    My best advice is do the multiple choice 1000x until I got all of the right and I wrote notes on why I got any of them wrong.

      Great tip for getting real good at those multiple choice questions and continuing to hammer in those difficult topics. Doing multiple choice questions was something I also did often when commuting via public transit to and from work via the Becker CPA mobile app.

    In Brazil, we have almost the same CPA "process". When you graduate, there is a test to prove that you know the basics of accounting and just after that you are a real accountant. After this, you are able to try for the Brazilian CPA exams (some Big 4 senior associates don't study for the test properly. Just busy season experience is enough to pass the Audit exam).
    By the way, nice tips, and hope everybody passes this difficult test.

    • @TannerCoxCPA
      @TannerCoxCPA  2 года назад

      Thank you, Hetal! You don’t necessarily need to start at an accounting firm. No matter where you start you should hopefully be presented with various opportunities. The key then is to connect the opportunities and the work you do to the content you are learning in the materials as it makes it much easier to digest and understand.

    Great tips! I am currently working full time and it is a struggle for real. I find I am much more efficient if I could get up early and do most of the study first thing in the morning for sure. I have two more sections to go, hope to pass all of them soon!

    • @TannerCoxCPA
      @TannerCoxCPA  2 года назад +1

      Thank you and appreciate the view! The struggle can be so real but I can promise you that feeling of accomplishment once you pass that last exam will be amazing. Getting up early when the distractions are at a minimal and putting your phone out of reach can really set you up for efficient study time. That is the name of the game to study as efficiently as possible as you have a life to live outside of work and studying. You are halfway there and wish you all the luck in your CPA exam journey!!!

    • @TannerCoxCPA

      Great question! For myself personally I felt I was able to easily leverage what I had learned in college for BEC and FAR and even some of REG. AUD seemed 10x easier after being in the profession for 6+ months and would believe this would apply for any of the exams. If you are able to leverage work experiences to the content it makes it SO MUCH easier as it becomes less of a memorization exercise of a particular concept.

    • @TannerCoxCPA
      @TannerCoxCPA  2 года назад

      Thank you for watching! I'll definitely try to make a detailed video outlining this progression. Not much really changed in my study habits from AUD exam to AUD exam but the key differentiator that made it so much easier for me was having time in the audit profession for over 6 months. It one thing to be memorizing concepts and its a game changer if you can take those concepts and apply them to what you do at work each day at work. Having those real life exams to relate the study material for myself make it so much easier for me.

    In Illinois, a CPA candidate needs 150 credits to sit for the exam. You said that you moved from "Campus?" to Chicago. Did you already have the required amount of credits? I am from Chicago but I am currently going to school and working in Michigan but I have plans of going back to Chicago after graduation. The requirements to sit for the CPA Exam in Michigan are 120 credits unlike Illinois. Will I be able to sit for the exam in Michigan and then get licensed in Illinois once I procure my 150 credits ? If you are able to reply, thanks a lot for the reply !

    • @TannerCoxCPA
      @TannerCoxCPA  3 года назад +2

      Great question! So I moved from WI which has a similar rule of needing just 120 credits to sit for the exam meanwhile IL had 150 credits. Since I was going to move to IL after graduation I needed to be licensed in IL. Thus I needed 150 credits even though I was taking the exams in WI at the time.
      However for IL candidates I believe you can receive "provisional" approval to take the CPA exam while completing educational requirements. You will have 120 days from the time you take the exam to submit final transcripts to clear the "provisional status." For me I just took my first CPA shortly after graduating with my 150 credits. Hope this helps to answer you question!

      @@TannerCoxCPA Thanks a lot for the info ! One more question: Did you get a Masters degree or did you fill the 150 credit requirement by taking any courses of your choosing ? I would like to get a Masters but I definitely don’t wish to get a Masters in Accounting since I will already have a Bachelors in Accounting. I aspire to work for the Big 4 post graduation. Do you think the Masters will be of help? Thanks a lot, Tanner !

      The best thing you can do is building connections (LinkedIn if unable to meet people in person) and start applying. Won’t always get the first job offer or two but take what you learn from the application process and keep applying.

    I love CPA's. They love nothing more than to talk about the CPA Exams. I remember when I was taking the bar, CPAs would say, "yeah, I know what that's like. . . . I took the CPA exams." Lol. I had to bite my tongue. Gotta love those single-day exams vs the bar that goes for two solid days (three in some places or if you're going for two-jurisdiction licensure). You get one shot on the Bar. No "Partial credit". If you fail, you have to start all over again. Passage Rates are misleading, too, because most of the would-be-exam-fails have been weeded out first through admissions processes, and then through the coursework itself.
    Y'all CPA's are just so darn cute thinking it's difficult, though!

    • @TannerCoxCPA
      @TannerCoxCPA  2 года назад +3

      Comparing the CPA exams to the Bar is really like comparing apples and oranges. For both of these exams, you need to study for countless hours. The material on each is difficult. That’s basically the extent of the similarities. The tests are VERY DIFFERENT. Each is among the hardest of the standardized exams, but they are this way for different reasons.
      While it’s extremely difficult to study and understand such a massive amount of information, there’s not too many surprises on the Bar exam. The CPA exam is far different in terms of content. The four sections are drastically different, so you’re going to break the studying into specific topics for each test. Your exam may not cover everything and could actually include just a small portion of what you studied.
      So, in the end, it’s difficult to say which is more difficult as it will depend on one’s study habits. For a short period of your life, the Bar exam will be the WORST thing in the entire world. This is not a feeling that you’ll have with the CPA, as that test is more extended misery.

    • @dadada3529
      @dadada3529 10 дней назад

      Actually, now the CPA passing rate is lower than BAR’s. They both are pretty torturing, in some different ways.
