Dvorak - Symphony No. 9 "From the New World" Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks Conducted by Rafael Kubelik Herkulessaal Munich December, 1977
m, ho ha dit sempre , el meu professor de violi , vina a Prague , es ho millor , the Symphony Orchestra , is ..............Vyborne , To je prima , To je senzacni , To je fajn , Vynikajici ............J sem stastny ❤😊❤
We were so lucky in the NY Philharmonic to work with him as a guest conductor during the 1970's and '80's. He was one of the greatest conductors I ever worked with and I still miss his warm and intense approach. Our performances of "House of the Dead" were some of the most exciting and meaningful experiences that we had: also Bartok's "Bluebeard's Castle"... and Tschaikovsky 6th Deeply felt and communicated.
Couldn't agree more. I understudied a role in that production and his warmth and humanity as a deeply connected artist has stayed with me all these years.
There was only one conductor who could truly accurately represent Dvorak's 9th and that was Kubelik. May he RIP peacefully. It will be a long time before anyone dares to challenge him... and they will ultimately fail. Bravo Maestro.
Kubelik, the poet among the great conductors. Marvellous. And in some way: nonsense, this best performance thing; he or he, no not he, etc. This symphony can be rendered in several ways. All the great have something of their own to say about it in their performance.
Was fortunate enough to see Kubelik conduct this with the Cleveland Orchestra back in the mid-70s. They would give students the front rows, so while I couldn't see the entire orchestra, I got a great view of the conductor.
TheRunner75 Ok, is a great version in Stereo DG, but my favorite is Kubelik. It is a question of pleasures, but thanks for announcing this excellent version.Saludos
1.Adagio, 4/8 -- Allegro molto, 2/4, E minor 00:00 2.Largo, common time, D-flat major, then later C-sharp minor 09:34 3.Scherzo: Molto vivace -- Poco sostenuto, 3/4, E minor 22:42 4.Allegro con fuoco, common time, E minor, ends in E major 30:29
What a treasure! There are so many sensational Czech recordings conducted by Kubelik on the internet, but there are almost no videos available. What a treat to see him conducting the greatest Czech composition of them all, in his conducting prime with the supreme VPO. He may have been the greatest conductor of this musical genre, had it not been for a certain Hungarian Jewish conductor named Iztvan Kertesz, who was just about incomparable in almost anything he conducted, esp. in Czech works. But Kubelik is the closest on his heels in Dvorak conducting.
The version of "From the New World" I have been accustomed to since the 1980's when I got acquainted with it. Very convincing interpretation, with reasonable colours and tempos applied, ending up with huge satisfaction to the audience emotionally. The winds are terrific in particular and the audio from the LP and the CD I own, is up there and past the Everest and the Mercury labels in general. I take this interpretation as my own ref.
There's a video of Alan Gilbert/NYPhil where commenters are criticizing him for not doing the repeat in the first movement. Rafael Kubelik, one of the greatest Czech conductors, never did the repeat.
A friend said this of Rafel Kubelk: "Anyway, one of the last monophonic performances that has never been surpassed is the Tchaikovsky 6th Symphony in Chicago, in case you find it anywhere. Conducted by Rafael Kubelik." If anyone finds this performance, please post the link below. Thank you. BTW, this particular performance sends adrenal/electrical impulses down my spine and arms. :-)
If you have a working turntable, you can find it on a Mercury Records re-release album titled "Chicago Symphony Orchestra The Kubelik Legacy Vol. I." The catalog number is MG3-4500. Also contained in this 3-LP set are "Pictures at an Exhibition," the Mozart Symphony No. 38 ("Prague"), and "The Moldau" and "From Bohemia's Meadows and Forests" from "Ma Vlast."

Truly great conducting. He knows what he's after in every bar, and communicates it. His concentration is total. Remarkable.
The best conductor, Czech, for this symphony! And so charismatic!
Dvorak , Symphony , nine , is very , very , Good ❤😊❤
Big Dvorak ! Big Kubelik! Big orchestra! Marvellous!

Bravo Maestro. Odpočívej v pokoji.
Kubelik excelled in Dvořák, as did Talich, Ančerl and Mackerras.
@@leestamm3187 I totally agree, but adding almost Fricsay 😄Maybe Kertész?

Immenso meraviglioso Kubelik.
It is amazing that the American experience shines through this amazing performance.
I love how Kubelík makes us feel that Mahler and Dvořák were actual compatriots
A splendid performance. Kubelik and Dvořák were always a great combination.

So great to see Kubelik live here! Bravo & thx to share!
maybe June 19-20, 1980, Herkulessaal der Residenz München and Serenade Für Streichinstrumente E-Dur Op. 22 is recorded on May 25, 1977
c'est simplement sublime....

Lucky bastard. Here I am, a 15 year old and I haven't had the pleasure of seeing and listening to such a stunning performance like this before.
La mejor versión jamás superada por nadie.Extraordinario Kubelik.Fantástica la Orquesta a sus órdenes.
Gracias jbmg17.
Ferenc FRICSAY (Berlin Philarmonic - 1960 - DG) La mejor versión.

I like Kubelik too. Kertesz is good too.

Kubelík and Košler did the best records of Dvořák and Smetana iNDEED.
This is great!

The Master Himself!
It is interesting to hear the similarities between this and the greatest work of Aaron Copland who was clearly influenced by his European brother.
cute musica!

30:44 - most badass drop in a classical music history
The version conducted by Karel Ančerl is truly remarkable one. There is another one from Herbert von Karajan, hard to say which one is better.
Kubelik was a thoughtful conductor and is underappreciated today. I was enjoying this performance until the flubbed chord at 22:00. Awful flat brass.
Can't agree more lol
I hope they do performances of the other 51 games from Action 52
only a czech can conduct that music and make it sound like his home .
Listening is a stunning experience.
Is he chezk
@@makyhsmakyhs6766 He was ;)

Kubelik's early 1950s recording with The Chicago Symphony Orchestra is "the best."

This isn't the Cheetahmen theme.
Hi
+Kristi Ryan Hi
besser geht's nicht!
The "creative" technical camera work could be dismissed!
Kubelík byl nedostižný
pohoda
The version from Karel Ančerl is much more better
Homer sweating....
Thennilapuram Mahadevan what do you mean?
Fricsay is still the best.
No, Svetlanov is better...
