I can remember spending hours at this mall back in the late 80’s early 90’s. As a young boy I would be camped out at Aladdin’s Castle arcade while my mother and sister were shopping..

The old Del Amo was much better.
I remember as my Family lived in Gardena area in the 80's. Late 80's thru mid 90's were my favorite years. The Mc Donalds and Arcade downstairs is were we would hang out. Unfortunately it's no longer the fun place that it use to be. Best of memories.

Hahaha...I was part of the 1st generation of the 80s Mall Rat here. I had a friend who worked as a security guard there. He let me take a peek of the blueprints when they decided to connect both malls together!!! I got to memorize all the storage units, secret routes and exits lol....good times. It was a prestigious title of being the world's biggest mall. Good times...thanks again Eric

I remember in the 1980s I visited in Delamo fashion center. I actually flew down from the bay area and what was then either air cow or a PSA either to Burbank Glendale airport or LAX and took a bus down to the Alamo and I remember that Orbaek store and just how huge the mall was those were the days. Thanks for the video.

Hung out there every weekend back in the day (late 70's - early 80's). Valley Girls and Fast Times at Ridgemont High were filmed there. It use to be the most amazing mall in the world!!! Its complete garbage now. But oh the memories will last forever.

Great video I remember the old del amo mall from 25 years ago Aladdins Castle, Mc Donnalds Play place, Taco Bell, Sam Goody, walking down the hall to get to TJ Max, Sears, Kings Table Buffet, and the best food court cafe lot was Del amo Steak Sandwich, and the prices not bad back then as they are with today's food court and Restaurant. I'm 32 now and I still enjoy it now but not as good as it was 20 years ago. Lucilles BBQ, Lazy Dog, Din tai Fung and the Bazil dine in Nordstrom is great to dine in and eat.

I loved Aladdin’s Castle (arcade) that was next to McDonalds-they had a ball pit/play area even though it was in the mall! I had the best time as a kid eating at McDonalds and then running to the arcade next to it to play games.
My brother ran away from Elementary school once when he was in the 4th grade to go to Aladdin’s Castle and he spent his lunch money playing games. Cops came to school and everyone thought he was kidnapped, and we found him walking back to school just as the search party was about to commence. That was back in 2000. Oh, memories. 🥲 RIP big bro.
Also, there was an old fashion ice cream bar cart that was badass back then too. Thanks for reading.

Living in Long Beach at the time, I used to go there every Saturday at 10 am and spend the entire day until it was closing (sometimes at 5:00 Pm or 8:30 Pm) time throughout the 90s! I really miss the way it used to look like. Not a fan of the way it is after the recent remodeling.

One of my first jobs in college was at that mall! Memories! I'm so glad the original food court lives on in "Jackie Brown"- I LOVE that DinTaiFung. Whatever happened to the clock tower? It was huge and overlooked the entrance (now near Joanns). The Ohrbach's is now a Mitsuwa, a Japanese grocery store and food court, but we also remember it as STØR!

Great job Eric C. I was there today. I am usually there every week. I was there during the earlier years as a youth. So much has changed. I was there the last day Sears was open. It is an empty shell today. Marshalls is in the place near the old inside mall sears entrance. Dave and Busters came in right before the pandemic. On the far end where all the renovation took place, it is like Rodeo drive in many spots. You were very detailed. Thank you, stay blessed.

I worked at Bullock's Del Amo in the early 80s and it was a beautiful store. Nordstrom's is the closest equivalent but Bullock's was superior. It was a popular mall and Del Amo was one of Bullock's top stores. I remember when it was two separate malls. There was also a Joesph Magnin store. Was it across the street from I. Magnin? Who remembers Bob's Old Fashioned Ice Cream Bars and the nut counter at Sears? I don't remember Desmonds or Silverwoods. Where were they located? I would be fun to see a directory and layout of the stores through the years. Thanks for the memories Eric!

You can still remember the popcorn,Iceies( cherry original flavor, then the Blue Raspberry that came later!! Nuts, candies, big Pretzels.... And you could see everything before they remodeled Sears. The windows let the natural light in!!😊

Thanks for posting this! I worked at an ad agency literally within walking distance of Sears. Lots of great memories walking over to the mall on lunch breaks or after work. Nice job on the video. We also used to go to King’s Hawaiian Bakery & restaurant down the street for lunch/dinner frequently. I thought you already cut a video on King’s? I’ll search and scroll. If not…maybe a suggestion for a future video? As always, keep up the great work.
