This is going to be a long comment, so bear with me. After extensive testing with my buddy, 3+ hours, in its current state, this weapon is garbage in my opinion. Anything and everything can set off the airburst. We have found that fellow players can set it off, sentries, landmines, and even drops like resupplies and support weapons. It CAN blow up fabricators. However, every single thing around that fabricator needs to be destroyed. All enemies, all landmines, and even things like fences might trigger the rocket to explode before it actually enters the vent. When it comes to enemies, all tier one enemies can easily be destroyed, with killing up to 10+ at a time. The effectiveness of this rocket launcher essentially ends there. When it comes to berserkers and devastator, me and my buddy hit them right in the chest with the rocket and it still on multiple occasions did not kill them. when it comes to hulk's, it takes a minimum of two rockets, and sometimes takes upwards of 5-6. For the tanks and gun towers, we have seen as little as two shots, even if it's to the vents, but may take up to 4-5. Further testing still needs to be done on its effectiveness against gun ships. However, we have found that it can take them out with one shot, but many times needed 2-3 shots. It is completely ineffective when using it inside of a shield generator relay. Every other gun you can shoot through the shield, but this one actually detonates when it hits the shield. If I had to rate this weapon on a scale from 0-10, as of right now I would give it a 2/10. Pros: very good at clearing large groups of tier one enemies. Cons: extremely long reload time. ~6-7 seconds. lacks a minimum detonation distance. identifies all friendly items as potential threats. cannot be used within 30-40m without risking damage to yourself. consistently needs more than one shot to take out medium tier enemies. has extremely low armor penetration.
I’m excited to see how it does against the bugs because I think that it could be very effective against them, but yeah against the bots it is not that amazing.
@@ianvecmanis5642 yes, we tried it. It eliminates the reload time so the DPS is insane. However, every time I pulled the trigger I was worried that we were going to blow up. there were two occasions earlier on where it blew up because it perceived our resupply to be a threat, and it killed us both.
Did you try detonating the rocket above it behind the devastators? I have had success killing multiple devastators with one rocket before by detonating it in the air above them (proximity fuse) or behind them if I have high ground. It is an airburst after all, the main damage is from the shrapnel and if you aim the rocket directly into a devastator the shrapnel will be thrown away from the target

i was able to take out a medium base with one when just aiming slightly above it all. I watched another video that mentioned that dev said this was not the final play version. Another good one Mute!!!
Amazing showcase! Immediately recognized the weapons purpose, no "rage" because the weapon is unfair, but instead just skill and awareness! So far, I like it the most in open fields or against freshly dropped bots. For outposts, the walls seem to eat most of the clusters. Personally, I tried your weapon loadout and Scorcher + Grenade Pistol + Stun Nades. Both did quite well. And I also learned something. I didnt know stun grenade + full redeemer mag skills a hulk. Very good!
Presumably this is the same as the Recoilless in terms of ending the reload slightly early - when the ammo icon goes from red to white, press crouch and skip the last part of the animation to get going early.
I wish the community would have fought for the anti-tank mines instead... this takes up the backpack and special weapon slots while being an ok weapon, and i feel like people will not use this very often after it gets its fixes. If we had the anti-tank mines, we could use that without stopping....
5:00 i think the reason it blew up is because it decided that the resupply case was a emtity and blew up prematurely. Apparently even strategem balls will make airburst blow up.
yeah any entity that can be affected by physics will set off the proximity fuse of the airburst launcher. They should really fix that before they push out the major patch and release the weapon.
The Airburst Rocket Launcher is a very funny weapon. Obviously, it needs a lot of fixing, but I hope to learn how it performs against bugs and how it performs in defense missions with a teammate.
39:09 that was not your fault this gun bugged and unpatched which was confirmed by the devs. It is a proximity detonation which can explode from everything including helldiver standing next to you, ammo boxes, wall, shrubbery, etc. it's way too sensitive and inconsistent right now.
I think the new rocket launcher is trash and unfortunately I don't think we are even gonna get to try out the other one cause the planet is still locked
From everything I've seen, I think it only spawns one gunship that just patrols the area, and I don't think it spawns more until you fight that one. By the time that gunship saw me, the facility was already destroyed, so it didn't spawn any more.
@Mute_R6 nah fam within 150 meters you get one every 2 mins. There's video's online of people getting spawn killed by a dozen or more you got some God tier luck

I shot this at a patrol squad whilst standing on top of a cliff, with nothing in front of or around me, and it just blew up in front of my face.

Drop podes, supply drops, and even turrets can prematurely detonate the rockets.
