Hey Nicholas, nice to see you out camping and taking in the wilderness. Nice you had your pup out with you. He did a nice job alerting you of danger. Thanks much for the awesome video!
Very enjoyable video Nicholas. Nice simple and efficient shelter shaped much like one I learned from Mors Kochanski at a 2 day survival course in 1987. Your dog is awesome and shows her Bordie Collie and LDG instincts well. Smart enough to not run off and check out the coyotes.
Awesome video , absolutely awesome. I've had more encounters with Moose in the woods than Coyote , but I've laid back in the tent at night and heard them howling so I know they have been around. Actually once while out cooking our evening meal the woods beside us lit up with howls and the second I shone a light they stopped. The companionship of a great dog is awesome , I've set up trail cams and got bear and coyote show up after I've left no doubt attracted by the smell of food. Your shelter was great. Great collection of shavings made sure your fire had lots of fuel to get going, you obviously know your stuff. Your video showed up as a videos I might like , they were right 1 minute in I am a new subscriber.
I love the self made spin on the noodles !! Just have to have a little imagination 😂. Naomi looks content to be out with dad in the woods again 😊. Nice pitch amigo !!.
Great video, easy to build shelter, and sensible meals (love chorizo!) for a real nice overnighter. Dogs are great companions and your breed is beautiful. Enjoy the forest this summer (I'll do the same here in Arizona's Coconino National Forest). Cheers! Pete in Arizona - KI7LIL
What astonishes me in these videos is that everybody puts their kindling on the ground as opposed to making a layer or several of split wood as a floor to make Your fire on top of that. We call it lightandforget fire. That way You have some leeway to do other chores which are a plenty when sleeping outdoors. Generally, it is called lighting on top method as opposed to lighting underneath method. But I like Your videos all the same😊 All the best, from here Finland
loved the setup, the only thing I woulda done differently is have laid out some grass or spruce boughs under my sleeping pad, but I'm sure you were comfortable enough without it.
Sure is beautiful country 😍. R u a long drive to a real town ? Or does it just appear that you r waaay out. I wish I could I could visit. R there established trails into the back country ,? Lloop routes maybe ??? I love to backpack 5ish days unless my route i includes a place where I can resupply. Or stash A re supply box in advance ! ( Or mail it general delivery to my self. So good to c u out n about Nick. Hope your having a good year thus far. Peace my northern amigo and keep on rocking the free world 🌎 🤠👍🏽
Wow it has been a while . Good to see you in the woods again. Why so long? Your vids are a pleasure to watch. I miss your adventures. I am old and its good to see young people with guts and courage to venture into the woods. You carry slugs or buck shot for that scatter gun. Looks like its a single shot, hope its a double. Where is the lever gun. Did your leader take it away from you. Shameful politicians on both sides of the border. Good to see you out and about Great looking dog looks like he can take care of himself. Be safe take care of yourself and family.
Just out of curiosity, why don’t you strike your ferro rod with the spine of your knife or a designated striker? I’m a match and/or lighter guy so, although I own a ferro rod I have rarely used it.
I thought the same thing initially but expect that the spine may not be sharp enough. Can always resharpen the blade although the part of the blade used looked to be very close to the handle and not used much.
This is exactly why. This knife is an abosloute POS I bought for 35$, it actually hold up great for everything aside from striking ferro-rods. I can't for the life of me get it to stay sharp, I'm pretty sure the steel is just too soft which is kind of pathetic, but then again it was 35$ 🤣
@@wituikbws Thanks for the reply. I have some $15 Mora knives with rounded spines I don’t ever think would strike a spark but they’re great knives. I think I’ll just stick with my matches and lighter. I’ll always have the ferro rod in my pack for back up. Matches are just how my father started teaching me to make fire 55 years ago.
I think I'm cursed because a lot of my favorite backpackers either they just quit sending out information videos whatever and some of them don't you know it's it's months in between videos and that's the case here with Nicholas long time in between videos and dude I don't know what you got going on in your life but it must be hectic and I just hope you can get into more of a little bit more of a consistent routine on giving us some fun I don't know if you plan on like trying to actually make some money from RUclips or I don't know what your goal is. But as a fan of your channel that should be nice to hear from you I know at least every 2 weeks or something you know anyway let us know what's going on. Is this not your priority in life. Well you know what I mean right. Is it a big construction job where you travel for miles or what is it that keeps you away from us. I just not really into the whole RUclips thing ???? Be a good amigo and talk to us don't be quite as quiet as you are on your videos😅
I hope I'll be able to get myself into more of a routine with the filming and posting, but its always been hard for me to be consistent with it. I'm often doing other work or occasionally going out without my camera. My goal is one video a month but even that is hard to keep up with lately as you can tell
@@R.h31-sr4hj Yes I know, most all great pyrenees are white... But there are also a small amount of full blooded great pyrenees that show the RARE trait of some black in their white as well. On a side note: My mixed half great pyrenees and half doberman, is a light tannish golden color with white legs and chest.
Enjoy the new video 🤠
I did.. thank you
Thank you! I have a question. What dimensions is your tarp? Is it 3×3 m?
Good camp. Well done and thank you.
Great camp out Nicholas. Always good to have a dog with you to look out for what you can't see, hear or smell.
Nate
Nicholas nice camp, hope you got a deer or moose this year. I always love the sound of coyotes but I also know they aren't a joke.
Love the pack!!! You’ve got great taste in traditional gear. Beautiful country and great video!!!
It's so romantic to camp in the forest like this🎉❤

Awesome video! Good to see the earth tones. I hate it when people go into the woods wearing bright ass colors!
I hate it too, seems so weird to me

I've seen that method but never actually considered trying it. Next video I have a fire in, I'll give it a try! Thanks for the feedback 😁

Do you slways use cutting edge to strike a ferro rod rather than the spine
On this knife, yes. The spine is too soft to strike a ferro rod, it's a terribly cheap knife 🤣
Muito bom!!!!! Qual o calibre da sua espingarda?

A lot of credit to Sony I guess! My camera is old and unimpressive compared to what's out today 😆
