    Thanks man for creating this video. I have an Overland trim and about to put a 2.5 teraflex lift on in a few weeks. Your video gave me perspective and and great idea on how it will drive. Now I just have to decide on tires and which is such a hard choice. I do offroad and camp often plus it's my daily.

    What's the service regiment for the Rusty's control arms? Are they a standard flex style joint?

    • @ScrufsGarage
      @ScrufsGarage  2 года назад +1

      I opted to go with the forged rubber ends as they tend to make less noise and don't require any maintenance. I can share that after 12k miles, they're holding up great. No issues at all.

      @TRD_Cueto 2 года назад

      @@ScrufsGarage awesome, so the forged rubber ends don't need service, ever? No zero fittings? This would be the route I go.

    Thank you for all the information I just got my 2021 overland high altitude did they fix the steering in the 2021 because I feel like there is no play at all. I’m wanting to do a mopar 2 inch with 35’s but wonder if I can keep my rims since they are 20’s and black

    • @ScrufsGarage
      @ScrufsGarage  3 года назад +1

      Yes that's correct, I believe all of the 2021's got the new steering gear box. Congrats on the new Overland! A Mopar 2" with 35"s would look excellent. If keeping the stock wheels, you might get some minor rubbing at full steering lock? If you have time, check over on the Gladiator forum and see if someone has run a similar setup. I think it would be a great looking setup up though with the black wheels!

    Can I ask you why you went with the fox shocks and not the falcon shocks. I’m trying to decide between the two? That is the Falcon 2.1 the basic falcon shock

    • @ScrufsGarage
      @ScrufsGarage  3 года назад

      I had read good things about both the Fox shocks and the Falcons. In the end, I could get the Fox shocks a little cheaper and since I was already bleeding money with the project, that helped sway me to the Fox shocks, haha. I have been very happy with the Fox shocks, but I haven't had the chance to compare them with the Falcons. I don't think you'd be disappointed either way.

    I liked the video a lot! Curious on why you went with this kit and not Rusty's JT Gladiator 2" Budget Boost Kit $140? Trying to decide for myself

    • @ScrufsGarage
      @ScrufsGarage  2 года назад +1

      There are certainly less expensive options. I just decided that I wanted a more complete lift kit, with replacement springs. I liked the adjustable front lower control arms to help dial in the caster. And it came with an adjustable front track bar to recenter the front axle. And I wanted to get the Fox shocks, and wanted to be able to order a longer length instead of using shock extensions. So for the price, it turned out to be a pretty good setup. Again, most of these things aren't "must-have's", but I've been happy with it. Zero issues with the Rusty's kit.

    I'm just now finding your channel and seeing this video. I am looking at the 4" Rusty's Advanced Kit and also the 3.5" JKS J-Venture Kit. Are you still pretty satisfied with the Rusty's lift? I have a Sport S Max Tow and would be running 37 x 12.5's on the same exact wheels you have.

      Yes, I'm still very happy with my Rusty's lift. I've done some road trips, and towed my enclosed car trailer with it. No issues with it at all.

      Yes, still holding up well. I have about 11k miles on the lift so far. I've done of light overlanding/camping trips with it, and towed a 8.5x16 enclosed trailer with it. No issues, and no complaints.

    When your truck bed is loaded, does it sway and bounce annoyingly on highways?

    • @ScrufsGarage
      @ScrufsGarage  3 года назад

      No, I can't say I've noticed that, especially if it's loaded. I would say it generally rides better when there's a load in the back. I haven't hauled a lot of weight just in the bed that often, though right after I put the lift on, I hauled the new tires and wheels in the bed to the tire shop. So that would have been about 400 lbs in the bed. I have however towed a 16' cargo trailer for about 1,000 miles. I don't know the exact tongue weight but it's probably in the 500 lb range. The truck rides very nice with that load on the back. The disclaimer in all that however is that it still rides like a Jeep... ie that it has soft flexy springs for going off-road. And you certainly feel that when towing an enclosed trailer; you get a lot more sway when traffic is passing the trailer. It definitely doesn't ride/handle like the F150 I had previously.

    What’s your front fender height? I have a sport that I put rubicon springs and shocks on, trying to decide if i want to do the 2 or 3 inch lift since it looks like you had something similar to the sport setup and gained 2.5 inches.

    I’m wanting to run 37” tires, Do you think I would need the 4” lift to do so?Great videos bye the way👍🏽

    • @ScrufsGarage
      @ScrufsGarage  3 года назад +2

      Would 37"s fit with the 2" lift? Technically yes. Me personally, I don't like the tires looking stuffed in the wheel wells, so I would want a bit more lift for 37"s. You could do the 4" lift, or you could just add some 1" spacers and I think that would look ok too. With the adjustable front lower control arms and adjustable track bars, you have plenty of adjustable to handle a bit more lift.

    DO YOU NEED TO RE-GEAR YOUR GLADIATOR RUBICON TO RUN 37's

    • @ScrufsGarage
      @ScrufsGarage  2 года назад +1

      "Need" is very subjective. My Overland with 3.73 gears and 35"s is very similar in gearing to a Rubicon with 4.10s and 37"s. I don't feel that I "need" to regear. Would regearing help? Yes, for sure. But I drive mine daily, and have towed my enclosed trailer and race car with it, and it does just fine. Hope that helps.

      Yes still doing good. Took a road trip to the mountains with the wife a few weeks ago. Jeep did great. I’m still working from home so I’m not putting many miles on it. I think I have around 6k miles on the lift kit now.

      @ScrufsGarage  3 года назад +1

      No issues so far. Have about 4,000 miles on the suspension so far. I've done some towing with an 8.5x16 enclosed trailer (loaded around 4000+ lbs) and had no issues. I've been satisfied with the ride quality.

      @@ScrufsGarage I’m trying to decide between this and the Mopar lift. I have a rubicon and really enjoy the ride. I understand Rustys is much more complete - but I’m really focusing on the springs/ shocks combo and if I’d be disappointed. I know you said in the vid your ride felt firmer. I also know running e rated tires has something to do with that

    • @ScrufsGarage
      @ScrufsGarage  3 года назад +1

      Yea, it was between the Mopar kit and the Rusty's kit for me also. I haven't ridden in a Gladiator with the Mopar kit, but I can't imagine it being significantly different vs the Rusty's. But that said, the Mopar kit gets a lot of positive feedback, so it certainly wouldn't be a bad choice. Though I would plan on adding an adjustable front track bar to recenter the front axle. While the Rusty's kit also includes a rear adj track bar, I think you'd be fine without it.

    • @gogriffs2541

      @@ScrufsGarage when you say “satisfied” with the ride quality - is this a truck you take long road trips with? I drive mine A LOT. I actually really enjoy the ride quality of the rubicon suspension and I already have 37s on it w a 1.5 tf level so I’m used to the change in tire. I know you said in your vid you thought you felt the bumps more but it may be the E rated tires. What attracted me to this set up was the Eibach springs and shocks. (I know you’re running fox’s). I’m in analysis paralysis and I don’t want to be disappointed lol. But I also believe more expensive doesn’t always mean better !

    • @ScrufsGarage
      @ScrufsGarage  3 года назад +1

      In my opinion, I didn't notice much of a change from the ride quality of the stock suspension, which I mean as a compliment. I use the word "satisfied" because I don't want to over-sell the ride quality of the suspension. some people act like changing brands of shocks suddenly takes it from riding like a wagon to a Cadillac; but I personally just don't believe that. It still rides like a Jeep, that's just the fundamentals of the suspension. The longest trip I've taken it on was about 5hrs each way. It is my daily driver and I wouldn't hesitate to take it on a long trip. Does it ride as nice as my wife's Acura RDX? No. But that's comparing apples to banana's haha.

    Great video man! Good info/well presented and easy to follow. I was leaning towards the the Dynatrac 2" lift (with Mopar LCA's) but been doing research on the Rusty's so this is good info. Avoiding the Mopar lift as I want 35's and not a higher C.G from that taller kit. I guess I just gotta pull the trigger on something LOL
