I’m getting all of my past photos off of my college laptop from ten years ago (it was pre owned so it’s probably 15 years old) which is still running on windows 7 because I’m afraid one day it won’t turn on and was having trouble copying them to my external hard drive. This video helped a lot! It’s copying right now but it isn’t copying shortcuts like it was it’s the actual photos so I’m very hopeful. Thank you for making this video!

1) How do I transfer my pictures being sure that the tags, captions etc will be included? None of the Picasa instructions are ez enough for my brain....hopefully, you will know an ez way.

Jamie you are a great teacher. I never have used the copy paste technique before. Only doing that for documents or copy pasting information printed. I have just drag and dropped when managing files. thank you. .. One thing I would like to be good at managing mp3 files for music. ripping and then transferring to computer and of course back up. Don't want to lose music!!!!! :). I'm a little above a "beginner" with doing basic things.

Thanks, Jamie. You can also highlight all the User folders you want by holding the Cntrl key as you click on each, then rightclick Properties for the group and see the size of the folder group. Then just drag the group to the stick or drive to back up your active user folders, providing you are organized enough to sort your files into the User folders which is the best way to keep track of things.

Thank you so much as very helpful to older guy trying to learn more as my main computer has a flash player problem and I have to restore it but did not want to lose pictures and documents that I had made since the restore point so I was able to load onto a scandisk to save and then can reload onto refreshed computer

Autumn toner Hi, yes I could help you, I wonder which program you are using for scratch animation? When you open and create a new project and then save it do you know where it's saving the file to?? I would need to know more info from you like the name of the exact program your using. It's possibly saving the animation files to it's default location.

solution- click anywhere on the go to the folder where the picture are then press ctrl+a this will hight all file in that folder .press application key on the right hand side of the keyboard looks like a page with a mouse on it then thos will bring a sub menu which you will be able to use arrow keys to navigate then simply press enter when selected.

but during back up some error comes up which not able to save it .also i refreshed the usb but not able to finish the process.
the usb show the file but inside the file is nothing

very useful. i'd actually just bought a 32gb flash drive, and had no idea even how to transfer my 10 gigs of pictures over to it. this video showed my how simple it is (after i fooled around with the useless instructions that came with the sandisk, and a couple of useless youtube videos, that is). i'm a convert.

Can you use the "select all" feature in the file section to transfer and backup all your pictures at one time without clicking and draging them individually. I take a lot of pictures and want to have them backed up since pics cant be replaced?

hi Jamie ive got a big problem here ive tried to transfer all data from window7 to micro sd card ,by using your cut and past method now I only can see song in sd card not the rest of the data.nor even in laptop .I need help please (there was fam photos ,videos and inportent documents :( )
This helped me tremendously. A lot I didn't know. My problem is I have multiples of the same pictures!
Thanks. If you open your pictures folder up and right click in the open white blank section of the folder somewhere you will see that you have the option to sort them by name or type. That will organize your files first. Then you can go through and delete copies. If you select a picture and hold down the shift key or ctrl key then you can keep selecting multiple files at one time and delete the copies all at once. I might do a video on this to show how to do it..

you can try it it might. it won't erase anything from the library if you just copy it and try it.

Greg Dahlen you have to hoover the cursor over the edge of the open window until you see a little arrow pop up. then click the mouse and hold it while you move the cursor.

I understand everything already and do what you shared Jamie. I seem to have a problem on this computer which has Windows 7 where when I open the USb sometimes it doesnt even read it other times it runs this green line which is very slow across the top and nothing happens it just wont let me do it it gets stuck and doesnt move when its in copy Teracopy mode, so confused as to why such a simple task which I have done for years on previous computers so stumped as to what it is. Can you help please?
sounds like it might need replaced. That could be some different issues. You should try a clean format. and make sure your PC is cleaned up and running good. It does not seem to detect it without struggling and very slow at the process.

i jamie, i cut and pasted all my pics and word and adobe documents from my computer to a duracell 2GB usb stick. afterwards i safely ejected the usb stick. then later i inserted again and none of my docs or pics were on the usb stick...................im confused and frustrated as i cut and pasted as oppose to copy and pasted.....................:(

You explain the steps very well. But I have Windows 8 and I am not computer savvy. My screens look nothing like yours. And I cant find a screen that shows the amount of memory used or a My Computer area. Also when in my pics files and I right click there is not an edit button. This is very confusing. I copied all my Pics to my usb flash drive but since then I have add a bunch more to my pc what is the best way to back up my new pics from my pc to the usb drive without having to sort through all the pics to find the new ones to select and copy them
+Classic Video Game Dork Actually this is an awesome question. I run into the same thing sometimes. What I usually do is delete everything from the flash drive and re-copy everything again. I know it sounds time consuming but at least you will be certain that you got everything old and new, or just create a new pictures folder next time and put all new ones in that one. Then you will only have to copy over that folder. Maybe create new folders by date and copy them over as you need to.
Thats what I do is delete everything then just recopy everything over I thought they might have been a better way is why I asked

Would you upload a vid showing how to fix an "Unresponsive Script" warning message? I uploaded the Firebug, but I don't know how to use it to debug it, lol. I thought the Firebug would fix it automatically, but it doesn't. I know a lot of people have trouble with this.
I tried disengaging the Javascript on one site that it always happens on, but then I couldn't use the site, because I got a message Javascript had to be engaged to use the site, which I need to do. And even though you can stop the script, it takes a couple minutes, and you can't get any work done when every time you click a page you have to wait a couple of minutes to get the stop script message. For me it wasn't too low, or soft. You stated to mention requests if you had them, so I was requesting a video on how to fix an unresponsive script message, on other sites, not your video.
I thought someone who knew about computers could make one. I've since fixed my problem, thank God, by restoring, whatever that is, lol. I just followed the link that was on Firefox. During my search for a fix though, I noticed many people pleading for help for the same thing, that's why the request.
Again, loved your video, and for a first one, it was great. The only one I made was for an item I wanted to sell on ebay, and it was terrible. I've seen really good ones, and really bad ones on youtube, and it isn't as easy to make good ones as it appears.

Not recommended you should always reinstall onto a different computer because it’s different hardware its going to use different drivers

It was definitely slow, but good. I was moving pics to a SD card because it did pop up in the removable drives area. I was trying to use a flash drive but, I can't get my flash drive to show up in the removable devices window. I went to manage on computer, then disk management and the flash drive doesn't show up there either. Any ideas?
Sound like it may be damaged or it needs formatted. I would try to see if you can get it to show up in another computer first. If it wont show up then I would think about getting a new flash drive..especially if your trying to save important files to it..you don't want to take any chances..
would you happen to know if Microsoft is definitely ending windows7 today--the 14th--I don't want windows 10 and am in a tizzy as to what to do--I love windows 7
You can continue to use Windows 7 they’re just not going to support it anymore certain parts of support are going to start ending
@@jamiewagner which means our computers are more vulnerable to hackers etc though and I don't want to get hacked...I just was hoping they would be pressured to extend--and I haven't seen anything about it

Hello Need to move my pictures and videos to a flash drive because my computer is not working good anymore and im afraid to lost all of them, I just have a question about how to transfer videos to a flash drive , can I do it in the same flash drive (pictures and videos ) or I need a different flash drive , is the same process as pictures? Please help
It's the same. You can put both videos and pictures on the same flash drive. Videos files are usually bigger in size and will take longer to copy over than pictures.
