  • Installation done at National Tires , Loharka Road - Amritsar ; The owner there Mr Kushal (9779880002)Is a very good friend and helped arrange the tires in advance.😁
Just got our hands on the first jimny in the group.
It is an auto 4x4 Alpha model. After the few basic accessories from Nexa itself. The first thing to go are the stock tires.
Really wished we could have installed the BFGoodrich Ko2 in 235/75/15, but those are nowhere to be found in India currently. So the next best choice was the Goodyear Wrangler AT / Silentrac in 235/75/R15 on the stock wheels.
Probably the most under rated tire in the market currently, already used on a Mahindra getaway we had for a nice long winter Spiti trip. And these don’t disappoint at all. I would 100% place these above the Yokohama Geolander AT G015 , which would be the next best choice.

Just replacing the tires has already changed the look of the vehicle in a very positive way. I’m wondering if a lift that you so eloquently explained in one of your previous videos is now even necessary for non off-road use. Keep up the good work. Internationally a 5.5 J rim is designed for tires with width in the range of 165mm to 195mm. if I have to consider factor of safety of a well engineered alloy i would really not go for an upsize anything more than 20mm on a stock OEM wheel.
At 08:01 in the video you can see the bulge of the tire sidewall. Due to this 40mm upsize on a 5.5J wheel the side wall is already flexing and the tire will distort excessively sideways under fast cornering conditions.

Gypsy fans will stretch their pockets to buy it but it would have found a much wider audience had it been priced slightly cheaper. Best of luck for the mods to be done on upcoming Jimny’s. Waiting.

Great video once again Jaideep veer! I have been doing some tire research for my Gypsy and I think it co-relates with the Jimny as well. Given the budget and the availability for the size 215 75 R15, I have narrowed my options to these 2 tires:
    *Yokohama Geolandar AT G015 (LT)
*Continental CrossContact AT (Also LT I believe)
I think these tires are the most value for money and their availability is also much better than other brands. Personally, I wanted to go for BF Goodrich but they don't come by easily. I was also Interested in Maxxis Bravo AT 980 but their website doesn't mention 215 75 R15 anywhere. Interestingly though, all the tires that I have mentioned above are Light Truck (LT) spec tires.
However, the tires that you have installed are Passenger (P) spec tires I believe. It would be very insightful if you could share your views on why you went with a more road-oriented AT tire in this build. I think a lot of people are unaware of the differences between these 2 types of AT tires, so it could be an interesting topic for another video! 🙌
Also, do let me know what's your take on the options that I have considered. Cheers! 😁

    Excellent info 💯
The Gypsy had a very poor rear door hinge support for it’s rear suspension setup. Maruti slept for 35 years over it…the Jimny with the hinges spaced out vertically and a more compliant suspension should hold up well with a marginally heavier tyre too - a relief.
Not sure if the Gypsy rims, which are very robust, are a direct fit on the Jimny in terms of offset, studspacing and the central hole dia.

    • @TreadTrails
      @TreadTrails  Год назад

So true, hoping this will hold the 31” tire as well.
The gypsy rims are a direct fit as far as pcd and Center bore are concerned, but they might rub with the suspension arms since they are super inset and solid axles always need a little offset in the wheels

What kind of impact are we looking at the car as its more than the recommended deviation? Also can you show a video with tyres turned to be sure it doesn't touch anywhere. Do these tyres require any changes to be made to car apart from speedo calibration? Thanks.

Such an insightful channel this is,jaideep. Kudos. Same as many had commented here,i plan to change my tires upon delivery to r15 75 215. Saw your responses here that you feel its undersized.Still as an amateur in offroading and 4 wheel drives,i plan to stick with same(i dont want my tires to stay out at all).Anything else to be concerned about for 215?
    Also a video with 215 tyres,much appreciated.👍

215 is a very good size. I am just more inclined towards a taller sidewall so prefer 235.
Else 215 has zero issues and will work 10/10

    Hello sir,
Won’t the 235 section tyres bulge on the 5.5 inch width alloys?
According to the data available, a 5.5 inch width alloy can take upto 195 section tyres max.
What are your views about it?
    Thank you.

A 235 section tyre needs minimum 7.5J Rim...
