Would love to see work on an OSS project with a maintainer, either adding types or improving them. Could also do a sponsored segment with a dev tools company that has an open core model. I think everybody wins there.
@@danielarrizza4985 that's a fantastic idea! do you know any such project? re: sponsorships, we're not doing (and have never done) any sponsorships of any kind, but if it's an interesting project then that's all we care about!
I’m sure there are OSS maintainers in your community, but one issue I run into often is generic functions with drizzle. Re:sponsorships, could also be a donation to a code related charity if that would make it feel less commercial
Awesome! You can really see the passion and hard work that's gone in. Hopefully I'll fly out one day and check some of the meetups out in person. Cheers from Croatia ❤👋
that'd be incredible! if you ever do this, though, make sure to check in with us first on the Discord to be totally totally sure there will be one. and no matter the case: lunch is on us if you're ever in town!
its cool to see what kind of gear you use for video since i'm only familiar with audio stuff what if you could set up a microphone to capture the audience (somewhere near the front, facing away from the speaker (the human one..) and toward the audience), then manually edit it in whenever there's a question? i'm curious if there would be too much reverberation, too distracting or hard to hide, or it's just too tedious to manually edit it in
great suggestion! as amazing as this venu is (and it really is!) the one problem is that this room is _REALLY_ echo-y. they put in some sound dampening on the walls (that's what those hexes are) but with all that concrete flooring there's not a whole lot you can do about it. It sure would be nice, though! Thanks for the suggestion!
@@MichiganTypeScript Apologies on replying late, typically it's due to a write error with the SSD you're recording to or it overheats which could result in the same write error if the usb-c port get's too hot. These extreme isos tend to do that, we implemented a laptop cooling fan to help. And that helped some, but we recently started phasing out the ATEMs for Epiphan Pearls, specifically the Pearl-2 for our larger needs, and Pearl Minis for our breakout room kits we use for our clients at work. They've been really solid as I believe the os running them is linux. Really wanted their new product called Nexus as it's a rackmount version of the minis, but we had to make a pivot quickly as we were giving too much in discounts for failed/lost recordings...
@@benjaminjhewlettwow that's really great insight. never heard of the Pearls. the fan added in the back of the video rack is basically just for the ATEM because it gets so incredibly hot (especially when in an enclosure like that). maybe that's why we haven't had too too many problems: because the ATEM is actively cooled (the probe for the fan is basically attached to the ATEM). Definitely going to look into the Epiphan stuff! thanks!!
do you transport all this gear to the venue every time or can you store it at the venue? (i.e. a storage room, just so that the room in the video can be used for other things and nobody can access your equipment)
really? that's sad to hear, but understandable. it takes so much time and attention to do this well (even, like you said, at half the amount of effort we put in).
Hey, just wanted to pass by here to show my appreciation for this channel, keep up the good work guys!
thanks! it's a labor of love, for sure!
I’ve been very curious about how you make it look so professional. Love the passion and knowledge sharing!
thanks! we're definitely a bunch 'a try-hards! haha. glad it translates on you side!
What would you like to see more of?

so cool!!

Awesome set up! Love the redundancy! Regarding the ATEM extreme, have you ever had the rec light flicker red on you and refuse to stop?
you know what..... we did have that happen once a long time ago. why does it happen??

nope: transport every time. don't skip leg day at the gym! (or, honestly, back day)
if only all the dev conventions and meetup only put half your effort into their productions... many great talks ruined by bad video or audio etc.
