With all respect, but I don't think it's your task to share what Colin's family is going through or whether he was missing or not. It's a very personal matter and Colin should share what he wants to share. Even if you know more than you should, it's the loyalty which makes you not share it with the whole world without Colin's permission.
Now it feels like some sort of privacy violation or snitching.
I hope you can understand what I mean here. Colin comes off as pretty shame sensitive. Let him share the chapters he wants to share. The rest is none of our business.

I was homeless and on heroin and i kicked it. You can do it bro. I did, you can too. I used suboxone. Bought them on the street instead of dope and stayed on them until i didn't care about heroin anymore. Then weened down off the subs until eventually i stopped them too. This was a couple years ago and i have zero interest in ever touching heroin again. The longer you go without it, the less you care about it. At this point I can't even believe i was ever on heroin.

First, I just want to thank Mark, for helping share people’s stories who otherwise might not have a voice. I do think it’s great therapy for those addicted or struggle with mental health to talk through their life and get to tell their story. I have watched many interviews, and while I wish all could get the help they need, I especially wish it for Colin. I feel that he doesn’t understand his own worth, and he (like all) is capable of turning his life around. What I have found also knowing an addict, is they really, really need to want to change. No one else can stop what they put into their body, stop how they spend their money, stop how they live their life. After a while, I’m sure it gets comfortable having a routine, even on Skid Row.
Colin- you deserve so much better than this. If you want to make the change, I believe in you, I know you can do it. The world doesn’t own you, you can come out on top. Lots of love ❤️

It's abuse to keep children from their parents. Unless, it's in the best interest of the child's well-being. It's also abuse to speak negatively of the absent parent as that parent is Half of who they are = whatever negative words are said about the parent, the child accepts as half of their identity.

Such a charismatic, honest, humble, and sweet guy. Despite all the suffering he has went through he still looks healthy and young for his age. Seems very sharp and intelligent, too. I sincerely hope that he decides to get help. Again, listening to his autobiography, it becomes apparent that it's not the substances which are solely responsible for the situation of most addicts. It's rather their upbringing, traumatic expierences, and mental health. Unfortunately, this is passed down from generation to generation until someone breaks the cycle. Our society as a whole and politicians in particular tend to argue that it's only the substances that are responsible for the suffering of so many. It's not. It's just easier to explain in such a simple manner, it works great for an election campagain. All over the world - look at Duterte, for example. I wish in the future we will shift our focus and stop stigmatizing people who suffer from addiction of any kind. Nonetheless, I hope you can break the cycle, Colin! Wishing you all the best!

It always breaks my heart. I remember learning in nursing school about childhood trauma and it being passed down for generations and cycles needing to be broken, etc., and even saw some very rough things while working as a nurse. But I truly didn’t realize how closely addiction and trauma were correlated. These videos are so eye opening and heartbreaking. It makes me look at everyone in a child-like state and just cry for the horrible things these people have had to endure. It’s just unthinkable and I know I’m just beyond blessed for the way I grew up. Sorry to take over your comment, but yours just stuck out to me and I just agree so much with you. So much could be different in this world if we didn’t have people birthing kids and putting them through hell, and then them not knowing any differently and repeating the cycle over and over. My little brother accidentally overdosed and died when he was 33. It's urgent that these people get help as quickly as possible. It's not always going to happen that way but every day that goes by is a day closer to their last.

It just confuses me. How can we be so hypocritical with our judgement. How do we know that the parents of the addict didn't have an awful life too...? Aren't they a victim in their own right? We don't know their story. I just think we should be more aware of that fact.

Colin, I'm in New Zealand and I watched this video last night, our time. It touched me deeply, and I even woke up a couple of times in the night thinking about you. You've had such pain and cruelty handed out to you and yet I see a man with such love, decency, work ethic and morals. When your father made you kneel on dry rice, I wonder what part of "Do unto others as you would have done unto you" he didn't understand? Your mum embarrassing you with her behaviour and your ex withholding your own son from you -- far out, makes me wonder what planet these people are from, yet I guess they are sick, ignorant, and/or narrow-minded with their own burdens to try and work out.
Listen, you are still young. Life is not over. You have a great heart and soul, as well as courage and strength and the other qualities I mentioned above. You need professional help to get off the drugs. Do that, and your life will transform. In not too many years from now, your son will be a legal adult and you will be able to have a relationship with him. I'm surprised the Court didn't give you access to him, but I don't know how things work over there. Seems pretty messed up from where I see it.
Look to the future, a future of living, not just existing, a future with a good father-son relationship, a future where you can feel good about yourself. If I was your son and met you when I was 18, and learned what you had been through and how you had fought your way back to health and well-being, and still loved me after all that, man I would be so proud of you and love you so much. Do it!!!! Make this a reality. I'll be thinking of you from Down Under. As we say in New Zealand, "Kia kaha!!" Be strong. You can do this. You have the heart and the brains to do it.

Colin if by any remote miracle you read this message please hang in there man. You are intelligent, articulate, sensitive and handsome. You got so much going for you that a lot of people will
never have. I know it must be difficult but you can’t let your family background destroy the rest of your life. My thoughts go out to your childhood situation because you had no choice but even now, although at a low ebb you “still do”. I have real hope for you and I mean that genuinely pal.
You express yourself so well. One day I could easily see you making a great counsellor or an advocate to young people, so that they avoid the pitfalls and taking a similar path to yours. There is a way out and it’s waiting for you when “you’re ready”’.
Thank you for your honesty and sharing the truth of your life. The bravery of your vulnerability is admirable. It’s a painful story but like I said. “I believe it’s not the end of your story”. You matter and you got so much to give and to still offer life. Don’t let the numbness and the daily grind win the day…DON’T!!
Inside your heart you know what you need to do. You know where you need to go. It’s written in your heart and conscience. If that’s going to rehab, speaking to someone, forgiving your past, then DO IT!!….I know you can do it.
I too am a father and I had to fight for my son. It’s not been easy. I can relate to you, I can see in your eyes and hear in your voice how much you love your boy. I know that’s the case. Nothing works out as we planned or indeed hoped at times but your son will one day come looking for you. I believe this. You will always be “your son’s father”. Never forget that because no one can take that away from you.
Theres still something to “aim for. That love you still clearly have for him is “never lost or wasted”…never. I can see that from over 6,000 miles away. I don’t want this video to be your final epitaph okay. To one day be clean and in contact with your son in “some way”’ is still a possibility. It might not be perfect but it would change yours and your son’s life. In your beating heart and inner soul you know you can “never give up on that”…NEVER!!
Lots of love, be brave and remember your not alone in the struggle.
Wishing you well from Liverpool England.

I have my own business now and I’m having my first Christmas with my 21 year old daughter this year. I’m grateful for my brother for being there for me. If you can Colin go home it’s not to late. Please be safe your family knows your alive and not missing anymore. You are loved and wanted

If there ever was a person that could be brought back it’s Colin. I wish nothing but positivity for Colin so he can break the chain and be with his son.

From one Louisianian to another, bro you dont have to live like this. Alcohol and drug abuse is steeped in the culture of where we are from. But so are so many of the good qualities I see you exhibit in this video; kindness, relatability, honesty, easygoing...I'm praying for better days for you. You gotta get into detox and never stop trying if you fall off . Your son will Always desire you to be happy and healthy. No matter what mistakes of the past💗💗💗🙏

Your kid is going to be a man before you know it, and will likely look for you. Don’t let your kid be your downfall or uprise. Be the man your kid would be proud of, for yourself, so that you’re ready for him when he’s old enough to reconnect. You told us the crappy stuff baby mama did but glazed right over anything that you did. Take responsibility and just do your best going forward.

@@philinn4788 I didn’t attack anyone. I feel for him. That doesn’t change the fact that he’s responsible for his own choices and would feel better about himself if he got back to working and being in a position where he can respect himself.

This man's channel is absolutely amazing. So much therapeutic value in getting lost in his work and seeing what life "could be like".....and what to be grateful for when you think things are bad in your life.
