    So many people talking trash! 😅😅😅 firstly, you mod you car to personalise it, and to design the car to how you enjoy. Sure 50k may get a newer car or a used m3/m5. But then, you have a car that is nowhere near as fast as this car, is not personalised to the owners taste, and will not provide anywhere near the smiles per miles. Plus 50k over 4 years is completley different to having that upfront before he could make that inital purchase. And it's a repeating cycle. Take the m3/m5 and do the same thing, okay your now 100k in. Why not buy (insert car here). Then again and again. People buy the car they can afford and want, and modifications is fun for then. It's not all just about resale value jeez!

    • @TheKenduMillionaire
      @TheKenduMillionaire 5 лет назад +1

      @@jake_spence exactly mate! Your car will constantly evolve, and thats what makes it worth it. Everything you do to it, is a journey, and an experience, and you enjoy the car more as it become more of a reflection of what you want, rather then just another stock car off a showroom floor.

    You said you’re over 50K for four years of ownership?? Don’t think that’s crazy at ALL!! That’s about the starting price of a used M3/M4 and then go from there, plus you are above those power levels. 50 grand over that time for a 135i is not bad at all. TRUST me!! Nice car too.

    Thanks a lot Jake for sharing this information , i want to build drift car 135i or 335i with N54 engine , from beginning i would get good suspension , way bar ,i would do simple modifications like short shifter, add hydraulic hand brake , remove exhaust mulfer , downpipe, cahrgepipe, and i will try different tuning , i think stage 1 would be enough for beginning and will test a lot things .

    Dope video jake that’s a lot of money almost could have done this with a used Porsche at this point me personally I’m doing a twin turbo upgrade down the road all I want is 500hp this 7-800hp costs large as we can all see and it’s then a fun car not a daily driver reliability goes way down at that hp rate . Great video thanks for passing on costs . Make more videos for the n54 gang cheers !

    • @jake_spence
      @jake_spence  6 лет назад +2

      Thanks man! Yeah, there are ton of things you can buy in this price range. But to get one of these cars bone stock (cheap) and sink $15k into it for 700+whp, I don't think there are many other cars that can compete for the value. Also, I wouldn't hesitate to daily drive this car. You wouldn't even know it's this powerful until you put the hammer down.

    What have you done in terms of suspension? Do you know what the cause of the low compression was on your previous engine? From what friends have told me running bigger twins, the higher torque puts a lot of stress on the engine. Also If you ran the single turbo setup before PI, what were your numbers and how was the lag with a 6266 in comparison to stock fbo 21psi?

    • @jake_spence
      @jake_spence  5 лет назад

      I just have Eibach Pro-Kit springs for suspension. And I don't know what happened to my old engine, I never opened it up. Torque is definitely harder on the internals than horsepower is. I have never run the single turbo setup without PI. The lag is definitely noticeable, but it pulls much harder up top. At 11psi, I made 450whp on the single turbo setup.

      @@jake_spence My turbos are on their way out, smoking and all, but id like to improve the handling and wheel hop before rushing into PI 6266. However i haven't spent much time researching suspension modifications yet, maybe you have. I see a lot of people going with better springs and shocks instead of coilovers, why is that? I'm considering doing m3 arm kit from ECS, mfactory or wavetrack LSD, stiffer subframe, diff bushings, trans mounts, engine mounts, and BC coilovers. I honestly don't know much about coilovers, spring rates, and all of that and haven't had the time to look into it. Would you recommend something different?

    I had a 2003 540i M-sport manual 4.4L aluminum V8, 6 speed, and wow was it an expensive car to maintain. That was one of the best driving cars I had the pleasure of driving though it was down a bit on power (300hp). Found out it needed the timing chain system completely rebuilt and at 80,000 miles no less (rebuild $5k). I sold it on craigslist for half of what I poured in to the car over 2 years (around $30k with purchase of car) Yikes, so I wanted more power and upgrades for it were crazy (stroker kit to 4.8L / 450-500HP $30k + fuel management ect, ect) Shortly after I bought a 2nd generation CTS-V that is great on power, takes the abuse of being driven hard and is worlds cheaper to maintain. Will not own another BMW out of factory warranty again, but they sure are nice to look at and drive when they are not broken.

      Santos Tuner its been 4 months since you posted this, so maybe you have already made your decision, but if your considering e92 m3, you will be surprised at how slow it is(relative to even a stock turbo fbo 335) and how little potential it has for increased power. If your looking for a handling machine, the m3 is the better choice, however theres not much you can do in terms of big power. Also from my experience the m3 motors have a higher chance of blowing throughout wear and tear, especially if you tune them and drive aggressively. The n54 is the go to for big power but also has its share of problems.

      Thanks! N54, but I'm a little bias. It can handle so much power, as you can see in my latest dyno video. It's a great platform once you're up to date on maintenance.

      Pros:fun to drive and make tons of power
      Cons::the N54 will destroy your wallet in maintenance and modding.

      I make ~420whp with jb4/mhd +fuel it stage 2. on pump E85. Everything else is stock.. I'd start there, but logging is important, keep an eye on what your n54 is doing!
