The total dynamics of the original design will go for a Toss.
    Bigger tyres reduces Torque.
Braking system will have a lot of stress and life of braking system will be reduced.

@@Wisteria-090 some of the disadvantages of Tyre upsizing are
      Reduced Acceleration
      Weighted Steering
      Low fuel effect
      Wrong Speedometer reading
      Driving comfort is reduced
The vehicle manufacturers design vehicle for Comfort, fuel efficiency, dynamics and rules set by the Government etc.

      @@TreadTrails Sir ji Greetings
      Love your reply ♥️
However Using bigger tyres on Jimny , that has low Torque will create havoc on this Under powered Engine.
Had it been a 1600CC GDI ,with
at least 140bhp and 320 NM torque ,this additional power will take the abuse.
Also with bigger tyres, braking efficiency reduces and causes faster wear of both Disc and Brake shoes.
However as i pointed out it's the Owner' call for modifications.
I have a Thar CRDe on which I fitted Tye under chassis guard, made a Metal Rally Cabin.
Added ARC single Carbon fibre Leaf springs , Rhino Pro Shox.
Using Dieseltronics system, without remapping the Original ECM.
Won The Palar Challange Tropy for Stock Category vehicle.

Nice video , you've nicely n honestly explained the areas that require trimming . What you will now have to worry about is the gearing . Take the car on the highway n you'll know ...youll have to downshift frequently to gather speed n the 5th gear is almost useless . If the engine wasnt underpowered you wouldnt have felt the difference as much . I put 31 x 10.5 15s in my gypsy n later had to re- arrange my TC gearing to compensate for these larger tires . The jimny owner will have to wait for the TC gearing reduction mod to launch n be tested .
Also whats the pwr strg inbthe jimny ...electric or hydraulic ? Instead of the strg damper , I tried the RTC strg damper ...it is amazing , gets the wheel centered quickly ...very useful for offroading .
Overall great job 👍👍enjoy your ride

Great video, nice explanation 👍. The stance looks awesome.
But, from whatever I have seen and learnt from international (especially Australian) videos and forums, in Jimny 31" tyres need more than 2"/50mm lift, maybe 70mm or 90mm. And it's evident in the video that the clearance is very less (even after cutting the parts of front bumper and wheel arches) and these tyres will scrap under articulation and full steering lock. The clearance may be enough for on road use (or even on broken, unpaved roads), but while off roading, it seems like they'll scrap.
Please update once you test the rig off road.
And with these heavy and larger diameter tyres, the vehicle must have become sluggish. So what solution you guys have planned for that? Lowering diff ratios, lowered transfer case ratios or re-map? Do share your views on this.
    Happy motoring 👍.

@@TreadTrails for sure you were. Keep up the good work. You cover all the technical aspects with thorough research. Your videos are the most educational that I have found. Tread trails and Ronny dahl are the only channels I have narrowed down to after one and a half year of research.
      Thank you so much.

How will be a 38mm spacer on jimmy stock alloys with 215/75/15 tyres ? will it rub the plastic trims during full flex ?

    • @TreadTrails

I really don’t recommend usage of spacers sir

Jimny is looking good with the stance. As far as rubbing is concerned, I am still a bit skeptical when you hard turn the Jimny when the pressure is on one side. So might need more trimming. The other point which are concerning some Jimny owners; 1) the average doesn’t seem to cross 12 kmpl even while going downhill. 2) the throttle response while climbing uphill seems to be sluggish.3) how were you able to get wheel alignment done as till now people outside and even the service centre people haven’t got the software update for Jimny. Your input would be appreciated. Regards

Did you consider speedometer and oddo meter errors it will have while upsizing ?

    • @1danny2k
      @1danny2k Год назад

Those are irrelevant. More importantly is to lower gearing via tc or crown pinion when upgrading tyres .
In gypsy we always changed the final drive or switched to a rock lobster tc else bye bye clutch plate
