- A while ago, I made a video where I had the best possible luck in a speedrun to replicate Minecraft speedrunner Dream's "luck" in his cheated Minecraft speedruns. This time, it's the opposite - I have the worst possible luck. Can I still finish the game in a decent time?

Just as one example, Vaughan XV has a video with 48 views of getting the hallway on a murder run, albeit without the door, and then being confused when after rebooting the game, the hallway was gone, because the game sets your FUN to zero when you leave the hallway.

I would argue that it is an entirely numerable amount lower, and that though that number is incomprehensible, it would be fairly easy to calculate.
More time means a lot more RNG calls you have to fail.

Ik this is like super late but the reason is cuz this mod changed step counts while the best rng one didn’t. Step counts have so much variance that it was most of the odds.
I can't believe nothing changed between this mod and the luck of your normal runs.

As of April 1st, 2023, the speedrun leaderboard mods for Undertale have determined that Shayy, MrLink2k, and fixylol are Too Goated at the game and have an unfair advantage. As such, the mods have summoned every leprechaun in Ireland to curse these three people with the worst possible luck in Undertale. We hope that the greater Undertale speedrun community understands and accepts this decision.

If it had to be maximum unlucky, wouldn’t you also have to encounter one of the “fun” encounters? Either the extended gaster corridor, or the pizza order or the fridge prank thingy?
Fun isnt based on rng, there are multiple factors that influence it, kills, gold, health, encounters, love, xp, etc.

Once you start a Genocide Route, the fun value gets set to 0 so you can't get any "fun" events

But he always appears with others. (Although he does make attacks 1 second longer)
@@cendronhawk977 I took the original comment to mean that he is the only enemy (or enemy type, gosh, imagine fighting three Jerries at once) who appears in a non-boss encounter, so I'd say we're both right depending on the interpretation.
Wow. That number was 155 digits long. Yes, I counted. Carefully. I was expecting a 20-to-30-digit number which would have been insanely high already. The actual number was more than 5 times the upper bound of what I expected. That many digits is insane.

I find it funny that the coloured health bars do the same thing that Minecraft used to do with its durability bars, that is, go from green to red through a sickly brown instead of yellow, due to the RGB colourspace. Kinda nostalgic for it tbh

Commenting before I watch: This is an intriguing premise, although it leaves me a bit conflicted; I love "Worst luck possible" runs because they often radically change the run, but for UT, I have a hard time imagining how this makes UT any more challenging, as opposed to just making encounters take longer, & splitting up enemies, which I doubt makes them harder. So I'm wondering if the worst possible RNG would have any notable increase to difficulty besides, I dunno, maybe worse attack damage?
Anyway, okay run video! Thanks for uploading! Also, were the odds really that high for JUST the really bad encounter luck??
Well it was at least way higher than the best luck because there were more encounters, more step count checks, and more attack rolls to get the worst possible chances on... all together, I think it makes sense.
The purpose of this run isn't to be challenging; it's to theorize what the slowest possible genocide speedrun would look like. The interesting thing that this is showing is how much difference in time there is between the best possible luck and the worst; the Dream Luck run got a time of around 1:01, whereas this Reverse Dream Luck run got a 1:12. It puts into perspective just how much luck is required for a genocide speedrun, as even getting from a 1:12 to a 1:03 requires a very large portion of luck.

I realized that with the Royal Guards, Muffet, Neo, and nearly 40 other enemies in Hotland, plus Asgore not expecting you, Alphys did a pretty bad job warning the king and evacuating everyone.
I think I read somewhere someone brought up the point that Flowey might have intercepted whatever call or message she might have tried to reach him, and she didn't know. The Royal Guards were there as a back up plan in case Undyne died, and if you go through the entire Muffet fight, Muffet says that Alphys tried to get her to leave with her, and when Muffet refused, Alphys promised to leave an escape route for her, and once she got down to the lab or wherever Alphys was hiding everyone, then she'd close off all the elevators. And Muffet regrets not having just eaten her
Mettaton was there because he wanted to protect Alphys and humanity, but there's no canonical reason for the Core enemies to still be there as far as I'm aware 🤷🏽 I always kinda figured that since they're mercenaries that Mettaton hired to kill you in neutral runs, the fact that they were mercenaries meant that they wanted to stay to try to stop you?? Or maybe Mettaton hired them again to do that??
The very few Hotland monsters that you encounter though besides the guards and Muffet I figured were probably stragglers who accidentally got left behind to find their own way to the lab, but you got to them before they could make it or something

in the wheatley levels, there is a part with the turret cubes and a button, a very rare glitch happened where a turret cube got on the button and softlocked them (i think this is what happened i havent heard of it in a while)

I ran into the room with the pizza and the TVs and I ate all the pizza. the manager got mad at me so I left the building. But then, I walked back in. Then you were working there. I told you how much of a fan I was and you taught me how to play IRL undertale which was wierd as hell and really scuffed. I have wierd ass dreams sometimes.

My guess was the odds of this run happening being around 1 in a Googol (1 and 100 zeroes). I counted 154 digits after the first one, so not a bad guess (considering a precise guess within the margin of any day-to-day used number is of course unreasonable with numbers this big).

Imagine getting this bad of luck on accident and then you complain about how bad your luck is. Then your friend just says “Sounds like a skill issue”. Though you’d have quite a bit better chance getting struck by lightning 36 times, which is about 10,000 times more likely.
