- Today we are going to continue the Tropical Escape series as promised. But I wanted to focus on cocktails with less ingredients than the traditional tiki drinks and ones that are more practical/less expensive for the home bartender. The Daiquiri and the Wray and Ting cocktails seemed to be a perfect fit for this concept.Yes, Im aware they are tiki adjacent at best but I think they capture the essence of the tropics in a very minimalist way.
Wray & Ting
1.5oz Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum
2-4oz (or more) Ting Grapefruit Soda
1-2 Lime Wedges
Build the cocktail in a tall collins glass. Pour in rum and then fill with ice cubes. Top up with Ting Grapefruit Soda. Then cut a wedge of lime and squeeze the juice into the drinks and drop the spent lime wedge into the drink.
Daquiri
1.5oz of White or Lightly Aged Rum
1/2oz of Cane Sugar Syrup(2:1)
1oz of Lime Juice
Combine all ingredients in a shaker tin. Shake vigorously with two large ice cubes for approximately 20-30 seconds and double strain into a chilled coupe. As stated in the video, cane sugar syrup is different than simple syrup. You can also use any rum you like. Lighter rums will yield a more fresh and crisp drink. Darker and more aged rums will deliver a richer and more complex drink.
Cane Sugar Syrup
Heat up 1 cup of water in a small sauce pan over medium heat. Whisk in 2 cups of Organic Cane sugar. Whisk until it dissolves completely and remove from heat. Cool and pour into a bottle with a lid. Keep refrigerated for two weeks.

Badass vid!
A Wray daquerie is really good!
I bet it is. Im still getting used to the idea of using wray and nephew white as base spirit. Just saw a Jason Alexander cocktail in the Tiki Recipes Group with 3oz of Rum Fire lol I couldn't imagine
I’ll have to try these!
I am aware I spelled Daiquiri wrong in the video. If anyone has any feedback, please leave a comment! Thanks for the support on last video. Additionally, this video was filmed in 4k. If you want to view it that way you can change it in settings.
Absolutely awesome video! Love your spin on these cocktails. BTW where did you get that Wray and Nephew bottle?!! I need that in my life lol. Keep up the good content on your channel ! Can’t wait for your next video 😁
One of my friends brought it to me. They only sold it by the handle where he was at. And thanks! if you really like tiki, I will have a real good one next week!
