- Newly single and uninspired by his job in college admissions, the introverted Jesse Fisher (Josh Radnor) lives with his head buried in a book. His deep nostalgia for his own alma mater in Ohio -- the dining halls and dorm rooms, the parties and poetry seminars -- makes him wonder if his best days are behind him. So when his favorite professor (Richard Jenkins) invites him back to campus to speak at his retirement dinner, Jesse jumps at the chance. Meeting Zibby (Elizabeth Olsen) -- a precocious classical music-loving sophomore -- awakens in Jesse long-dormant feelings of possibility and connection.

Wouldn't you? I know that I would.
Nobody feels like an adult. That's the worlds dirty secret.
So true.
Why so truerious..
@@balwinder4721 wow, you replied to my comment 11 years later. I had no clue I wrote this
@@jimicapone hope adulting is treating us well..

how are things after 11 years man?
@@shunkaidou2933 about the same except more gray hair
Nobody feels like an adult. it's the world's dirty secret...
Jesus, this movie deserves a lot more attention: well casted (amazing performance by Olsen), likeable script. But all the comments are about Ted Mosby. I'm sad
I feel you. In fact I knew Josh Radnor because of this movie. When I saw HIMYM I said "hey, that's the guy from Liberal Arts". The movie has some unique moments, but the ending was appaling to me.
True.. Such a poignant movie this is!
Never knew their were more Olsen siblings, Elizabeth, was the shining beacon, in already great cast.
mosbius design has failed !!!!
Kids, in the summer of 2012 I starred in a movie.
Lizzie Olsen is absolutely perfect
1:40 it broke my heart.
The song towards the end is 'Me and the Mountain' by Team Me, found it through a kind reply to one of the comments asking its name below
That "she's the second best teacher" thing feels like it was written for himym
Looks like Manic Pixie Dreamgirls are back
it's funny how he looks a lot like Ted Mosby.
Classic Schmosby ;)
show de bola amei !!!!
How Ted met Wanda!
It's a more accurate representation of life as an undergraduate than some other movies I watched about college...
Have you seen Animal House?
@@scdrescher1 Animal House centers around students who neglect their studies because of student life problems...
@@A350Airways then how about “Back to School” with Rodney Dangerfield ? That seems pretty spot on
enjoyed a lot and could not take away from it.
Love this film 💕
finally not a disgusting age-gap movie
Ted Mosby what are you doing? You have children !
How come every character Josh plays was from Ohio? Is that because Josh was from Ohio?
Yes. Write what you know, play what you know.
"I was english with a minor in history, just to make sure I was fully unemployable."😂
Man, nothing in this film is appealing to me. But it’s so, so good. The whole is greater than its parts.
so where is barney, lily, marshall and robin waiting for him in mc lareens :D
What is the title of the song featured towards the end of this trailer?
Where can I watch this!
name of the song please
Full movie pls
watch the first hour of the movie. this film could be one of the greatest films that have been ever written. ı feel like Radnor got bored and just ended the movie as he didn't want to write anymore. Make yourself a favour and DONT WATCH THE END(AFTER FIRST HOUR)
Why only the first hour??
Yhea... stupid ending, pointless movie.... whats the point - "stick to the ordinary life" and "every woman is using you" ... where is love... duhhhh
I like the ending. Every movie is about happily ever after.. This was a change actually. Amazing work.
I didn't know that Ted even dated Wanda!
Poor bastard is always going to be typecast as a romantic.
AND
he wrote it
Where i can watch it?
what is the song at the end of the trailer ?
“Me and the Mountain” by Team Me
thought that was victoria of himym for a second
What's the title of song when logo of Sundance appears?
50 cent party in da club
for every 30 sick and terrible movie trailers that I saw today this one was the only one I would even watch to the end. they should make all movies like this one!
And that kids is how I met your mother
What mother
I will watch this eventually but he is just coming off as Ted with a beard imo.
Not a bad movie.
how i met elizabeth olsen 😆😆😆
lol, he’s 35, sooo controversial 😂
Olsen sure looks like her twin sisters.
Whats the name of movie?
😂😂
Liberal Arts
Ironic
Elizabeth Olsen is 35. She is pretty fresh faced, but she does not look college age.
This is a 2012 movie - she is, in fact, 25 in this movie and 15 years his junior, so ick. Not sure why this is being recommended to everyone suddenly.
@@kadyliang5646 Not sure why that is ick. People need to get over these hang-ups. When I was 24, I dated a 38 year old. Once you are an adult, you are an adult.
@@kadyliang5646 she was 22 here
The reason the age difference doesn't both him is that Elizabeth Olsen is 35.
this was 12-13 years ago
But how will this end systemic racism, which is the number one goal of all colleges now, and rightfully so! And isn’t he a member of the patriarchy? Shouldn’t she have dark eye liner and be binary ? Cancelers, get busy and destroy this outrageous movie with your tweets - get busy with your venom, OR, just watch it and have fun? Which will it be?
John i get that cancel culture and woke media is annoying nowadays but there's no point in putting that in this particular comment section 😂
@@seeksolace2059 isn’t it great that we live in a society where we can openly disagree? We can base our disagreement on the facts as we see them and are beholden to no other individual or organization, but ourselves. In other words, we don’t have to ask permission. Isn’t that great? Let’s keep it that way!
From the start you and I seem to be in disagreement. For instance, you seem to think that woke people are merely “annoying”. I, on the other hand, think that woke-ism is alarmingly dangerous. You seem to think that I am unfairly criticizing this film. Well, don’t you think it’s a little strange that this film is called “liberal arts“? Out of all the departments at a university, which do you think is the most woke? the physics department? The chemistry department? The economics department? The finance school? Or rather any of the liberal arts in any university? Shouldn’t the main character be more woke if they are in the liberal arts? What kind of a liberal arts woke person is interested in romance with a member of the oppressive patriarchy? Remember when the kids at Harvard screamed at their teachers over Halloween costumes? I do. I wonder if those kids were studying calculus or economics or perhaps women’s studies? The irony, here, being that woke-ism and social justice warrior professors have ruined to the liberal arts, and in a sense made the degree worthless. You seem to think That the excesses of wokism should be tolerated. I disagree. I think that they should be questioned and debated, instantaneously, in public as much as possible. If we don’t do that, we are all going to have to tell each our pronouns at every job application and before every meeting in the business. No thanks! I do have a joke to conclude my thoughts. Do you know what the ideal casting of this movie would be? If you wanted to make with woke people really happy, instead of casting this beautiful young woman in the lead, why not cast Dylan Mulvaney ? That would be OK right because there’s absolutely no difference between a woman and a man, right? And Dylan is literally a woman, right? You will not find the solace that you seek by embracing wokism- you will only find resentful destruction.
Wow. You are seriously triggered by a lot of stuff 😊
@@kifacorea Thank you for being triggered by my words. 😎
Yep.
The reason all those Liberal Arts degrees are worthless - is that all you can do with them is teach and all the earlier Liberal Arts Majors have sucked up all those jobs.
I went back and studied Engineering unit I got a job as a computer programmer.
.
Looks like a low budget rip off of Garden State.
“A liberal arts education solves all your problems”
Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
Oh they are in the food industry and retail. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Stupid movie, idiotic ending, the grey side of life...useless
The ending was bittersweet at best, I didn't like it either, but the movie has some beautiful moments.
You just didn’t get it, did you?
hhaha leftism college
"I'm older, I'm 35."...
Elizabeth Olson is 35... this having 30 year olds playing teens is getting ridiculous.
this movie was released 12 years ago..she was 22-23 back then
