Tree falls onto home in Great Kills, Staten Island

People are waking up to damage from last nights storm in Great Kills, Staten Island. Reporter Shosh Bedrosian has the story of a large, downed tree causing damage to a home there.

It did look like to me when they looked under the roots from the sidewalk that quite possibly that tree was already rotted hollow? Had to look a few times

no common sense in NYC - over grow trees everywhere - no thought or planning when planted in tiny areas around cement sidewalks ! it's common there - no common sense 🤡🙈🤷‍♀️

What roots. That is one unhealthy tree. The wind probably did not help but that tree needed more firm planting.

that's why trees need ROOM to thrive & grow properly (not planted in sidewalk mediums around cement in small area like that - it's not going to work well - and this can happen - tree becomes too too heavy ! hallo !!! it's common sense and in new york city & surrounding areas especially this is common with big trees planted in small areas that are way too big & over grown now - i lived there 3 yrs and saw that constantly ! then they wonder why trees fall on houses & roots destroy side walks! they don't take care of the old trees in central park either & they break and fall on people too 🙈🤷‍♀️ no common sense and no one gets it
