  • The E90 headlight on both the Lci and Pre Lci are kind of a pain to take apart unlike the E92's, Ive done it a couple of times before so I figured I'd document it this time around and show you guys how I did it in case anyone out there needs to fix their lights or simply modify them (Led Angel eyes, Eye lids, Paint, etc)

    How does BMW let this happen then they want 3 racks for a replacement! That’s crazy! Thank you for explaining why this happens!

    You need to re-upload because the only way to watch is on the browser which is strange.
    And omd what a nightmare! There's me watching videos of people heating up some of these Butyl sealed headlights and tearing them open like it's nothing only to find I have Permasealed PRE-LCI Xenons.
    After giving up trying to keep the top lip on I followed your way of using a multi tool and cutting the whole top lip off, I've literally just got my first lense off and I'm covered in permaseal and plastic bits lmao.
    Now that it's done, I'm worrying about it sealing properly now haha. I've got some "Reemo high performance butyl" which I've heard is really good and of course with it now being sealed with Butyl it's nice to know I can just heat it up and remove the lense in like 5 mins if I decide to get some LED angel eyes or what ever in the future.
    Thanks for the video 👍

      I have an E90 LCI version (2010). Is the lense on these LCI models easier to remove and are there different methods or is it the same as in the video?

    • @mrsweete9065
      @mrsweete9065 3 года назад +1

      @@legioner9 I think the E90's with xenons are permaseal. You could use heat and see if the lense shifts, but if heat doesn't seem to make a difference then it's safe to say its permaseal. Having done it myself, if its permaseal use this method straight away, prying will very likely result in further damage to the cover or lense cracking.

    Just fixed mine. The chrome ring fell off. I cut it open as you suggested, fixed it and glued it back. I don't know how long it will last, but it works for now.

  • @scott4036

    Do not try this on Pre-lci headlights. The angel eyes are connected to the lens and you have to break the angel eyes in order to pry it off. Ask me how I know! I researched this a ton before doing it and no one ever mentioned this about the 06-08 e90's.

    • @scarflare5578
      @scarflare5578 Год назад

      No you dont, if you open the back where the angel eye bulb is u can move away the hooks and pull the entire reflector, plastic, and angel eyes out.

    Additinional info
    1. Glue is not hard but flexible rubber before facelift USA market
    2. You don't need to cut all lenght of housing overlap but it could be possible to do only certain area
    3. Most critical point is the upper corner
    4. You can easily break some part, for example angel eye rings because they are screwed to lens at least for AFS bixenon before facelift

    For anyone who finds this video this late I had the same problem with both my headlights. I wasn’t 100% sure but after taking off the backing on the headlight the motor that controls the ball joint simply pulled out after being un screwed. I was able to fix them without taking off the lenses, You simply have to play with the projector height while moving the ball joint at different angles and depths until it reconnects. I had bought replacement sealant and had prepared to have to do all of this. If you would like videos of me doing this it is on my Instagram just ask for it

    Use the hot knife technique next time. Knife attachment on your soldering iron ;) I've done countless e90 headlights and that was by far the quickest.

    Touched the chrome by accident as I was wiping one spot and it turned black. Any fix to this? Thinking about chrome deleting it at this point.

    • @RockoOmazing
      @RockoOmazing  2 года назад +1

      yeah most of the parts inside are coated a certain way to get that finish, at this point if you really want the chrome there i think its prob best to clean that specific piece and try to paint it but even then i wouldnt know how to achieve the exact chrome with paint.. prob easier to chrome delete the whole thing .. easy off works great for removing the chrome just spray it on and let its sit and itll turn white or black depending on the plastic underneath then clean it really well with alcohol make sure no residue is left and spray paint it... if its not thouroughly cleaned the paint will have contaminants and look bad... or take the pieces to a local body shop and ask them to paint it black for you will prob run you like 50 bucks for something so small.. or maybe free if the guy is nice and had a black car to paint that day lol
