This is perfect timing! I just realized I had this problem the other day and now one of the best BMW channels posts a fix. Thanks for this keep it up
I've got to level my lights & thought I'd just check out a quick how-to & stumbled upon your page. Great video! You made it a no brainer, and that's the best how-to video! Thanks!
Thank you for the clear and concise demonstration of how to make this adjustment.
Thank you sir! I’m so glad BMW made it so easy to adjust them.
Just what I needed. Thanks.
Hi. Thanks so much for the info.
I was wandering if the adaptive headlights need to be coded/registered when replaced. Or anything else done on them with ISTA.
One of mine was replaced by a body shop and now points inside and down.
It moves up and down when I start the car and left and right when I turn.
It's just off angle.
So, before I play with the screws to align I was wandering if there is something to be done electronically with ISTA or is it possible they didn't install something correctly.
I'll appreciate any help.
Thanks
Just a little tip I learned the hard way. If you change the bulbs to say better bulbs make sure you put the socket in straight/right or your headlights will be a mess and impossible to get level/equal. 🙄
Hi.
Can you explain more in details?
I have one that was replaced by a body shop and it points to inside and down.
No errors.
It moves to all directions, it's just not straight.
Thanks
It's the steering column that senses turn position, not the control arms on my e90. Also, mine had water in the controller but the servos were ok.
thanks for this upload was going to take my car to bmw to get this sorted would have cost me a ton.... when u say 25 is that 25"? thank you again
Yes 25 inches
@@someguy2312 thank you
No he is wrong. It’s 25 feet with a 2.1 inch dip
@@matt.108 yeah i got it all wrong but did get some 1 to help it was around 2 inch
I have 2011 bmw 335i xdrive with the N55 so it’s a lci my frm got fried so I took to a shop they replaced it but didn’t completely programmed the frm so my adaptive headlights stop working so I told him can I get the error erased so he called a coder and I had it coded out. Then a couple months later my ekp got fried so I got a new one and when the new programmer was programming the ekp he found a bunch of things that was not programmed in the frm it had a bunch of question marks. Now my frm got fried again I took it a very legit shop I have the car fixed and reprogrammed now I want to code back in the adaptive headlights I miss having them and it’s hard to see at night while driving. I’m wonder if there is other way to get my adaptive lights back. You have the best vids on bmws !!
Thanks Lee. Thanks for the 2019 'DIY's, tips and tricks'. Merry Christmas and a very successful 2020 . Dutch regards, Nico
Lol “successful 2020”
Good method for setting lights, increase the distance for more accuracy the closer to the light source you measure the divergence decreases. Has anyone had a problem with one headlight bouncing with the bumps I have that problem on the passenger side what's the cause of that? It's fine when the cars not moving but going down the highway at night the street signs really show the light reflected like a motorcycle going down a bumpy road.
Hello my friend, I have a doubt that I can't find any information about it.
I have an e91 from 2010 with xenon lights, but I've notice that, when you turn it on, the lights don't do the hight test, they just eat on and that's it.
Every other car Ive seen with stock xenon, it's normal to see them do that up and down check.
Any ideia of what could it be?
Congrats for the content, from Portugal.🇵🇹
Same problem
Thanks!!!
do u have a video on changing the servo motor for headlights? my driver side low beam stuck up
Thanks brother I appreciate it straight to the point. 😊 than you
Always informative!
What about left to right adjustment?
Answer would help a lot!
@@milanbogdanovic8284 bulb may be popped out, the housing the actual bulb is in sometimes comes out of the socket per say.
@@ros102 Thanks, my problem is that my bixenon on e87 is leveled corectly up/down, but when turn Hi beams then right goes more to up and to the left?!?!
And also have a dust on lences(so still can't find video how to clean projectors)
Thank you very much for answer!!!
@@milanbogdanovic8284you can manually move them up and down but also right of left with the same method.
@@joseluis.acunap thanks, i'll try...
Great video as always! Thanks
great video! and there is any way to move them right or left ? or just up and down ?
I have the same problem. My lights need adjusting upwards and bring back into the middle as both point out to the sides following a pdc sensor replacement
@@markhewerdine8489actually there is a way to move them from right to left both ways. I found them when i put my headlights off the car.
Add new springs and control arms on the back end that are 25mm taller than the originals due to sagging back end.
Good job men.Thank you for clear explain ;)
Thank you :D
How do know the correct height of beams?
thanks... will this work on a 1999 BMW 528i ? i went in and got four new headlights and they came back from the shop all crooked... cost me hundreds of dollars.... i took it back and the guy said OH you need to adjust them? well im not paying him hundreds of dollars more for something he messed up.. they were aimed perfect when i dropped it off
i dont think he answers questions.... LOL
Very nice thank you
Question.
my looks broken., how I can fix it?
thks
Are your adaptive headlights working? Mines go up and down but one seems to get stuck either left or right. Now getting a malfunction with blinking green led on switch. Surprise you don’t have a video about this. Thanks
I have the same problem on my passenger headlight turns on but auto leveling not working
It could be the level or aligning motor failing. But more likely it is just not fully seated in the ball/socket part on the motors/headlight(you can see the ball part on the motor he’s holding up). One way to tell is if you see the light reflection on signs jiggle a little when going over bumps on the highway. It looks ghetto 🤡.
To fix it you have to take off the rear headlight cover and pull back on the inside headlight ‘frame’ (needle nose pliers work just be gentle- it doesn’t take much force). Do this while tilting the motor back to allow the ball to slip into the socket. It’s actually fairly easy once you see how it works, the PITA is getting to the back of the headlight. Supposedly you can access it thru the little panel in the splash guard, I find it unpossible lol. You’ll already have the wheel off it’s just easier to take the front splash guard all the way off.
Blinking green light is the warning of the malfunctioning adaptive lights.
what is the other adjuster? I have two adjusters on the housing.
Thats mate. Just saved me a 100
Yea!!!!!!! 🤯
Can you do this to a 2006 325I
Will this make the warning light go off?
If you have the vertical aim failure can you use this method to ensure your lights are not blinding anyone if you have standard halogens ? I got the error and s bulb out. Replaced the bulb but the vertical error still there? Please advise
I don’t see the screw adjustments anywhere on my 328i. Someone help
I need help with the adaptive headlight module
Is it normal with automatic headlight adjustment bi xenon that the driver light is adjusting comparing to the passenger light more left ?
I have heard that it's the city mode for a better lighting the road ?
huh? what the hell are you even saying?
@@bamwa exactly what I wrote
Your headlights flickering how can i fix that ?
That’s just the camera as my headlights do not flicker
also I live in Canada, where do I buy parts?
can do this also on a E61 -2006?
Is that a 2007 or 2008 335i?
2008
What if the halo is out?
Replace the bulb?
Luis HOW? It wasnt covered in the video.
Alfredo Diaz there are plenty of videos out there. If you’re gonna replace the halo bulbs I would do an angel eye conversion while you’re at it. For my 335i I turned the wheel in and there’s a cover you pop open where you can replace the bulb
Luis can you give me a link where you got your “angel eyes” for the conversion? Thanks!
Alfredo Diaz there are more on Amazon just search “angel eyes”
I have halogen bulbs 😬
clockwise lowers the light, counter clockwise raises the light, you are the most unclear person in explaining things. good thing you arent a teacher
First
what about the horizontal adjustment?
