In 1984 I was 12.... and I would always be so pissed because when I turned MTV on, the video was 1/2 or more over... I always caught it mid way...Eventually I did see the entire video thanks to getting a VCR and just recording MTV
Saddest part is that disguised behind this catchy pop sound and the dancing is the lyrics, which are a cry for help, from a addict realizing their lifestyle is literally killing them, the guitarist Jane who wrote this song quit the band after this album...
I was around at the time. Funny you called it that they looked awkward, cuz they actually were NOT getting along at the time. They had a major break up after this album. Lots of drama, jealousy and drugs within the band.
They were probably drugged out of their minds during this video and they all hated each other at this time haha. They would soon break up after this. However, the song is excellent and you might like it more if you listened without the video. I love how it pairs lyrics about spiraling out of control with happy upbeat music, an interesting contrast.
Things were not great at that time. Jane would be the first to leave later in 1984. Head over heels was the biggest hit from the album, reaching #11 on american billboard top 40. Other releases from the album were not big hits. By 1985, they were disbanded.
Wow. you could feel that. They had a lot of tension between members.

This song is better than " Our Lips are Sealed" in my opinion.
This is their best song to me.
I remember back then Belinda Carlisle had a major crush on me ...Oh wait that might've been the other way around?

They’ve been nominated to the rock n roll hall of fame.
They have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Lead singer is Belinda Carlisle, who was a solo artist as well.
Are you kidding me? The song is a great song!
The 80's were something to be contended with.
I’ve always liked this song, but your comments are very perceptive, and spot on.

If you’ve seen 13 Going On 30, you’ve heard this song.
Maybe not judge a song by the video. Example ..listen to this song and do a review without a video. ruclips.net/video/HcSVZD8Bk1w/видео.html
Just found out that this was the last video they did. Thing were going down hill.
