I have parking sensors in my 2002 Jaguar X-Type. Even though it can be a nice tool, the harsh winters here in Canada mean that frost builds up on the rear from exhaust moisture. This causes the sensors to blare non-stop every time I switch to reverse. Slightly embarrassing when I have to explain the noise to passengers.
I agree the tape deck was difficult. When they wear out. They would jam the tape or eat the tape till it look like noodles. Try finding your song on your cassette driving a manual in traffic. Not very easy.
I kinda like my big Dodge truck with heated and air conditioned seats and heated steering wheel... when its -40 out it comes in quite handy.. then again i live in northern Canada and things are a wee bit different here
Understandable. Here in Scandinavia, heated front seats were standard way before air conditioning (early 2000s), power windows (early 90s) and probably even power steering (early 80s).
In regards to the airbag comment, it really is true. I drive my 80's porsche a lot more carefully than any other car simply because its a death trap with no driver aids. With modern cars its like a get out of jail free card and can make you more careless as a result.
They evolved into dual clutch automatics and automated manual transmissions. Edit: it’s not clear in the video if he’s referring to AutoStick/Electronic Range Selection etc. because that’s what he describes in the video. Literally all automatic transmission cars I’ve driven in the last 5 years have that. Even my parents Ram 1500 has it. 😂 I prefer to shift my own with an actual clutch.
That BMW 750iL is unbelievably gorgeous.
Agreed....the last great and beautiful 7 series.
Now years later most of these features are pretty common, standard or downright mandatory (airbag) on most cars.
This has aged about as well as Jeremy Clarkson
Mr. BEAN!!!!!
Jeremy, a living legend! And he was right every time, in some way...
"The most complicated stereo in the world" is a tape deck! That seems pretty funny looking back.
but it has Morm which was pretty sicq at the time

Love that retracting steering wheel on Jag :D
Very cool
I like the 996 Porsche with amber directionals all around (and on the Boxster as well). It makes all the difference, aesthetic-wise.
The gen 2 996 looks a lot more crisp than this gen 1.

Volvo's DSTC is probably one of the greatest TC ever made

Maybe heated bumpers will become a thing 😂
The side airbags are to protect the body
do enjoy that weed my pants feeling of heated seats. or just weeing my pants. but NEVER do both.
E39 528 saloon, SLS, Double glazing, sunroof, cruise, Harman Kardon
Now we have 20 a month for a heated seat thats actually installed lol

6:22 The only reason I'd go for semi-automatic gearbox is because my partner can't drive a manual, that's it.
I SO FUCKING WANT MORM

5:02 that isn’t even the Mercedes radio that came with the car as an option 😂 that’s some Sony stereo from a dealer
My RSX has manumatic.

Semi automatic gearboxes...wonder what happened to them?

That A-Class is absolutely hideous. Sad thing is, the one they make today ain't much better.
Videos that not aged well...
5:02 headlights are aftermarket
Like no, they aren't
They really scraped the bottom of the barrel for production material that week, and doubled down by adding Clarksons pig ignorance.
Tbh, Clarkson is not wrong. Look at how options lives up today.
ha, look at cars these days.
YEARS later, and Jeremy has been proven completely right! Guy knows his stuff.
