I am using 215/80 R15 tyres on stock rims, Hankook Dynapro AT2. No rubbing anywhere, not noisier compared to the stock tyres, no modification needed and full articulation on stock suspension set up.
Good to see a video which provides detailed insights on upcoming and not another comparison video of Thar and Jimny. Good job Indian Jimny explorer keep it coming..looking forward to see more videos.
Thanks for the encouraging words. This motivates to bring more relevant and unbiased content.
Putting 215 75 15 vs the stock tire gives you only 0.4 inch larger tire so it teoretically lifts your vehicle about 5 mm. Is it worth it? Why not 225 75 to give you aditional 1 full inch 27,3 -> 28,3 so 1,2 cm of groud clearance more.
Why nobody mentions this size?
tyres wider than 215, rim change is recommended. so 235/225 is still wide and anyone can use it if they want to. However 215/75-15 is the sweet spot for the upgrade.

🎉🎉thanks a lot for the review. Now I’m decided
Glad I could help!
Zabardast vdo bro keep growing 👍
Thanks Raja for the nice words. This is encouraging. Good luck bro.
Thanks for sharing your view. Just a question on 215/75R15 : HT/AT while the HT will perform better on Highway do you foresee a drop in Comfort (bouncy) if I put AT as the AT looks better and will last longer. My 90% will he regular Highway drive and light off roads 10% (rare)... wish list is AT though. Need your view on Comfort and Mileage between HT/AT.
Hi Sanjay, There will be negligible drop in 215 HT Vs 215 AT mileage ( may be 0.5 to 1 Km / Litre in steady driving) and probably you would not feel any change in comfort in highways. Go for AT. However it will be different story if you go for 235. Good luck. Share your mods once you do it. Let us all hope Maruti starts the delivery of Jimny in next few days in Indian roads.
@@IndianTrailExplorer Thanks for the analysis and recommendation. I have the 215 AT in mind.. which brand is still open not sure if Bridgestone makes AT unfortunately even Mitchelin also stopped. So possible choice could be Conti AS6 or Pirille will stay away from hard-core mud tires as that requirement is not there and they are not suited for HT drives.
If your budget permits go for BF Goodrich 215 AT. This is the most widely used after market tyre globally. Awesome looks and gives you long life and performance. I plan to do the same once i get the delivery of my Jimny. Good luck.
@@IndianTrailExplorer Good to know you're considering BFG as well. I'm going to put it on my Jimny as soon as I get it.
Good luck Joshi Sikha.

Can we use same rim or alloys for 215 tyres???
Hi Alakesh, We can use Rim or Alloys for the 215 tyres without any issues.Note - Most people might go for Zeta version which comes with Alloys ( as it could be 1.5 to 2 lakhs less than the Alpha model ) and go for after market Alloys and tyre modifications. Good luck.
Bro please make a series for making rally racing jimny also
Sure Bro..Will make a video on Jimny mods for rally racing
nice video! do you think there'd be significant road noise due to 215s?
Hi Idli V, There will be difference in road noise with modified tyres in comparison with stock tyre/But it will not be too significant in highways. Good luck.
Thanks for helpful insights.any idea what will be cost of 215 All terrain tyres in south India.
Hi Malavika, The tyre comparison can be done in few online sites like tyrewala.com or tyremarket.com. At a high level the AT 215/75 R 15 price of each tyre starts from around Rs.5800/- and goes up to Rs.14000/-. There is a wide range of options available. In the global market one of the most commonly used tyre - AT 215 is from BF Goodrich but the cost is on the higher side. ( If someone has recently bought BF Goodrich tyre - pls comment the latest price).
Indian jimny will come with tyres that has badging of mud capable tyre
Hi Sunil, Yesterday i saw a review video of Jimny in Chrompet Chennai ( channel name - Birlas Parvai). He does a detailed review of the vehicle including tyres and it is indeed AT tyres in 195 provided by Maruti for Indian Jimny. Good luck.
@@IndianTrailExplorer Yes tyres are AT but it's written on tyre in small letters Mud capable
I spoke to the sales team of Jimny in the Nexa showroom. The tyre provided in the Indian 5 door Jimny is Bridgestone Dueler 195/80R15 H/L. ( where H/L = Highway Luxury ). Good luck.
Kindly make a video on best brands of 215/75
Sure Paras Sindhu. Will try to come up with a video on best brands for 215/75.
Hi Paras, Please check out my latest video on top brands for 215/75. Thanks for your inputs. Good luck.
What would be price we will get if we sell the stock tyre of Jimny?
It would be better to go for exchange while going for after market tyre. If you go to sell the stock tyre, the chances are you might not get a very good deal. The stock tyre even if you sell it after coming out of NEXA showroom, it will be considered as USED tyre unfortunately. The 195 tyre might go for 1500 to 2000 tyre (each tyre ) if you sell it as soon as the delivery of Jimny is taken.
Will the ground clearance change with the 215/75R15 ?
Yes the ground clearance will increase with the change in tyre though marginally. I was able to see the height difference with another Jimny with stock tyre parked next to my vehicle.
❤
How about 16 inch alloys. Please share ur views.
Thanks...
Hi Travellers,
Upgrading to a size larger than the existing size of rim is doable but comes with its own complications.
In simple words
a. The rims have to be changed.
b. Bigger tyre would have to be fitted ( 16 inch)
c. The steering ratio would be changed slightly ( you will have to steer more to turn the wheels)
d. The speedometer / odometer reading will not be accurate due to tyre upgradation. ( usually there will be error of 9% to 10%).
e. Car performance at high speeds ( Center of gravity going higher than the manufacturer design of the car)
f. Lastly there will impact on fuel efficiency.
Your car will look WOW after the modifications :) . If you are a serious offroader with limited highway driving and do not worry about mileage , can go for larger diameter tyre - 16 inch.
Hope this helps. Good luck

225/70R15?😢
Is the stock tyre on the five door Jimny in India All Terrain ? I doubt it.
Hi Anil, I have seen All Terrain tyre as stock for Jimny in other asian countries probably due to the high cost of Jimny in those countries. I did not specifically see in the Nexa showrooms - if the 5 door version is AT or HT. I also feel Indian version will get HT.
@@IndianTrailExplorer definitely HT but all season tyres for India.
Thanks Anil.
Check out the 195/215/235 Jimny tyre challenge video - ruclips.net/video/H8xyIhl5qWU/видео.html
The stock tyre provided by Maruti is Bridgestone Dueler 195/80R15 H/L ( where H/L = Highway Luxury tyres).
@@IndianTrailExplorer, the challenge video is private. By the way, thanks for this short and to the point comparison video, you helped me deciding what’s best for my needs.
Hello , 215/75/r15 bf goodrich looks great but as u said its priced on the higher end.
What other equally good looking but more economical options do we have ?
Hi New Ideas, Filtered for few tyres on criteria of having solid treads for All Terrain and good brand for long life. Here are few alternatives :-
1. JK 215/75 R15 Ranger A/T Tubeless Car Tyre ( Rs.5,910/-)
2. UltraMile UM 4X4 A/T BULL ( Rs.7517 in TyreMarket.com)
Will keep you posted if i find any more.
Good luck.
Apollo has Apterra 215/75 R15 now.
Apollo Apterra seems well built and comes in range of Rs. 5900/- to Rs 6100/-. Thanks for sharing this.

215/75/15 tyres need to life kit?
Hi Ramesh Naidu,
The 215/75 R15 tyres does not a lift kit and can work fine with the stock suspension. However if you want to go for lift kit you can go for it. There will not be any tyre rubbing against the cladding during offroad with 215. However if you go for any tyre bigger than 215 , you will have to definitely go for lift kit.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
No
You are very wrong about the mileage with bigger tyres . . Also you never talked about how the gear ratios n speed will get affected .
Thanks Sanjoy for pointing it out. Can you please help us with the factual mileage details.
What if we up size?
Hi Omkar, Good point. I am assuming your question is to upsize from 195mm tyre which is provided by Suzuki as stock tyre.
Check out my latest video on 3 tyre challenge. How up sizing the tyre can enable the offroading capabilities. ruclips.net/video/H8xyIhl5qWU/видео.html
Good luck.
@@IndianTrailExplorer no R15 to R17 or R18
Hi Omkar, I get your question now. Thanks for clarifying.
Moving from size 15 to size 16 (i.e +1) is still possible but that comes with some drawbacks. However going to current tyre + 2 or 3 (i.e 15 to 17 or 18) ..Will make your car look super sporty but will do more damage starting from
a. This change will be very expensive.
b. Handling of vehicle will become a challenge even in slightly high speeds
c. fuel efficiency will drop substantially,
d. suspension will take a lot of toll over a period of time.
e. Your speedometer will not be accurate
Good luck. Hope this information was helpful.
215/75R15 is best
Thanks MuHd NK. Agree with you.
235 on R15 is BAD idea.
Agreed. I have personally gone with 215 on R15.
