Wire recorder!! always been fascinated with these things as a kid, never seen one or heard one. Looking forward to you restoring one very soon please. Take care, another Michael. (Great name!!)
Michael, I did some basic maintenance to one of my Webster-Chicago machines. I then started using that machine to capture wire recordings for folks. The thing about wire recordings is that they don't usually degrade in fidelity over time. If the spools are given the most basic consideration for keeping them dry and away from magnetic fields, a wire recording listened to today will sound virtually identical to how it would have sounded ten minutes after it was first recorded. Granted, the frequency response of a wire recorder is unimpressive, but they do produce robust results. Sometimes, when I'm listening to a wire recording of some family event or conversation that took place in the late-40s, it's like having ghosts in the room with me. It's actually a little eerie. I look forward to doing this machine. It is another Webster-Chicago. I have a couple of Silvertone recorders that I want to do for myself, too. Thank you so much for watching, Michael. I look forward to your comments and I hope I can keep it interesting for 2018. Take care. Michael
Merry Christmas. Looking forward to another year of Fred and Busters antics and maybe learn a few new things while watching you work on your projects. Really looking forward to the Jukebox!!!!!!
I have promised myself that I would spend more time in 2018 on my personal projects. That juke and my Eico ST-70 amp will be the first two. I hope to get moving on the amp in the next month, or so. In the mean time, I'll keep posting vids with the Naughty Brothers and hope that their egos don't get too puffed-up by it. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement over the last few months. I look forward to your comments a great deal more than you might realize. Take care, my friend and be safe as we head into 2018. Cheers! Michael
The best to you as well. I have been re-charging as I get ready to head into 2018. I wish you the best as we turn the year over. Be safe and enjoy! Cheers! Michael
You know, Rod, that there is nothing that I'd like more than to answer that call! I hope that the rain doesn't bring you down, my friend. One day soon, I'll take myself to England, if only to experience a proper English rain! Take care and be safe as we head into 2018. Cheers from the Western Outpost! Michael
Ha-Ha-Ha! Gary, the sunny-but 26 degree thing cracks me up! I love the way the sun shines on a big snow-covered field, but not enough to look forward to it. I hope you had a great Christmas and are looking forward to a great 2018. Take care and be safe, my friend. Michael
Happy Christmas and A Happy New Year Michael, Wifey and The Kids. Thanks For All The Wonderful Videos You Have Posted This Last Year And The Entertainment It Has Brought Us. From Gary From The UK
Thank you so much, Gary. The pleasure has all been mine. I look forward to having the opportunity to do lots more in 2018. I wish you the most blessed New Year and I hope that it has been a time to be with the ones you care about. We'll see you soon, my friend. Take care. Michael
Once again Michael A Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family and Fred and Buster! Cats are amazing, funny and great !! Best Wishes !! John Bellas KC2UVN
Hi Michael. Merry Christmas to and your Family. Love the cats :) My Wife and I have a black female cat named Molly. Someone threw her into a ditch when she was a little kitten. We took her in and gave her a safe loving home. She is like one of our children we make sure she has all her shots and keep the vet visits. I am looking forward to all the upcoming videos. I wish you and yours the very best in 2018 Bobby
I love Fred and he looks SO content on your lap! That made a beautiful scene. Cats are by nature reported to be very fine problem solvers. Fred showed very good problem solving skills and he did get his mousie toy. Imagine that you are his size and have NO knowledge of the complex things humans do -- besides feed you and stroking you. Just as we don't really understand cats (buit think we do), they don't understand us very well either. Now imagine you are his SIZE and see the world from about 8 inches off the floor. That would be a VERY different perspective. We can see the top of the table from above. He sees the underside! Her can see a tantalizing corner of a something that smells very interesting. Using just that knowledge and perspective, Fred accomplished his goal. How many of us are that persistent with our own goals? Hmmm. YEA Fred! Loved the video and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and all you hold dear.
Yep, cats are excellent problem solvers. Fred is slower in the "grasping" department than Buster is, but Fred will persist until the end of days. Buster would have gotten bored long before the end and went on to find easier trouble to get into. Take care, and I look forward to hearing from you in 2018, my friend. Cheers! Michael
Ah, but you can. I really appreciate your very kind words, but if I can do this stuff, anybody can! Trust me, all that is needed is patience and some basic equipment. There are so many great RUclipsrs out there, that it's easy to get some great instruction! Thank you for watching!
I love toooo but im Scared to death of Electric. When i was a kid i opened the back of a tube set and the next thing i knew i was in the hospital. I touched something i wasnt surpose tooooo.
YIKES! Well, if you watch enough of us on RUclips, you'll start to get know these old radios and sooner or later you will get the urge to do one yourself. Happy New Year, my friend. Michael
Merry Christmas Michael :0 Thank you for your videos. They give so much pleasure here, the more so for the interesting differences between typical US equipment and that from here in the UK. My favo(u)rite Anne of Green Gables remains the trilogy with Coleen Dewhurst as Marilla. Wonderful!!
James, The only "Anne of Green Gables" that I saw prior to "Anne With an e" was the one with Ms. Dewhurst. She was phenomenal in that series and I still love the shows. I like "...With an e" a little more mostly because I like the actor who played Mathew and the young lady who played Anne seems a little more believable to me. But, the story is one of my favorites and I'll watch either one on a moment's notice! The story makes me crave an introduction Canada. Believe it or not, I have yet to visit that glorious country. I cannot let much more time pass before make that right. After I finish this note, I am going upstairs to watch another episode of "Anne" with Wifey. I am very interested in British radios, and even more, British television sets. The styling is just different enough to make them intriguing to me. I am grateful for your kind words and especially your great comments. I am glad that you watch. I wish you the very best as we dive into 2018. Take care, my friend. Michael
Merry Christmas Michael. It’s actually Boxing Day here in Australia and I’m off to the Boxing Day sales after breakfast. Fred and Muffy could be book ends if Muffy didn’t have one yellow and one blue eye. I used to notice the look on her face depended which eye you look at. Muffy loved Christmas Day and several days after with all the leftover turkey and chicken. A wire recorder would be interesting and something I haven’t seen anyone tackle in detail yet. Still looking forward to a TV although Bob Andersen has heaps of videos. Shame there are no Aussie restorers on youtube despite US, Canadian, UK, New Zealand and M. Caldeira who I forget which island he’s on.
I love the idea of Boxing Day, though I confess to only limited understanding of it. Perhaps, I'll get to know more if I can ever visit Australia. Fred is very good at appearing to be sweet and innocent, but when our backs are turned, he is the leader of the Naughty Brothers escapades. They both had a blast playing in the boxes and paper, this morning. I spoiled Wifey this year, so there were plenty of boxes to choose from! I am eager to get some recorder experience. I enjoy watching Clydesight on his channel and I'll be watching more as I dive in. I have a feeling that televisions might be a long way off for me. I don't yet have a firm grasp on the details of their workings and I do not really know how to troubleshoot them, yet. Bob is your guy. He makes them look easy, but believe me, they aren't! I would really welcome some Aussie channels on radio resto. So far, everything I know about Australia makes me want to go there. It would be really cool to see some Aussie-grown radios, too. There are only so many Zeniths and Philcos that a guy can take before wanting to see something different! I love cars from your neck o' the woods for the same reason (man, I really want a late '60s Ute, preferably made by Holden!). Thank you for watching and, as always, thank you for your excellent comments. I really look forward to them. Have a safe and happy week and I look forward to hearing from you in 2018! Take care, my friend. Michael
Thank you, Armand. I look forward to 2018 because I intend to leave more time for myself to get my personal projects done. My Eico ST-70 is still waiting for me on my bench! Take care and be safe. We'll see you in 2018! Cheers! Michael
From Navarre (Pays Basque in North of Spain), merry christmas . Best wishes to you and your family. In my language basque, no spanish or francaise ( Zorionak eta 2018 urte berri on denori.)
We have plenty of toys with catnip. My wife makes them sometimes, as she grows catnip in our garden out back. Catnip helps with Buster's difficulties, so we always have plenty on hand. Take care, my friend, and we'll see you in 2018! Cheers! Michael

I am definitely looking forward to it, Steven! Be safe. Cheers! Michael
England calling.. On a very rainy night .. Merry Christmas to you all..
You know, Rod, that there is nothing that I'd like more than to answer that call! I hope that the rain doesn't bring you down, my friend. Well its the rain that makes it the green and pleasant land it is. But it sure ain't Utah.
Fred is a hoot! Hope you folks had a Merry Christmas!
Happy Holidays to you and yours,,, and thanks for the educational and always entertaining videos!!
Merry Christmas to you and yours, Michael. It's a lovely sunny day here....even if it is 26 degrees with an inch of snow on the ground, lol.
