    I am using 215/80 R15 tyres on stock rims, Hankook Dynapro AT2. No rubbing anywhere, not noisier compared to the stock tyres, no modification needed and full articulation on stock suspension set up.

    Putting 215 75 15 vs the stock tire gives you only 0.4 inch larger tire so it teoretically lifts your vehicle about 5 mm. Is it worth it? Why not 225 75 to give you aditional 1 full inch 27,3 -> 28,3 so 1,2 cm of groud clearance more.
    Why nobody mentions this size?

    • @E55BaeMG
      @E55BaeMG 2 месяца назад +1

      tyres wider than 215, rim change is recommended. so 235/225 is still wide and anyone can use it if they want to. However 215/75-15 is the sweet spot for the upgrade.

    Thanks for sharing your view. Just a question on 215/75R15 : HT/AT while the HT will perform better on Highway do you foresee a drop in Comfort (bouncy) if I put AT as the AT looks better and will last longer. My 90% will he regular Highway drive and light off roads 10% (rare)... wish list is AT though. Need your view on Comfort and Mileage between HT/AT.

    • @IndianTrailExplorer
      @IndianTrailExplorer  Год назад +1

      Hi Sanjay, There will be negligible drop in 215 HT Vs 215 AT mileage ( may be 0.5 to 1 Km / Litre in steady driving) and probably you would not feel any change in comfort in highways. Go for AT. However it will be different story if you go for 235. Good luck. Share your mods once you do it. Let us all hope Maruti starts the delivery of Jimny in next few days in Indian roads.

      @@IndianTrailExplorer Thanks for the analysis and recommendation. I have the 215 AT in mind.. which brand is still open not sure if Bridgestone makes AT unfortunately even Mitchelin also stopped. So possible choice could be Conti AS6 or Pirille will stay away from hard-core mud tires as that requirement is not there and they are not suited for HT drives.

      If your budget permits go for BF Goodrich 215 AT. This is the most widely used after market tyre globally. Awesome looks and gives you long life and performance. I plan to do the same once i get the delivery of my Jimny. Good luck.

      Hi Alakesh, We can use Rim or Alloys for the 215 tyres without any issues.Note - Most people might go for Zeta version which comes with Alloys ( as it could be 1.5 to 2 lakhs less than the Alpha model ) and go for after market Alloys and tyre modifications. Good luck.

      Hi Malavika, The tyre comparison can be done in few online sites like tyrewala.com or tyremarket.com. At a high level the AT 215/75 R 15 price of each tyre starts from around Rs.5800/- and goes up to Rs.14000/-. There is a wide range of options available. In the global market one of the most commonly used tyre - AT 215 is from BF Goodrich but the cost is on the higher side. ( If someone has recently bought BF Goodrich tyre - pls comment the latest price).

    What would be price we will get if we sell the stock tyre of Jimny?

    • @IndianTrailExplorer
      @IndianTrailExplorer  Год назад +2

      It would be better to go for exchange while going for after market tyre. If you go to sell the stock tyre, the chances are you might not get a very good deal. The stock tyre even if you sell it after coming out of NEXA showroom, it will be considered as USED tyre unfortunately. The 195 tyre might go for 1500 to 2000 tyre (each tyre ) if you sell it as soon as the delivery of Jimny is taken.

    How about 16 inch alloys. Please share ur views.

    • @IndianTrailExplorer
      @IndianTrailExplorer  Год назад +1

      Hi Travellers,
      Upgrading to a size larger than the existing size of rim is doable but comes with its own complications.
      In simple words
      a. The rims have to be changed.
      b. Bigger tyre would have to be fitted ( 16 inch)
      c. The steering ratio would be changed slightly ( you will have to steer more to turn the wheels)
      d. The speedometer / odometer reading will not be accurate due to tyre upgradation. ( usually there will be error of 9% to 10%).
      e. Car performance at high speeds ( Center of gravity going higher than the manufacturer design of the car)
      f. Lastly there will impact on fuel efficiency.
      Your car will look WOW after the modifications :) . If you are a serious offroader with limited highway driving and do not worry about mileage , can go for larger diameter tyre - 16 inch.
      Hope this helps. Good luck

    215/75/15 tyres need to life kit?

    • @IndianTrailExplorer

      Hi Ramesh Naidu,
      The 215/75 R15 tyres does not a lift kit and can work fine with the stock suspension. However if you want to go for lift kit you can go for it. There will not be any tyre rubbing against the cladding during offroad with 215. However if you go for any tyre bigger than 215 , you will have to definitely go for lift kit.
