Damn, I'm glad over 100 people were stoked for me! I actually haven't done one since then, as I've gotten a 10 inch deck and some shoes that ended up having a long toe box, so kickflips are way tougher. Instead though, I've learned to manual ollie recently, and that feels super fun. And just about every boneless and no comply I can think of, too. I find every type of skating fun
OG Classics in 99a is my go to now. I did have them in 97a but the streets would chew them up after a few sessions. 99a’s take a beating and the shape is perfect for just about everything. I knew you would dig them 💯🫡
I've just binged most of your videos today 👍🏻 what a channel for skateboarding 👊🏻 it's fantastic watching skateboarding from your view and what you can make skateable. I've only just started with my little girl and I'm in my 30s so you've opened up the whole world of skateboarding for us. Thank you dude.
Thank U 4 weighing these wheels!! Iv been up in the air about conicals & og's & haven't been able 2 find weights anywhere. U Rock!! Keep up the good work!!
been obsessed with 90s skating recently & seeing that blank check board again pushed me over the edge lmao. I just got a REAL Flyer 8.7 OG football slick bottom; staring out my window til it gets here 😂
Yeah I think they rotate in and out, but imo they should always be in. Maybe swap em with tablets or conicals. I mean they’re called “OG classics” seems like they should be there.
@@dadboard they look a lot like the have really straight edges. Maybe not as much as the tablets but not far from it. As such if we’re playing substitutes I think the tablets should take a turn on the bench. But ideally we’d have access to them all.
Love watching your channel keeps me wanting to skate at 40 it's the only thing me and my son still could bond over he's 17 and I know I'm borrowed time to hang out wit him but a week before Christmas they stole my car and all our boards some presents i bought them I live paycheck to paycheck and idk if can replace our boards please pray to the skate gods for us
The OJ mini combo elites are one of my favorite wheels ever. That being said, I went back to spitfire just for shits and giggles and I don't think I'm gonna leave for a while.
iv been looking at building a board to relive my youth. i skated in the early 2000's and these flat / large surface area wheels are what i remember having. not because i actively sought them out but because i used the same wheels for years, so over time they became flat, lol.
Go for it, man! I started again after 13 years off at the age of 35. Just remember to be easy on yourself and pretty much look at it like you’re starting from scratch with a bit of a head start. Diet and exercise are crucial 💪
I have been using Andy Anderson nano cubes. They lock in nice, ride nice and cover your nuts. I also do freestyle along with street so it’s a specific app. Always skated some version of spitfire in the 90s.
Love me some 58mm OG Classics. They are my fave wheel for transition on old pitted parks. I ride SPF P5 shape on newer glassy concrete. The shapes are not too dissimilar and TBH if Spitfire made 58mm OG's in 101 I'd probably pick them on the smooth stuff. There's something about that F4 urethane.
Regular conicals don't get enough love. OG Classics are sick too. OG Classics were my go to wheel, but they stopped making them for a few years. I got hooked on the regular conicals in that time
OG classics are easily the best wheel. They slide soooo nicely and are pretty smooth on crusty ground. Very easy to manipulate and make rolling away from tricks a lot easier. Even the 52mm can be used for a quick cruise and will go over a lot, cause of the wider riding surface.
I skated the conical full 52 mm and enjoyed it , I noticed increased stability for flatground tricks on set up I was able to do tricks while rolling really fast easier , started skating the classics in 51mm because of sewa's setup , now ive been skating bones STF 51mm 103a and love them they have a unique grip and feel , I had flatspotted some F4 spitfire classics withing a week while getting stuck on a pebble good so I switched to the bones back on now its my main wheel at the moment . I may give the spitfires a chance again but ive been enjoying bones stf's , I like the aesthetic of the pure white wheels , and when skating parks they clean themselves and look fresh
going to have to try some Nano Rat x 39mm 54's before i consider these the more or less go-to option for anything above 9" for me the patch weight and edge/pop profile is too good. Indy mids weigh so much one of the only trucks id actually consider with hollow axles and IKP, Tbh with conical bushings too theyre probably one of the best indys out there. Then again 6.1 ventures are also much lighter and just need v8 plates and hollow axles, IMO a hollow kingpin definitely changes the feel for airs and fliptrick/spin aspects for pop/follow throughs. When trucks are too light its definitely a lot harder to manage/control wall to wall in transition/flow really hard to stomp tricks and keep speed bc the board feels like a toy with something like thunder titanium lights or venture v-hollow lights. But id definitely say if youre on the mend or recovering from a mild to light leg/ankle injury those lighter trucks are a lot easier to flip tricks with or get a session in with at your local a lot less fatigue vs a shortened session when you arent 100%. Theyre perfect for flatground, ledges mild park skating but thats about it ATP might as well run tablets or slim/sidecut wheels and some TECH light deck too while youre at it that youll never let bake in the trunk/sun XD. I guess if ppl are devoted enough to their quiver. I just retired the super light trucks to the long range/cruiser setup, easy to ollie up curbs, the wheels/risers are heavy enough, fun to slappy/wallie up curbs or small bonk gaps Keyframes, clouds, or some soft 80HD spitfires with cores in em.
Thank you for your review on the og classics. I’ve been thinking about getting either the bones x formula wheels or the og classics, but this video made me think about the og classics more.
It’s like a jr college type of thing. The ground is so good but those benches are scary af to me. Just a little too tall and they have those curbs next to them that always make it feel like you could get broke off and fall into one 😰
Congratulations. You've discovered the secret wheel. My list goes Og Radial Classic Radial full Conical Tablet Lock ins don't make the list because the beautiful black ring graphic that's also on the og is on the inside
OG classics are the best. Definitely look cooler than conicals and the graphic usually stays on too. Bought some as soon as they redropped this season and will probably grab another.
I need to like the look of my gear. Conical fulls have that beveled sidewall that just irritates me. On top of being heavier I’ll just stick with these as long as I can get them
Great content! I just got back on the board after years and have some 53/54 mm spitfires for the park which work well, and OJ cruisers for around my building and street , cuz without them It’s like I’m Stuck in glue. I’ve tried to switch wheels mid session to work on different tricks etc, it’s never been optimal , but wondering will these OG 58mm be a good option for me? Appreciate it! Keep up the good work 🏆🛹🔥🫡📺💯
58mm is a big wheel, man! If you’re trying to pop your board and do flip tricks they may make it a bit harder also cause some unnecessarily wheelbite, but if it’s to cruise around on and skate transition they’ll be fine. What truck are you using with them?
@@dadboard appreciate the reply! I was going to put them on my new girl board from CCS being delivered this week 8.25, indie trucks 139 mm coming with bones reds, and spitfire F4101 54 mm , I found another park in my area with more surface area to cruise with less intimidating bowls, etc, maybe those 54mm will be best for that? I love my OJ wheels to cruise my city streets on my element complete from my local shop but feel heavy to try to flip etc as you said so looking for a middle ground .. do you think just getting in the flat pavement park as much as possible and getting my speed, balance up is going to be better for my progression? Or keep my daily city cruising and hit the park in another month or so ? 🫡🤞📺🛹
I feel the thunder hollow lights are too light, especially with the classics. Should I try a conical full? I feel this might balance out the weight. I think I just need the board a tad heavier. Also, does the feel for tricks/riding feel way different?
Light trucks are not for everyone. I’ve heard a lot of people say they prefer to have some weight in their trucks so it’s all up to your preference. I didn’t notice any major differences in slides or riding aside from feeling faster from more surface area but the OG’s do lock you into grinds more
Hey man, I've been thinking about getting some better parts, I have a spare set of decent bearings and I was looking at all these wheels they make. I’ve been seeing a lot of people say these mess with their tail and nose slides. How did your slides feel for you? The same, different? Im thinking about trying these out and just asking around.
What do you think of OJ wheels? Ever skated them? Best wheels I’ve rode, Elite Hardline OJ Wheels. Smooth, most comparable shape would be the conical 4 I think.
I had some OJ elite something when I got back into skating a few years ago, mainly because Andrew cannon sold me on them when he was doing those NHS product videos on RUclips. They were ok, but the next set I bought was some price point OJ’s called “from concentrate” or something and they literally started to fall apart in chunks within like 2 weeks.
