Hey could you do the Neo Geo mini next. It gets so much hate but I love my Neo Geo Mini. Comparing the mini to the astronomical prices of Neo Geo systems and games it's a decent buy.
@@alteredpenguin2073 And it's gonna get better, they will release a joystick that can be used in both the Neo Geo Mini and PC, will have more games built to it to use it as a standalone console and an additional one can be used as a second player joystick.
Hey Mike, something you should know about Mega Man wily wars on this is M2 have removed the horrendous slowdown that plagued the original release... Plus this game normally goes for silly money on eBay for a legit copy so it's worth the price alone. Love the new rental reviews series as well.. I will be following.

Yep! My Genesis Mini came with a non-functional controller. And every Genesis Mini comes with 11 frames of sound lag. Unless they make a second batch that issue likely won't be fixed.

lol, gotta love how they had to add a disclaimer at the end, just to differentiate between when Mike is genuinely pissed off and when he's just acting.
Just because it takes cartridges does NOT mean it is not emulated.
A cartridge is just data storage. It doesn't do the processing. The processing can still be emulated on dissimilar hardware processors or on original processors.
Likewise, games stored on floppy, flash memory, or other non-official storage isn't necessarily emulated. It is just a storage medium. The processor type is what determines if it is being emulated or not.

The one thing that I have to point out about Mega Man: The Wily Wars is it's not just Mega Man 1-3 in 16bit... There is a 4th game that is unlocked after you beat the other 3, with 3 new Robot Masters, and another Wily's Castle set of Stages. You can also mix and match any special weapon from Mega Man 1-3 for each stage, too.

@@TheWonkster he means controller input lag....not framerate lag. Alot of genesis games slow down.....even in emulation....some games just weren't programmed perfectly in the 80s and 90s.

Kieran is right on- by supporting these retro minis, we're paying the manufacturers. This is a trend I am very glad to see happening. Keep them coming and I'll keep on buying them. Sega - we're ready for a Sega CD Mini, Saturn Mini, Dreamcast Mini etc.

Finally a Genesis mini that’s good build quality! Those Atgames Genesis systems that were sold at Rite Aid were trash! My cousin bought one and then returned it, because the sound was terrible and the cartridge games weren’t always working!
I got the smallest atgames model. I've been playing it for years. Responsive controls and all my old games work great. But there seem to be no positive reviews of the atgames model. Am i just an idiot?... That is very possible
I got the small version of that console as a Christmas gift. It does play thr cartridges but the sound is messed up. I haven't found a game it doesn't play, but it's not good audio wise.
Alexinytown my cousin put games like Castlevania: Bloodlines and Aladdin, even other Disney games had froze at certain levels! The audio was so unbearable, he even tried to play the game muted!

@@Markimark151 I luckily haven't had the freezing issues, but that damn audio pisses me off. When you know how it's supposed to sound and it sounds like it does, it tarnishes the experience a bit.

Anybody can be good at video games if that's all they do with their life. He's not even that good for the amount of practice he has had. He couldn't play Friday the 13th on NES to save his life and I can destroy that game with ease in about 7 mins. I'm a gamer since late 80s, but frankly, I really don't miss playing games on old CRT TVs. Even though I did just that for hours, days, months and years - more than a decade ago. I like the clear and sharp video of modern TV screens. It might not be perfect or cool, but I do enjoy classic titles in lame HD.
Mike's rant at the end about the purity of RF console playing had me ROLLING!

I don't think the genesis mini has any more lag than an original genesis in Mike's setup with his hundred switches, converters and pass throughs.
Goodwill stopped taking CRT TV's so unfortunately it's not as easy to grab one at goodwill anymore like Mike said.

It wasn't scripted dialogue but nor was it fully real. Like Curb Your Enthusiasm (a show that is not scripted line-for-line but is nonetheless fictitious improv). They plan out a general framework for the plot but the details are left to improv. People in the YT comments section are 'tarded.
Thanks for the Genesis talk. I feel like the system was a bit overlooked at its time. I loved SNES growing up but as I've gotten older I've come to appreciate the Genesis variety of games and lack of censorship that Nintendo had. The hardware was not as strong as the SNES and the quality control certainly was less, but the fact that there were a wider variety of games was amazing.

Lag sucks for sure, but 9 times out of 10 it's a problem with the tv, not the console (though there was noticeable lag with the Genesis Collection on Switch-- even in handheld)

Sonic's Genesis Collection is still my favorite way to play genesis games. It even allowed save states.

SNES: 21 games
Genesis: 2 classic Disney games
SNES: no Disney games
Genesis: Streets of Rage 2
SNES: didn’t even bother adding the crappy port of Final Fight and its terrible sequels

Haven't seen a heel-turn this solid since 1996. 🔥🔥 They embodied every type of sega/retro fan, and their arguments.
Castlevania Bloodlines alone is enough to want this for me at least. A game that's a few hundred dollars available for 80 with a couple dozen other games. As much as I would like the actual phtsical games. A couple are very expensive.

Yeah, having the originals is pretty cool. But Kieran has a valid point as well. It costs way too much money. I think those mini consoles are a pretty good deal, if done right. Like, if you don't have ANY Sega games right now, and no Sega console, then the mini is a valid option for you.
Ideally, sure. The average middle aged person has a family and there really isn’t room for a CRT and has better things to spend money on, so stuff like the minis is pretty great.

Tony explained to me the reason for the new rooms. It was to prevent camera problems and so that equipment didn't get in the way. So relax, The video room in James's basement isn't going anywhere.

I miss the days when Mike and James would just do a "RE-view" as they showed game footage. Not digging the movie or game reviews with them showing them and their friends talk about it like they're on The View. It feels more intimate when it feels like it's just you and Mike/James.

James's wife got tired of having all these bums in her basement so Cinemassacre Inc had to find a new place where they could shoot their videos. They got a great deal at their local mall, since Amazon killed all stores. They could buy the whole mall for a Big Mac & Cheese.
But James & Mike I have to tell you using the original store inventory as prop feels cheap.
I like Mike. I could tell he's a little nervous starting his own segment, who wouldn't be. I would recommend he be a little more positive and genuine. Sometimes I feel he's waiting for people to stop talking just so he can talk instead of actually listening. And maybe have a little more structure to the episode, it feels very like he's winging it. But I think it's the nerves really, eventually he'll iron out the hosting gig. But overall I like the video. Keep up the good work dude.
I'd like to see a Dreamcast version next along with Saturn
If they did a dreamcast one and it had 3s mvc1&2 and cvs2 with a random selection of other games I'd drop 200 on it
