I used to skate often as a child and eventually stopped altogether as I grew older. I visited at rink back in November of 2019, and I fell in love with skating all over again I tried to fight buying my own skates, but when the pandemic hit and I couldn’t go to the rink, I decided to bite the bullet and buy my own. I ended up deciding on the Reidell R3 outdoor skates and let me tell you. The difference between skating indoors and outdoors on your own was transformative for me. I began skating every single day, thanks to working from home and living near a mostly unused basketball court. The more comfortable I became on my own skates, the more I ventured out into different areas of the city to street skate. I eventually decided to upgrade to the Boardwalk skates and WOW. The Reidells are fantastic, but the Boardwalks are definitely my favorite hands down. They’re very versatile for whatever type of skating I do (street skating, jam skating, etc). As of now, the Boardwalks are my outdoor skates and I’ve changed the wheels on them, so now the R3s are my indoor skates. Thanks for reading and I wish you luck on your skating journey!
I ordered moxi skates 2 days ago because of you and I’m so excited!! Thank you for sharing your journey and giving me the inspiration to learn skating.
At about time 13:00 that toe guard matches the boot colour very nicely . I saw hard toe guards long ago on boys that were playing roller blade hockey . Good to have toe guards. I'm from Toronto , what city are you from ?
I used to love rollerblading as a kid! I got rollerblades for my bday, and I'm so excited to try them out. I also managed to score a pair of in-stock Moxi's just yesterday. I am super duper excited to try roller skates for the first time! You make roller skating look so fun, I just had to go get a pair!
Thanks for inspiration! Seen ur skating journey & glowup in COR and u got me excited. I just actually got my first pair of Rollerskates today. I was inbetween Chaya Melrose Elites, Sure Grip Boardwalks (like urs), and Moxi Panthers. I ended up getting the Panthers and just unboxed them while watching this video 😂🛼. Never skated before just blades, so this will be interesting 😁
Impalas are so pretty and the price is good but so many people that get Impalas have issues with the heel lifting within months of use.. such a bummer. I’m in between Impalas or Candy Girl skates since I won’t be skating aggressively
Impala is an overrated "brand". Basically, all low budget skates share the same basic model, made in china . The material is PU, which is plastic thats all glued together. If you want long lasting skates, you have to get proper roller skate boots by brands like Riedell, Risport, SPTeri, Jackson or Edea which will set you back around 200 USD for a good basic boot. Combine it with a basic plate and good set of wheels, another 200 USD. These will last you for ages and can take a lot of strain and maltreatment:)
I need to get back into skating! I learned about Moxi skates through Indy Jamma Jones. Dirty Deborah school of skate (not sure of exact name but you get who I’m talking about) is amazing. Now I need to get my Jacks out and start practicing in the cold since it’s cold here.
Great reviews! I'm starting to skate and curious about which skates to buy for figure and hip hope dancing. I want one pair of skates that can do both types of dancing to practice on.
My skates, that I have had for an eternity, bought used from a thrift store 22 years ago lol, have now died! I’m looking for new skates and after watching a billion videos, including many of yours, I think I am leaning towards the Boardwalks. I tried on the Lollies, and love them, but want to get a skate for the best quality and price and not buy just because I of branding and because I love Estrogen Jen 😉. I think I’d prefer the former boot that comes with the Sure-grips. I saw in a recent comment by you, that your moonlights are your favs, with boardwalks a close second. Do you still feel that way? Thanks so much for your videos - hugs, from a mom of three 😉 PS, not content related, but I love your short hair!
Thank you so much for this great video, which I found really really helpful! I live in France and have eventually found some available Sure Grip Boarwalk skates which are exactly like in your video....... Sizing??? Omg I am trying so hard to figure this out. My foot length is 23cm and wondering which size to get. Is there any way you could let me know your foot length in centimetres and which size you chose? I have never bought skates before but I dream of having these SG Boardwalk skates and would really appreciate your help 😍 Thank you so much 😁
Haha I am muma of 5 littlies and I was a rollerblader when i was young. It is exciting and a fun way to keep fit! Did not know how to roller skate! But I love learning how to. It is a bit scary because I am not experienced with stopping lol
I am a roller skater and have been since I was a wee one. The first time and last time I used roller blades I nearly killed myself. I got stuck in the middle of the road, because the bumps were too big and trying to walk over them made me out of control. Stopping was a nightmare. I was a speed skater and almost never road a toe stop so site skid did not work. It is all what you are use to. Speed skates should not have a toe stop. That is just a shoe skate.
Those first quad skates, if you’re not aware already, they’re good for roller derby. And I would not recommend them for first timers. P.s. my first skates were similar to your shiny Impalas (mine were glitter) and they are scuffed assss. But I like that look. I never used toe guards :)
Don’t get angel skates if you can help it ! The moxi rainbow rider and impalas are the same price point and have much better customer service, materials/construction, and warranties ... there are some Reddit horror injury stories from the super cheaply made angel skates if you want to check out the issues
@@Smallbootyhoe3869 The reason why so many people buy angel skates are because they are always in stock. The rainbow riders and impalas are almost never in stock and most people don’t wanna wait, so they buy angel skates (which look exactly like impalas). Angel skates also advertises a lot more and they look like a great brand, which is why so many people buy.
Best video ever! Thank you for explaining and getting straight to the point!

Where did you find them?? Lol! Mine are on preorder until spring
@@Amberwardell I found them at pigeon skates. They got a small restock and I jumped on it because I couldn’t even find a preorder.

Can you share the etsy shop for the Toe Guards?
What do toe guards do?
@@queenrae91 so they don't get scuffed up
I was convinced and based on your review and another experts review I purchased my skates. Boardwalk Thank you
I’m trying so hard to make the switch. It is definitely a challenge. Love this video!

Are the sure grips good for indoors as well??
Did you add the etsy link for the toe guard?
Do you have a favorite brand of protective gear and helmets?
Check out inline figure skating, which is roller blading but with a toe stop. Its like ice skating on wheels.
I am still learning!! Happy Easter 🐣
I’m trying to use quads because they’re more stable to build skills to get better at rollerblading.

I’ve heard that, too. It is a shame. But so far mine are doing fine with my non-aggressive skating!
Checkout the Chaya Melrose Elites! They’re on sale at easternskatingsupply.NET
Happy skating 🛼
