This video was long in the making. I ended up having surgery after my last video upload. Recovery has been going really well, but slow. I also ended up getting a new video setup including a camera, a few lenses, and lighting. It’s taken me a while to figure it all out. Having to work around recovery, new gear, and setup has proven to be very time consuming. Thank you all for your patience and for always coming back to watch my videos. I honestly appreciate it. If it’s your first time here, welcome and thank you.

The wii for me was the console that I would go to friends houses to play. I didn't have one in it's hay day.... but everyone else did. It was a constant occurance to hit up some mario kart or wii sports (resort) at literally anyone elses house.
I ended up getting a wii u in 2015 but that was passed the point when I would've had the most fun with it. My brothers were grown up and had jobs, also my sister was going through some intense brain surgery. This sorta hampered the whole dream I had with smash bros with the bros, or daily mario kart tourneys. I love my wii u/wii but I do wish maybe my timing of getting it was better.
Even to this day I purchase a lot of games with local multiplayer in mind, even though I spend the overwhelming majority of my gaming time in single player. I just can't help but think about the good memories I have with my brothers and friends back in "the good ol' days"

    • @NeanderMeander
      @NeanderMeander  Год назад +1

I have been playing the vast majority of my games in single player for many years. Occasionally I'll get together with my brother and we'll play Halo, Mario Kart, or old NES/SNES games. We used to do it all the time. But now, things have changed and we've moved to different cities. Those were awesome times that I think about often. Nothing beats couch co-op game sessions that go on late into the night. We've played online, but it's not the same. I do however like single player games. I've come to appreciate the time I get to focus solely on game and not have to compete for interact with anyone else. I've learned that it's a needed break from everything that helps me almost recharge. What I've also found though, is that I like sharing my single player stories and experiences with others that also like single player games. It's almost like a local multiplayer game session. I'll never forget playing through Breath of the Wild for the first time. That was magical. Everything was up to me. But, what also made it even more special is that other people were experiencing it at the same time and having their own magical moments. It was as if we were all separated, but together at the same time.
I think about those good times back when I could dedicate time to getting together with friends and family to play video games. I think those were some the happiest times in my life and that's why I treasure them so much. Thank you for watching and sharing your story.

The Wii will always have place to be at home. This isn't just a gaming console, it's a work of art. The design, the controllers, the philosophy behind, the music. It's something that came out of pure creativity, lateral thinking and genius. Designed and created by some of my all time fav developers. I still remember when I first bought it back in 2006: switched it on for the first time and that wonderful piece of music started playing. I sold mine to get my 3DS back then and recently bought it again few years ago. I just want this thing to be at home.
What I love about your channel is that you often cover what's for me the golden era of Nintendo. the DS-3DS/Wii-WiiU Era. And Iwata-San was leading the company. What a time.

I’d disagree a bit on the controllers analysis. In the late 90’s the N64 controller was different but it was a clear evolution from SNES. Its like a SNES controller plus the legs for grip and an analog stick in the sense of an Atari stick centered. At the time it was unique and before any standardization we would later see. GC is a clear shift towards more standardization with some concepts pure Nintendo like a larger A button, the analog triggers and just two prongs. They stood out compared to NES and SNES but not as people think of them now with many many years in between. Nintendo is a major controller innovator so you see those experiments.

I remember when the N64 controller came out. It looked like it came from the future. I remember being very jealous that it had an analog stick and my PS1 controller didn’t. I completely skipped the N64, only playing it a handful of times at my cousins house. I thought the controller was amazing! I still like it to this day. Thanks for being honest with your comment. First, glad to hear your surgery went well! Next, I ❤️ the 4K resolution!! I actually sold a couple more games in my collection, made about $150! For my Wii story, I pre-ordered it back in 2006, my boss let me and my coworker get a shot at pre-ordering it, first GameStop was unsuccessful, but the second location I hurried in and the district manager that was there(kinda surreal now that I think about that day)and said to me, "...and you get the last one!" And actually my coworker got his pre-ordered too, as the District manager gave him his! That was awesome! And when I got it in my hands, I had pre-ordered Zelda Twilight Princess and actually took off that week just to play my new Wii! Funny though, I actually spent 2 days playing Wii Sports Bowling, I'm a big bowling fan, so I really loved that! I eventually got to Twilight Princess haha! In fact, I had a tradition to bring my Wii to Thanksgiving that went unbroken until my grandmother passed away in 2015, then my family really didn't get together too much more after that. But I always cherish it. As always, keep up the great work. I'll be starting production of Season 14 of "Power Up!" in March, and I plan on 6-8 episodes, staggered with the seasons(spring, summer, etc.)to give myself time for other projects that I really want to do, non game related. Last season of "Power Up!" and the more artistic cinematic format for the opening credits were a nice testing ground for doing more stuff like that. AAAAAAAAAA I'm so jealous that u have Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door.
It was really one of my favourite games when I was little. (And it was the Pinnacle for Paper Mario, imo).
My dad "lent" it to a friend, to which who he doesnt have any form of contact anymore :(
    Back to Video Topic:
The Wii made the console really felt like some sort of TV for me. The "Channels" system for the UI was just perfect for that time. Everything had a channel, the Mii Channel, Check Mii Out Channel and the Nintendo Channel were my favs. Also, loved the thought of the Message Board on the Wii, that way one can always stay connected with friends and family, either via the Friends-Code feature or the local use of another Mii. It was fun adding and reading notes, that my friends or nintendo sent me. Sometimes even my parents left a note there, it really was the definition of a family-console! (yes, I dont see the switch as a family console. it is rather a personal console with local dual screen mutiplayer compatibility. Also, the Switch does not feel playful like any other nintendo consoles. Nintendo, bring back Home-Screen music smh. And the Mii's GET THEM BACK HERE!)
Never got the Virtual Console titles for the Wii unfortunately, back then my Dad was the only one in the house with a credit card and he did not trust online purchases. Really loved the "movement" type of gameplay when I was younger, even tho to todays standarts the tracking was.. not good.
Also loved that one can connect their DS via Download Play to certain Wii Channels and Games. that was always fun, made me feel like a small hacker-boi!
I still remember playing Twilight Princess with my dad, cause that game was too scary for smol Cylros.
Also, on a unrelated side note:
It was possible to play the Nintendo Wii games on the Wii U Gamepad-Only. Smol Cylros found out, and Smol Cyl loved that feature!

Anyways, thanks to have you back!

Thats an interesting point of view. I never thought of the wii that way, quite the opposite indeed. I bought a wii to play motion games, and some of the sequels like mario galaxy.
It wasnt until the wiiu and 3ds when i started buying virtual console titles, and not a whole lot of them.
i kept my wii for a while after buying a wii u, but eventually got rid of it since the wii u really replaced it completely. i still have my gamecube as well. i might one day get a wii mini just to play wii games on the crt.

I'm sure most people got a Wii because they were interested in motion controls. I wasn't interested in them at all. I still don't really like them unless it adds to the game like a first person shooter.

so i have a technical question about copying 3ds sd card information and sharing it with other 3ds's. so i believe i can copy information from one sd card to another and have 2 3ds sharing the same digital games and all. now if thats true what would happen if i shared my new 3ds xl's information (that has snes games) with an original 2ds? could i just delete the snes games on the 2ds? also would it just give me an error message if i attempt to play them?

This is a really good question that I don't know the answer to. I've never tried to go backwards with my sd card information.
