My 9 year old son let's you know, that you are the best bush crafter ever, he enjoyed this video very much and now want's to go in the woods with dad. Greetings from Germany!
@@wituikbws Actually bush crafting over here is much more restricted then in Canada. As every piece of wood is owned by someone, you can go in, but you are not allowed to use tents or use open fire. We both - father and son - love carving and be outside, being allowed to have camp fire would be awesome. Sure, we could still simple do it, but on the other hand I have to be a good dad and show my son, how to do it right. I think, when he is a bit older, we will go to Sweden or even come to Canada. One question to you as an Canadian: Aren't you bothered by bears over there? I mean, we have wolves here and my wife is panicking every times, I go to the woods, she would die of freight, knowing that there could be a grizzly around.
@GuyHeadbanger That's to bad about not having a place to go , maybe ask around who owns land and ask permission to camp out if possible , our land here in Canada is also getting scarse ... and getting burnt or torn down for subdivision s or ya have to pay a fortune to camp in a park of some sort 😢 .. all the best 👍
@@OutdoorswThatGuy Camping is not a problem over here, as long as you do not use a tent. German law guaranties to use the woods for recreational purposes for everyone, no matter who is the owner. But you are not allowed to use open fire like bonfires of hobos, not even gas, if you are not the owner, work for the owner or keep bees in the area. I mean, I perfectly am alright with this regulations when in comes to pine woods in our area, but in oak and beech woods? Well, there are a few places, where you could officially stay in the woods and have a fire going, but you have to pay for that a little fee. Or you use camping grounds, of cause. But in national parks you are not even allowed to leave the official paths, not speaking of staying overnight, as you would disturb the animals. Too much people on to less ground over here, 233 inhabitants on one km² vs. 3,9 in Canada. If you seek real wilderness you will not find it in Germany.
Nice tarp setup. There’s something nice about a candle lantern or a kettle hanging over a fire. Very relaxing and great skills with the saw. Thank you! 👍

Hey there Nicholas. Very good video, that was a great set up for your shelter. Seems like you are always well prepared! Thanks much for sharing your video.
Really awesome night out. Everything looked great for a nice comfortable setup. I used to have one of those candle lanterns and liked it a lot... need to look for a new one. Very practical. Dinner over the fire always tastes better, and the potato/onion mix looked good with the grouse. Cowboy coffee in the morning hits the spot and gets the day going. Glad you had the chance to get out and enjoy an evening. Peace from Arizona. Pete
Those candle lanterns are great, but I find the cost of the candles a bit much and since I can't make them myself, I likely will be switching over to my kerosene lanterns after I run out. Speaking of coffee, I should go make some, haha! Thanks for watching, new video coming out on Friday (hopefully)!

I find that just about all meat tastes like beef, even pigeon and bear, so I'm probably not the best to ask! 😆 If I had to choose, it's maybe closer to turkey than anything, but I haven't tried any other grouse than ruffed. I know spruce grouse have a very different flavour. Thanks for watching!

Hey! I'm glad you found the print easier to read. I upped the size quite a bit from the older videos. I wonder the same things, and I appreciate the people that have an idea what it takes to produce these videos. Being out there is challenging enough, then lugging around a camera while filming a video with a loose "script" to follow is even harder, haha! I love bankline! Much better than paracord. More videos coming soon, and thanks for watching!
Looked like a fun time Nicholas!! I haven't had Grouse in a long time. Used to shoot a couple for camp meat where we Elk hunted. I like the tarp set-up. You like that over the plow point configuration? I think the plow point is my favorite tarp set. I want to try yours next time out. I replayed the video a few times, I think I see how you did it. You should bring the lady with the cool hat along sometime. Take it easy Cowboy. Roger
It sure was! I've never had the chance to try out a plow point setup due to all my tarps being rectangle shaped, but I imagine I'd love it. I'll have to see what I can do about getting a different tarp for a video! Marie is stuck down in America at the moment, so unfortunately she won't be able to come up here right away - but soon! We have some plans to rebuild my old "long-termp camp" as well as some other fun videos. Thanks, and you take it easy too!
Hey man! I love your videos so much! I would love to start camping but I am a complete newby, what advice would you give on how to start doing it? Also, where did you learn all those cool skills you have? :)
I'd recommend watching and reading as much information as you can, then practicing until you get confident and safe with your skills. My go-to is Far North Bushcraft and Survival and Coalcracker Bushcraft to learn 👍
What tarp are you using here? I like how it has loops instead of grommet holes. I was looking at that gum blanket you used in another episode too. I want one but can't find one anywhere!
This is an Aquaquest 10x7 silnylon tarp, however I don't recommend it. It has it's benefits being super light and packable, but I swear, every time I set this thing up it gets a new hole in it. I'm moving onto oilcloth canvas as a replacement
I use to make lots of range shooting videos on my channel, but at the time, RUclips was going through a phase of demonetizing just about anyone that used a gun, so I had to remove them to keep my channel in good standing. RUclips has since fixed their stupid policies and I could start posting them again, but ammo is hard to come by out here and the price was already outrageous pre-shortage for .45-70 Government. I don't even want to know how much it costs per round now, haha! Thanks for watching!
They’re Baffin Hunter boots, made of rubber, and are very comfortable for long walks (in my opinion), but the quality and durability of these boots is absolutely awful. I’ve had them for about 3 weeks at the point of filming this video, and they got a large hole in them by the end of this trip. Right now they are cracking and splitting apart on the stress points, and are pretty much ruined. Avoid these boots if you can 👎
Hi. I saw that there were fires in your area. How were you doing during this time? Was the fire a threat to you and your loved ones? Regards. A good movie and you showed something new as usual.
Hey! There were lots of fires this year, many of them very close to where I live, but none of them were concerning to us. We've been around many wildfires, and I grey up with them every summer down in southern British Columbia. Unless the fire is moving right towards us at an alarming rate, we tend to just let it be since there is nothing we can do about it anyways. Thanks for watching! New videos coming soon!

Thank you! My rifle's chambered in .45-70 Government, and I usually have HSM bear loads in it for the grizzly and moose. Marie will be back sometimes soon, she's stuck down in America at the moment. Thanks for watching!
Espero impaciente tu siguiente video. Saludos.
I purposely don’t film breakfast aside from making coffee or tea as it takes a ton of time and is too close in the video to when I cooked dinner the night before. It ends up making the video feel too repetitive and boring, but I’ll make some eggs and bacon in one soon though, likely in one of my short-term camps! 👍

Espero impaciente tu siguiente video.
Saludos.
What is the most threatening animal in the mountains?
Cow and bull moose and grizzly bear👍
@@wituikbws The guy in that hand must be a trustworthy partner. Your video is very exciting, I will always follow it, good luck to you!
Hello

A camping video without eggs and bacon for breakfast is not a camping video.
Yeeeeeeww
🤠🤠
How bout showing us something useful like how to keep your socks up in rubber boots ?
Tight socks, that’s my solution 😆
