistic efforts. On top of that, there were huge supplies of cattle, wool, leather and multiple smaller items required for the joint Allied war effort. As a Russian, I’m thankful for all the support!

    The wide stripes across the chest of the Red Army soldiers are often painted by artists in red, but in reality they have never been red. They were of different colors according to the types of troops: crimson - infantry, dark blue - cavalry, sky blue - aviation, orange - artillery. On this mosaic panel, we can see both the correct and the incorrect image at the same time.

Part of the mosaic with the image of the Japanese flag refers to the events before the Second World War. Thanks for this piece of travelling to Mongolia. Never been there and it's a kind of revelation for me. I thought it was more rural. You changed it. Hope one day you get to explore the South of Russia. Krasnodar Region, Northen Cuacasus Republics of Russian Federation. I'm rather sure you will find lots of amazing places in there. Climb the mountain of Elbrus. Get to downhill skiing resorts of Dombay or Sochi. Dagestan, for example is a uniqe place if you want to see what real mountains look like. Try to Google fortress of Narin Kala in Derbent, which existed more than 2000 years B.C. and how it looks like today. If I can assist you in any possible way, just let me know, I'll do what I can for such a nice positive couple.

    Расскажите про монгольскую кухню!)))))😊

    • @MsJokerson
      @MsJokerson 9 месяцев назад

      Я расскажу. У всех кочевников, от Монголии до Южно-русских степей, какой-то особой кухни как бы и нет. :) Точнее так: вся кисло-молочка, от сметаны и кефира до всяких айранов и кумысов, родом от кочевников. А в плане еды это просто варенное в разных вариациях (свежее, валянное) мясо и вяленные колбасы из субпродуктов. Которые тоже потом варить надо. В общем-то и все! :)) Просто у кочевников почти никогда не возникало проблем с едой и поэтому смысла что-то изобретать из других продуктов тоже не было. Да и образ жизни не способствовал тратить время на придумывание каких-то кулинарных изысков. Поэтому у монголов, в частности, просто какие-то вариации той же китайской кухни.
