Little advice: dont use the highest attack dmg general for your army, use the default one that cna get the makeshift bridges trait, to reduce river crossing penalty by 90% via command power. Its way more dmg than if you have a attack 5 general, even tho it costs command power. but 7 days are way enough to cross a river, route the enemy and encircle them.
A thing I've always wondered: how come Greece doesn't have a core on Cyprus? Bulgaria has a core on Northern Macedonia on top of a core of an independent Northern Macedonia. The same should happen in Cyprus.
You get a core on it through the Themata decisions (from which you need more teritorry to take the decision, Triumph over Levant i think) or if you purchase it through the Non-Aligned branch of the focus tree "Achieving Enosis".

Allowing options for acquiring cores on once historic greek lands before Ottoman and Turkish conquest makes a lot of historic sense from a nationalist perspective.

I'm doing that one now (on Beta). I was in a good position at the start of Barbarossa but some things went weird (historical on). Japan lost to China, Italy took the Suez Canal and no Allied invasions have lasted. I was intending to invade Russia and then take enough industry and population to use in a back stab on the Axis, then use that to get the Allies. With the failure of the Allies, I am having to attack a very powerful Axis. I have started my attack (in 1945, to get access to decent tanks and aircraft) and have regained German held Russia and the Suez Canal. I'm just holding in the Balkans and am about to do a big push into Germany. I think my strategy was fine but the poor performance of the Allies has left the work to me. Edit. Expand the Saadabad Pact fails unless you have already created a faction. Do it before the focus completes and all 3 will join (I boosted opinion but not sure if it was needed).
In my playthrough I liberated Moldova in the Romania peace deal and I gave it Bucovina and the Soviets didn't even justify on them, more than that I took southern Bessarabia for myself and they didn't get a claim on it.

Sabaton, a swedish rock/metalband made a song about this, named cliffs of Gallipoli. The event was actually almost a breaking point for the british public war support (ww1)!

I did this a few days back. Declaring Byzantium was almost the last thing I did, which gave me manpower problems throughout. I was keen to see a cleaner run. Edit: I did it on WTT (since the Wiki said it didn't work on BotB). It worked but the process was very different (no guide was effective due to changes in the base game).
I think this might not work as well as it used to with NSB, mostly because the AI is a fair bit smarter and Romania will stack troops on all their coastal tiles, making naval landings impossible. Maybe if you rush Bulgaria before Turkey and puppet them (but don't call them into the war) that'll make them park more troops on their southern border instead. You also want to build a lv1 port in Alexandroupolis for supply's sake (much cheaper than rail/hub).
Fun tip: Right after the election at the start of the game happens, you can crush the monarchists while you are doing your economy focuses and gain some war support and stability for later on. You befriend them anyway after you do compromise with the monarchists focus and get all the bonuses and minsters from that.

Draculas Revenge is easy if u go the "Splitting Yugoslavia path", get guaranteed by France and GB, declare on Romania and only call in your Transilvania puppet, giving them the territories :)
Czechmate is actually rather easy too, if you just want the achievement. You only need to control Munich, not own, so basically stick to democracy for the juicy defensive bonuses, get the forts up, defend your borders and make a paratrooper division, land on Munich, bam achievement done :)
That Greek Fascist leader looks like Waluigi. Fitting that Waluigi has the Greek letter Γ on his hat and that the color of Byzantium in this is purple.
Finally got the achievement after I don´t know how many attempts, went a slightly different route by taking out Bulgaria first then puppeting them before going for Turkey-Romania-Hungry. Joined the Axis after Russia declared on me, didn´t join in the war with the Allies, after Russia fell I puppeted them in the peace deal then left the Axis and declared on Italy then joined the Allies. Managed a 12% war score to get Italy in the peace deal.
For my divisions against turkey I make 6 or 7 fourteen fours for attacking. Then I remove reconnaissance from the horse division and use those to hold the islands and frontline.
Note that you can befriend the communists later once you turn fascist. This allows you to get the Army Regrouping guy and a political advisor with recruitable population increase and garrison buff.

right, so just to be clear. the whole defaulting your debt thing costs the same amount of pp as getting rid of your debt the normal way, the only difference is you dont get a temp national spirit for 30 days called small or large debt payments. but then again i dont think it would matter in the long run because it would mean losing the 15% consumer goods factories debuff really early
Hahaha! Never surrender! I was at war with Turkey. They were at 56 percent capitulation. Romania with Turkey of course... But then I see, "Yugoslavia is now your enemy". I pause the game, yell out "f*ck this shit". I swore never to give up. I took over half of my divisions to the Yugo border and started to fight for my fkn life! I started to fall. Enemy troops were already at Ioannina. Then suddenly by the grace of Zeus, Aries, and all the gods above, Turkey capitulated as well as Yugoslavia. As the icing on the cake, Bucharest signed a peace deal. Remember my fellow greeks.. Never surrender, for the motherland!
in my run , i did exactly the same things, just romania brings about 10 units to help turkey, italy declares war on me (nov 1938) and bulgaria is looking for a piece of this cake as well..Time to return to the menu
Do a me and let turkey invade Greece. Naval invade back onto Athens from Crete and spend 70% of the time fighting them in the hills and mountains while they struggle to push in Thrace for some reason, run out of equipment and then you steamroll them with 10 divisions. Yeah it was bad, but it was MP, so it was fun.
Trying this with current DLC, doesn't go favorably..... No supply hub up north so need to build 1 with rail network of lvl 2 to capital, or a dock in the region, to make an attack their viable. Then, Turkey either goes for Baltic security calling in Yugo, or Romania forms it's pact and calls them in.... Need a new strat with the current game state to make it viable now :/
No Step Back has REALLY buggered this. The Greeks have never heard of the train it seems so supply is atrocious. Supply is so bad at the Turkish border that they will push you back because they have a port to supply from.
I am about to say with No Step Back this is impossible. You just can't break the Turkish line to even do the cheesy way of defeating them. Not even with 27 width 9-3 infantry and sitting on a port. EDIT: Unless there is some trick you can do this is now impossible w/ No Step Back. You just can't break the Turkish line and you don't have enough industry / manpower to out muscle Turkey. Even with 27w Inf and SFP you will get CLOSE to breaking the line but then it starts reinforcing from the adjacent tiles and you de-org. I've even tried CAS to break it and it just wont. Even if you get the Trickster general to get makeshift bridges you can't do it. The Turks just have better supply in that region and your offense grinds down to a halt. The Turks also refuse to attack my lines so I can't even wear them down that way.

Had an amazing run and bam Soviet invasion through Anatolia. Troops were in Italy fighting and in Yugoslavia holding the Germans back. Soviets puppeted me :( Was fun though
I love your videos, they are helping me a lot, not only with achievements but also to learn interesting strategies xD but I have a couple of questions: 1) 12:41 Why are you choosing "Restoring Our Home" right now over "The Birthplace of Democracy"? It is an approach that you can only get when you are democratic and it gives you 10% stability and 5% democracy (I see this 5% as that you can use Anti-Democratic Raids more times, so more stability) this focus if you become fascist it will not You can obtain and in theory even if you become a fascist, you don't lose the stability bonus, right? 2) The Soviet Union claims Turkish territories from me, so I can't get away by making puppets of Romania, what can I do? Do I reboot and try my luck again or do I build bunkers in Turkey and continue with your guide? I do not know if you have commented on this possibility, English is not my mother tongue and some things escape me, hehe
Hmm, you can hold the Russians in the Causacus, with some effort. And if you release Romania before they declare, you'll have a nice buffer state up there. It sucks, but you can grind them in the mountains while you wait for Barabarossa or they run out of equipment

I find attacking Bulgaria and make them a puppet easier. I do this before going to war with Turkey. When Turkey is out of the fight I can focus dealing with Romania. I find it annoying how the Soviets, Hungarians, and Bulgarians will take Romanian territory with key events. Especially, when you have control of the land.
On what resolution do you play ? Your game and UI looks so better than mine, or is it a mod ? You can see the whole industry tab i have to scroll around.
Could someone help me with turkey. I dont think this guide works anymore, because i cannot get window to attack istanbul, because turkey keeps pushing my lines. They lose a lot of their army but so do i. And I also have a lot supply problems so my troops in turkish border are always low on suplies. This guide was made before this new supply patch. God I only want to get good at this game and conquer turkey as greece

@@Bitt3rSteel Spain did flip Gamer in my run, but they join the Axis before I'm able to finish the war. I guess -200 desire to join a faction doesn't mean as much as I assumed it did. I might try again to see if I can get it done more quickly, but I might end up having to do it the crappy way and race the Allies to Berlin.
@@Bitt3rSteel They still had the -200 even after they had joined! It doesn't go away until 1944, and this all happened in 1940. This game works in mysterious ways. For all I know, they join at a certain percentage to capitulation and expediting the war will just make them do it sooner. Although I've eaten Spain before as other Gamer nations and I don't remember this happening. I'll give it another try but if they keep joining I'll just do it without fighting Spain or the UK like you did here. Vichy France seems like a solid route; you'd get a nice beachhead established before Germany could react. EDIT: GOT IT. Got through Spain quickly enough to keep them out of the Axis, and got the UK done about 3 weeks before my NAP with Italy runs out. The Axis got a lot in the peace conference and the borders are horrifying but I puppeted the UK so I can drag the Brits in if I need help from their massive navy. Regardless, now I can take my time with the Axis and I'll just fight the Soviets wherever we end up meeting in Germany.
It really isn't, you can just rush Britain down asap and kill them easily. France starts with tons of divisions and Britain won't put their fleet in the north sea. Just invade Hull and its done.
@@failuretv814 Just go Fascist and join Axis, start building ships/submarines early, France actually starts with decent navy, even if its not as big as the UK's. Prep your 7x2 divisions(you may later have 14x4s also) and steamroll the UK.Try to keep stability as high as possible, personally never had civil wars when going with Fascist France/Nationaliste Francais(don't confuse with Vichy France, German Reich's puppet). And achievement is yours.
Don't use the decisions to flip to fascist. Focus order: Revive the National Bloc, Banned Communism (removes Political Violence spirit), Utilize the Leagues. After rush to Freedom Front (after Utilize the Leagues this changes from giving Dem popularity to Fascist Popularity). This should then be enough to unlock National Regeneration. Congrats now you've flipped to Fascist without triggering a civil war.
I used this video to try for the Byzantophile achievement, it all went remarkably well! Though there has been a bit of a snag moving forward... I forgot to justify on Hungary preemptively and sat around for 80 days. Now I can't get into a defencive war with Italy because they never justified on me. Can't even go for a quick justification via core territory because they managed to lose Albania. Not sure what I'm going to do now.
Nobody cares, too small to actually play a proper run and generic focuses suck ass. Hardly Cyprus will get anything whatsover. So yeah, kind of hit and miss, mate
well for me was a defense war against soviets, i join axis, win the war with 40%, then i leave axis to go war against italy, join allies who kicked me several times xD but i win with 60% war score. maybe you play greece again for "this is madness" and the other achievement who require win civil war before 1937.
I am having serious problems with getting some of the manchukuo achievements, mainly taking out Japan. Just an idea, how would you take out Japan as Manchu. You probably have done a video on this, but if not, I would love for you to do a Manchu achievement video

The strat for Turkey doesn't work anymore, the supply is awful on the border so it is almost impossible to push through the Turkish line, build a port or fall back to Thessaloniki and do it there, I wasted so much time trying to do it around Edirne that Romania joined the Axis and dragged Germany and Italy in
couldn't get the achievement because when I naval invaded italy, they sent probably more than a 100 divisions there, encircled my armies and made it impossible to push
Whenever I try attacking turkey my divisions just retreat back to my side of the river. Is there a certain order your supposed to give them to not retreat?

Also, that 10% movement speed that you can get is a huge bonus. So much easier to overrun enemies, or maneuver around and surround enemy units.

If the game were more historically accurate, Greece should have claims and cores on the Dodecanese, Cyprus, and Western Anatolia

I think the Hellas/Byzantine path of Greece is my personal favorite out of any Hoi4 paths atm.

I recommend using "crush the fascist" before negotiation with them. Its free stability and war support, and they become friendly anyway later on.
Also, it allows you to befriend communist later on for this juicy 15% facttort.

They typically dont put too many troops on the south of edirne though so pushing them out and encircling them again is quite easy

after you take dobruja you could built an airport there, giving you air superiority and a little bit extra cas damage to push

You need the PP early on to ramp up your country for the early wars. Later on,you can afford the big costs.

I pause the game, yell out "f*ck this shit". I swore never to give up. I took over half of my divisions to the Yugo border and started to fight for my fkn life!
I started to fall. Enemy troops were already at Ioannina. Then suddenly by the grace of Zeus, Aries, and all the gods above, Turkey capitulated as well as Yugoslavia. As the icing on the cake, Bucharest signed a peace deal. Remember my fellow greeks.. Never surrender, for the motherland!
First time I tried Romania joined axis super early, on historical.... second time turkey naval invaded, I hate my luck
Keep the Turkish navy at bay with strike force, you should have the naval supremacy to prevent landings
in my run , i did exactly the same things, just romania brings about 10 units to help turkey, italy declares war on me (nov 1938) and bulgaria is looking for a piece of this cake as well..Time to return to the menu

Do a me and let turkey invade Greece. Naval invade back onto Athens from Crete and spend 70% of the time fighting them in the hills and mountains while they struggle to push in Thrace for some reason, run out of equipment and then you steamroll them with 10 divisions.
Yeah it was bad, but it was MP, so it was fun.

Trying this with current DLC, doesn't go favorably.....
No supply hub up north so need to build 1 with rail network of lvl 2 to capital, or a dock in the region, to make an attack their viable.
Then, Turkey either goes for Baltic security calling in Yugo, or Romania forms it's pact and calls them in....
Need a new strat with the current game state to make it viable now :/

In my first attempt at restoring the Byzantine Empire, Venizelos died on the 3rd of January 1936... I was quite surprised to say the least...

No Step Back has REALLY buggered this. The Greeks have never heard of the train it seems so supply is atrocious. Supply is so bad at the Turkish border that they will push you back because they have a port to supply from.
I am about to say with No Step Back this is impossible. You just can't break the Turkish line to even do the cheesy way of defeating them. Not even with 27 width 9-3 infantry and sitting on a port.
EDIT: Unless there is some trick you can do this is now impossible w/ No Step Back. You just can't break the Turkish line and you don't have enough industry / manpower to out muscle Turkey. Even with 27w Inf and SFP you will get CLOSE to breaking the line but then it starts reinforcing from the adjacent tiles and you de-org. I've even tried CAS to break it and it just wont. Even if you get the Trickster general to get makeshift bridges you can't do it. The Turks just have better supply in that region and your offense grinds down to a halt. The Turks also refuse to attack my lines so I can't even wear them down that way.
@@timothyhouse1622 build 1 civ, build a port near the frontline. research train somewhere before the war and use the decision that gives you 15 trains, it worked for me

Had an amazing run and bam Soviet invasion through Anatolia. Troops were in Italy fighting and in Yugoslavia holding the Germans back. Soviets puppeted me :( Was fun though

but I have a couple of questions:
1) 12:41 Why are you choosing "Restoring Our Home" right now over "The Birthplace of Democracy"? It is an approach that you can only get when you are democratic and it gives you 10% stability and 5% democracy (I see this 5% as that you can use Anti-Democratic Raids more times, so more stability) this focus if you become fascist it will not You can obtain and in theory even if you become a fascist, you don't lose the stability bonus, right?
2) The Soviet Union claims Turkish territories from me, so I can't get away by making puppets of Romania, what can I do? Do I reboot and try my luck again or do I build bunkers in Turkey and continue with your guide?

Hmm, you can hold the Russians in the Causacus, with some effort. And if you release Romania before they declare, you'll have a nice buffer state up there. It sucks, but you can grind them in the mountains while you wait for Barabarossa or they run out of equipment
@@Bitt3rSteel yep, I just got it, I built level 5 bunkers and with that enough for him to not even try to attack by land, I defended the ports of the Black Sea and he dedicated himself to committing suicide his units with naval invasions

I find attacking Bulgaria and make them a puppet easier. I do this before going to war with Turkey. When Turkey is out of the fight I can focus dealing with Romania. I find it annoying how the Soviets, Hungarians, and Bulgarians will take Romanian territory with key events. Especially, when you have control of the land.

Could someone help me with turkey. I dont think this guide works anymore, because i cannot get window to attack istanbul, because turkey keeps pushing my lines. They lose a lot of their army but so do i. And I also have a lot supply problems so my troops in turkish border are always low on suplies. This guide was made before this new supply patch. God I only want to get good at this game and conquer turkey as greece

@@Bitt3rSteel Spain did flip Gamer in my run, but they join the Axis before I'm able to finish the war. I guess -200 desire to join a faction doesn't mean as much as I assumed it did.
I might try again to see if I can get it done more quickly, but I might end up having to do it the crappy way and race the Allies to Berlin.

@@Bitt3rSteel They still had the -200 even after they had joined! It doesn't go away until 1944, and this all happened in 1940.
This game works in mysterious ways. For all I know, they join at a certain percentage to capitulation and expediting the war will just make them do it sooner. Although I've eaten Spain before as other Gamer nations and I don't remember this happening.
I'll give it another try but if they keep joining I'll just do it without fighting Spain or the UK like you did here. Vichy France seems like a solid route; you'd get a nice beachhead established before Germany could react.
EDIT: GOT IT. Got through Spain quickly enough to keep them out of the Axis, and got the UK done about 3 weeks before my NAP with Italy runs out. The Axis got a lot in the peace conference and the borders are horrifying but I puppeted the UK so I can drag the Brits in if I need help from their massive navy. Regardless, now I can take my time with the Axis and I'll just fight the Soviets wherever we end up meeting in Germany.
You should try the " Die Perfidious Albinion". It is very tricky.
It really isn't, you can just rush Britain down asap and kill them easily. France starts with tons of divisions and Britain won't put their fleet in the north sea. Just invade Hull and its done.

@@failuretv814 Just go Fascist and join Axis, start building ships/submarines early, France actually starts with decent navy, even if its not as big as the UK's. Prep your 7x2 divisions(you may later have 14x4s also) and steamroll the UK.Try to keep stability as high as possible, personally never had civil wars when going with Fascist France/Nationaliste Francais(don't confuse with Vichy France, German Reich's puppet). And achievement is yours.
@@Gun_Metal_Grey A civil war fires if you try to rush down fascism. Because of leagues the stability drops below 30% which fires a communist uprising.
Don't use the decisions to flip to fascist. Focus order: Revive the National Bloc, Banned Communism (removes Political Violence spirit), Utilize the Leagues. After rush to Freedom Front (after Utilize the Leagues this changes from giving Dem popularity to Fascist Popularity). This should then be enough to unlock National Regeneration. Congrats now you've flipped to Fascist without triggering a civil war.
Worst case scenario the guy you need alive dies in the first three days of the game. This actually happened and I was like bruh.
I used this video to try for the Byzantophile achievement, it all went remarkably well! Though there has been a bit of a snag moving forward...
I forgot to justify on Hungary preemptively and sat around for 80 days. Now I can't get into a defencive war with Italy because they never justified on me. Can't even go for a quick justification via core territory because they managed to lose Albania. Not sure what I'm going to do now.

well for me was a defense war against soviets, i join axis, win the war with 40%, then i leave axis to go war against italy, join allies who kicked me several times xD but i win with 60% war score.
maybe you play greece again for "this is madness" and the other achievement who require win civil war before 1937.

The strat for Turkey doesn't work anymore, the supply is awful on the border so it is almost impossible to push through the Turkish line, build a port or fall back to Thessaloniki and do it there, I wasted so much time trying to do it around Edirne that Romania joined the Axis and dragged Germany and Italy in
I've had the Mengali convention succeed.
What's the advantage of utilize our strengths? Forcing the farmers into factories seems to have way better bonuses.

couldn't get the achievement because when I naval invaded italy, they sent probably more than a 100 divisions there, encircled my armies and made it impossible to push
I watched the feedback video befode this yall used the Same strategy for turkey

When do you change over to Hoplities?
Whenever I try attacking turkey my divisions just retreat back to my side of the river. Is there a certain order your supposed to give them to not retreat?
