For me personally, I would go with Herod no question ask. I do think layton is a better go for the majority but I know my personal preference which is tobacco and Herod just hits the spot. Especially with the older formulation that I only manage to get a decant of. The performance is a beast. The newer bottle still have decent 10h and above average projection but the smell to me is just breathtaking.
I love both. Layton is more versatile and can be worn deeper into the spring. But I like Herod slightly better.
I bought samples for both and honestly, at first, I hated both, like they smelled too different from the “norm” but after wearing each for the whole day, and smelling myself and the projection, i like BOTH now, it’s crazy
I get why Layton would win. Absolutely great fragrance. It's also got an edge in being more mass-appealing and can be worn over different seasons and occasions. Weathers getting warmer and I'm still wearing it but slowed down wearing Herod a couple of months ago. TV is still my favorite Fall wear tho'.
First times I tried PDM I liked Layton best but I think Herod has become my favourite.
PDM is an excellent house and Layton is one of my all time favorite fragrances. Glad it won this 🙌
I am totally in love with Layton. I like it so much that if i were to keep only one for life, it would be Layton (honorable mentions to Naxos and Burberry Brit, which I also love) :)

I like both, I personally prefer Herod out of the 2. I actually enjoy layering both, starting with the Layton and then finishing with the Herod. Works well whilst smoking a cigar, especially at the lounge I have gotten quite a few compliments but I enjoy it which is the point.
I am interested to see which won. I voted for Herod. Love that one on a man and on myself!

This is extremely tough for me. I don’t think I’ll be voting this time. Because they each do their own unique thing. 😕 and I love both fragrances.

I choose Layton for overall. For the scent profile I love Herod more than but poor longevity and less projection in currently batch are trash.
Herod is the GOAT here - spare bottle worthy imho
Both Layton and Herod are amazing though. I use Layton as my more casual and Herod as my date or more formal.
Herod because the chicks at my job love it. Excellent in the winter and fall and even spring time.
Herod for me, then Oajan, then Carlisle, then finally Layton.
Layton is an amazing scent, and well know by many. I feel like if people have not got their nose on a fragrance in the battle they have to vote for the one they have smelled. Maybe that is why Naxos and Ani did not move on.

I personally prefer Herod but get way more attention when I wear Layton .
Herod is probably top 5 all time for me. Layton is definitely more main stream and mass appealing so I get what you are saying.

I don't know how often you take requests from the comments, however I think it would be interesting if you got the generic colones you can find at Dollar stores like Dollar general that are "compared to" really high dollar colognes such as the "richness" colognes which is supposed to be a One million clone. Also keep up the amazing videos Man!

Herod might be one of my favourite fragrances of all time. It smells so... sophisticated. I feel like its a little under appreciated! But thats just my personal take.

I think PDM Carlisle is the BEST for Fall/Winter
I'm over 1350 scents in my collection and Layton would likely be my #1 (or top 5 for sure) if I could only choose one, so it's the winner.

Thats a hard decision to make but browsing through I'd say...Parfums de Marly Layton, Acqua di Parma Note di Colonia II, Moresque White Duke, Louis Vuitton L'Immensite, MFK Amyris Homme (EdT or Extrait). Few more that may be a tossup for top 5/top 10 to me are: Jovoy Incident Diplomatique, Kilian Straight to Heaven, Boadicea Hyde Park, Xerjoff Golden Green (or Golden Dallah), Fort & Manle Amber Absolutely, Royal Crown Tzar, Issey Miyake Noir Ambre.

I love both. But if I have to choose between the two, probably Layton. Layton is more versatile, on the other hand, Herod is bolder and an attention catcher.

Layton is more than just a spiced apple pie. A lot of people overlook how well the aromatic nuances balance the sweetness. It does an amazing job modernizing the dry, green, masculine aromatic fougeres of yesteryears like PRpH, CK Eternity, Chanel Platinum Egoiste. 4/5
Layton is just an overpriced version of Ultra Male imo

Surprised Herod beat Naxos. But for me Layton is MUCH better than Herod. I might have to get Layton at some point in the future.
For me layton since it’s more versatile besides I live in the caribbean which is hot the whole year.

Layton is a little sweeter with the Apple, Herod is nice but on me is a tad harsh. Both are nice but I do wear Layton more often.
Please talk about HEROD REFORMULATION and performance issues due to that!! :D
That's hard...but I'd say Layton. Literally just got a bottle today, been wearing alexandrias version forever happy to finally have the OG.

Black Phantom is head and shoulders above Tobacco Vanille. TF fragrances are far more accessible than any scent by Kilians. I’m really glad that’s the case.

These two are a little too different from each other to claim superiority. I think they're both beyond excellent and it depends on one's taste for notes to prefer one or the other. Personally, I much prefer Layton because it's my lucky scent that has brought me some magical luck while wearing it.

at -20°C , i love herod , but overall it Layton for me.
Apples and oranges comparison, or... uh, apples and tobacco leather lol. I think it just depends more on occasion. For me Layton can't go wrong and Herod runs a risk of being a bit controversial
I wear Layton no one says anything its more generic in my opinion. Herod on the other hand even though not as versatile but in cooler weather people love it and always ask what it is.
Herod is my favorite out of the 2..I wore it out to the bar on new years tho and some girl said I smelt like "axe body spray"..and honestly that's the most offended I've been in a long time. 😅. Idk..it's been over 20 years since I've sprayed an axe .. they up their game???

The problem with this "competition" most have never had the pleasure of trying Naxos. Also, my Layton bottle is over 1/2 full, I'm just starting my 2nd bottle of Herod. Not even close.

From the description, I am sure that I would like Layton, but it smells like glycerine. Same with Carlisle and Percival. I lost my sense of smell in 2021 with CV19 and only part of it came back. I can smell herod, haltane, Oajan. I guess I'll never know if I smell the entire fragrance, but those smell very nice to me

Herod for me. Both are great but I’m a huge fan of tobacco fragrances so it gets the slight edge imo.

I’m probably going to get a lot of stick here but I think Herod is just ok & nothing special . For me Carlisle has a way better dry down & is more complex . I own Layton & Layton exclusive & Pegasus & they all pull way more compliments than Herod for me .
Herod by far. But I feel the younger crowd would favor Layton.
