    Phantoms in the end is one of the ideas people toss around a lot. But if you try it out using mods, it's even worse. They'd have to be localized to end cities or some other structure. Phantoms attacking while bridging across the void is the worst.

      Maybe they could add a flag in the programming where it checks to see if you have Elytra equipped before it spawns a phantom on you. Cub's idea was to have scalable difficulty. The longer you're in the End, the more likely phantoms would spawn, and chances are you'd have found an Elytra by then.

    Something I would change with your coral Idea is that bonemealing them makes no sense, they're animals rather than plants, so I would say that you should be able to place any cobble next to a coral block and the coral should then be able to spread the same way grass does to dirt 😊

      Agreed, I'm currently using a resource pack to hide beacon beams because i built a grid lf them to provide speed, haste, jump boost, and regen across my base/spawn town. That many beams is honestly just ugly.
      Plus its a practical incentive to build more expensive beacons for resource mining areas.
      I would have iron & emerald both do 50 blocks since they are so cheap. (Even without a raid farm). Then following the progression of gold, diamond, netherite boost it by 50 blocks each tier.

    I’m down with the coral idea, but i just figure it should be at least a lil bit harder. Maybe give it a low chance to grow. Enough that sometimes, a block just refuses to grow and in general, takes 10-18 bonemeal. Perhaps alongside a condition that it must be on another coral block.
    Even though coral does have real world efforts to preserve them, and it could be possible to represent that in the game, making it too renewable removes the feeling of it being threatened.

      Coral relies on a symbiotic relationship with zooxanthellae (a type of yellow algae) for its color, so maybe Mojang could add that somehow into the game, but I’d imagine a lot of players would complain about them adding that when its only use may be for growing coral.
      (A solution to this would be to make gathering smaller coral and fans harder, also using zooxanthellae instead of bonemeal, and maybe even using zooxanthellae to revive dead coral.)

    I think beacon material should affect the beam and it's effect, not just the aesthetics. I would like a larger radius. When you compare a beacon to a conduit, you see how smalle the beacon is. I'd also like other minerals available as materials, like redstone, copper, and amethyst.
    For aesthetic changes, maybe use the raw ore block instead of the refined ore block, thus giving another use for Silk Touch.

    I am going to suggest that Coral needs a rework, but not in the way you suggest; coral is a living animal, not a plant, so the internal logic of bonemealing coral blocks to spread them is not consistent. I would like to suggest a living coral mob, that functions comparably to a Shulker, where it attaches to coral blocks similar to how fan coral generates. Every full moon there is a small chance that the coral reproduces automatically (generating offspring on a hydrated living coral block within a certain radius), and when a coral mob successfully reproduces there is a greater than 50% chance that they die off, leaving behind a coral fan. If coral offspring try to generate on a coral block that is covered in coral fans, it will turn one of these coral fans into a coral block and generate on top of that block.

    I think they should change the spawning condition for phantoms, not the location. Instead of spawning due to a lack of sleep, they should spawn due to a guilty conscience. If a villager were to die near you then you would get the Pantom Curse. It doesn't matter who or what killed the villager, it only matters that you feel bad about its death and so now phantoms will haunt you. Maybe there's a twentyfive percent chance that every time you kill a phantom the curse will go away, or you could simply have a bucket of milk.

    The other problem with phantom spawning right now is that if you _do_ have the insomnia game rule turned off, it makes it almost impossible to get phantom membranes because literally the only way to obtain them is from a 1 in 31 chance from a cat gift every night, so having some other way of spawning them in would help in this regard. Granted membranes aren't too useful right now, but if they did get more of a use this would definitely be a bigger problem.

    One idea I have had for a few years for Phantoms is that there should be a non undead, passive version of them. If they're undead, they have to be an undead version of *something* right? Just have passive ones flying through the void... maybe they fly towards cities to point the way or something. And as you suggested, the longer you stay in the end, the more likely they are to turn hostile.

  • @NotaroName

    The real problem with phantoms is that they require you to sleep. A part of minecraft was lost when we all started sleeping through every night. I miss the danger and thrill of surviving the first night.
    I propose that phantoms be changed to spawn when you sleep instead of when you don't, this makes sense if they are meant to be a nightmare. If you sleep out in the open you will be attacked by phantoms, woken up and have to fight. That encourages you, to build a structure around your bed, in a game about building your starter house is now useful again, a little tent is a useful structure to build when out exploring.

    Sleeping needs some work, I agree. Not touching on Insomnia itself (I think it needs to be more than a mere phantom on/off button, making it similar to Bad Omen or common gaming implementations of Death's Sting), beds should be sleepable at all times and even in all dimensions. The thing that happens when you sleep in a bed (advancing the night, explosion, etc) should only happen when you exit the bed. If we're going to regard the End as a nightmare to wake up from, then perhaps in the End the bed becomes an emergency exit back to the overworld (no more bedwars with the ender dragon), which would be really handy pre-dragonfight if you forgot something (ie, blocks to bridge around with).
    The mineshaft starts out nonsensical, in that the start point doesn't have to connect to anything else (spawner dungeons have to be attached to caves or another open-air space.) Maybe structures need to "snap" to some entrance-point that is then used to invalidate procedural expansion from the start point in that direction (thereby overwriting or crossing through the entryway). Being the startpoint of the mineshaft, perhaps some "furniture"-like creative builds of machinery or just simple-machines inclusions for ore-processing and the like (autosmelters, etc) as a sort of pregenerated starter base/outpost/camp.
    I like the red netherbrick change, but I see it as analogous to the 1.9 end changes versus what players now call for (the modern End Update is what I refer to it as). There's no reason to suggest red nether bricks are at all related to the crimson set. I would love to see the crimson/warped idea get more of a mossed texture instead of just being a solid-color variation of the original. Perhaps the original red nether bricks could be shunted over to the dyable group to give them their first complex-texture option (all of the dyable sets, with the exception of the glazed terracotta, are mainly solid-color with only minor elements breaking up the texture--the gleaming specks in glass, the granules in concrete powder, the threads in wool, etc).

      @ShiraKiryuu 5 часов назад

    I like the idea of the corals since it is better than just crafting the coral fans to make a block. I always hate non-renewable blocks that you only get by destroying a part of your world. Heck, even dirt is renewable and that's everywhere. Make more non-renewable blocks renewable. ESPECIALLY Sand.

    • @jasonreed7522
      @jasonreed7522 4 часа назад

      Dirt is a great example, there are atleast 2 pathways for fully renewable dirt using either gravel -> course dirt, or moss -> podzol.
      And if you aren't in a skyblock world its everywhere. Underground blobs usually have a couple stacks worth each so thats a good source without destroying the surface, and the surface dirt is 4 blocks deep so you can theoretically skim 2-3 layers off without it ruining the look of the area. (Let the grass grow back and don't leave floating trees and stuff, along with blending the edges. But its possible)
      Basically dirt has 2 renewable pathways when it technically doesn't need them for normal worlds. And i consider that good game design, we need more pathways to make different blocks renewable in large amounts. (Wandering trader is cool but sells like 5 of an item and comes once every 20min or so which is not an industrial supply of anything.)

    I always thought Phantoms could be much less annoying with just some small tweaks.
    Taking quick naps in the day I think would go a long way to addressing that but I also thought it would be good to know when theyre due. Maybe if each painting has a 'pahntom variant' with a phantom hidden somewhere in the painting to tie in with the insomnia theme, while also giving paintings a use beyond decoration.
    Also they shouldn't show up at all until after you first visit the end, and they stop coming if you die, until you visit the end again.

    I disagree with the way you implemented the creeper explosion causing dripstone to drop. With a cone above the creeper, this makes it so that if a creeper was standing next to the dripstone but was out of the blast radius, it wouldn't trigger. The creeper would specifically HAVE to be underneath the dripstone which wouldn't be very accurate imo and not make much sense. Plus drawing a cone bounding box takes more processing than just a simple sphere or box around the creeper that could have a set radius that causes all dripstone within the selection to fall. Could even add a check to make sure that every dripstone doesn't fall that way it isn't a surefire way that the player WILL die XD

    For the warped nether brick, I think it would make more sense to add a new nether plant called Warped Wart that can be used to craft them as well as warped wart blocks. It can be found in fortresses that generate in a warped forest and is used in brewing the same way nether wart is. (also maybe rename nether wart to crimson wart)

    Different beacon beams for different materials is a cool idea, but how would you handle beacon bases made out of multiple different materials? Since we're trying not to alter the functionality of beacons, we can't just say "a beacon base doesn't work if it's made of more than one material", so we'd need a way to handle beacon beams for mixed material bases.

  • @pepearown4968
    @pepearown4968 Час назад

    Can’t you mix ore blocks into beacon pyramids? What would the beam look like with a beacon that uses multiple types of ore blocks?
    Also, I have to disagree with the phantom suggestion, as slow falling potions already help fix how broken the Ender dragon’s toss ability is, and, as other commenters mentioned, having phantoms spawn everywhere in the End would make bridging very difficult, and highly risky. (Which it already is with Endermen getting on your void bridges)

    To everyone saying phantoms should not spawn in the end because it makes early bridging too dangerous: Cub states that they would only start spawning after spending a long time in the end, meaning the player would probably be able to get an elytra beforehand. Also, bridging across end islands is already too easy as there is nothing dangerous as long as you play it safe.

    • @pepearown4968
      @pepearown4968 Час назад

      Endermen spawns are incredibly high when bridging. The last point isn’t true.

  • @Lea_D.
    @Lea_D. 2 часа назад

    I like everything except the phantoms in the End. Phantoms don't "fit in" with the End and don't make sense there IMO. Bridging across the Void is already plenty dangerous and scary enough--Adding such a high risk of being knocked into the void is out of proportion to the penalty of permanently losing all your stuff. Endermen can knock you off but that is balanced by the ability to avoid aggro-ing them by not looking at them. Second, you'd want to sleep before entering so you'd have to wait around until night to do that (unless resting in the bed from Episode 1 resets your insomnia clock). Third, there's probably going to be an End update at some point and Mojang will come up with some mob that fits in with better with the End biome. I do like the idea of limiting them to a certain biome or two though.
    While I agree having the different beacon materials should do something different, it should be more than just a different appearance of the beam.

    Also, make the coral grow back but very slowly. I think the idea behind coral being non renewable is because of the distraction of the coral reefs at the time and how it's being destroyed faster than it can regrow.

    Also coral is not a plant. You can't bone meal it. But I like the idea of having fans grow on artificial reafs. A real artificial reaf with coral structures, in the warm ocean and not just a couple bits of coral to make a farm. I also think instead of adding light to the Amethyst blocks, why not just remove the light from the clusters?

    I am strongly against having phantoms in the end. The last thing I want is to be hit by a phantom while bridging over the void after a couple hours of not finding an end city. Even after getting the elytra having to deal with both shulker bullets and phantoms would be so frustrating. And with out the ability to sleep in the end there would be no way to stop phantoms from spawning. I already don't go to the end very often past getting an elytra. This change would make me not want to go at all.

    The coral idea is really bad, it's actually very cool that it cannot easily be farmed. If you could bonemeal it, someone would figure out an OP farm and it would ruin a lot of gameplay (e.g. getting the materials to build an underwater breathing thingy would now never be worth it anymore). The current situation creates a lot of opportunities for people to build structures around coral reefs -- for example see Gem's in S10 of HC.

    Please don't put phantoms in the end. That's worse than them in the overworld. They will knock you into the void constantly. I'd like the end to be a more viable place to spend your time, not a less viable one. The end shouldn't be a barren wasteland, players have been demanding an end rework for years.
    I do like the idea of the dripstone but I don't think Mojang will ever add it because caving is one of the first things new players do and it would make caves too dangerous.
    My only issue with the red nether brick change is that nether wart already has too few uses, taking this away makes them just for potions. Minecraft already has enough single use items without taking away uses from some of the few that have a couple.
