Question for you - How are the 235s treating the jimmy components - Are they causing a lot of strain and wear and tear on supporting components - compared to the 215's . How detrimental are they on road in terms of mileage, sound, ride quality, braking compared to the 215's. Basically, I'm hearing a lot about the cons of 235s in India (with 215s highly recommended) - Your thoughts on this?
Hi 235s are really just for serious offroad use , in the manual you can smell the clutch after a tough obstacle , so you will have a knock effect by fitting 235s on a manual , on the auto you will have to look at gear reduction , so if you dont plan to spend more money go with the 215s👍🏻
myPOV: m/t tyres with the new compounds are well suited for any terrain(blacktop to snow and everything in between), at least a rear locker to be able to move slowly thru challenging terrain rather than having to build momentum with the eLSD, the longranger fuel tank i.e. the TR87 doubling range will make the Jimny suitable for extended overland and offroad travel. Last but not least, keep the weight low & to the minimum.

Hello, thanks for the video. I have a question... with the 235 measure, do you have to cut some plastic from the wheel arch or, on the contrary, does it fit perfectly without modification? Thank you
Hi , 235s need a suspension lift , they do catch when the car flexes on 4x4 trails , 40mm to 60mm suspension upgrade will need to be installed for 235s to work perfect.
I had to cut my wheel arches when i fitter Maxxis Bighorn 764 235. heated up a knife and it cut through it like butter, no suspension lift fitted and she drives fine.
I bought a sprint boost and new air filter kyn its feel better. Do you recomend another upgrade? Got ome 2” 5x139,7 15x8” alloy rims -10 offset 235/75 bfgoodrich.
Awesome, did they re gear for the 235s? I really want an excuse to put 235s It is my daily car but I do only 15% of my driving on highways and I don't have any other accessories that will add extra weight.
Hi , they did not do a gear reduction on the 235's , if you have a manual Jimny the bigger tyres do effect the clutch and on tougher obstacles you could smell the clutch .
You say top speed is limited by the 235 tyres. I quite happily maintain 120kph (albeit with poorer consumption). If I want to maintain 130kph I can, but pay heavily in fuel.
Guys, You’re doing an off-road tyre test- on fairly soft ground…. And you didn’t mention tyre pressures??? Lowering your tyre pressures can (and does) have a significant bearing on your traction. Yes, I realise you were getting caught up on the diff and clearance was (is) an issue. Regardless, lowering tyre pressures will most definitely give you a longer footprint and increased traction. It’s probably the single most important thing you can do to improve your off road performance and it seems you didn’t do that?
Yes I know , I decided not to deflate for the test since the ground was a bit wet , but we still had more than enough traction , and doing high speed tests on deflated tyres could cause a tyre debeading , so also a bit of time constraints. Believe me deflating and tyre pressures I know🤣
You dont need to upgrade the suspension with 215 tyres , but the standard suspension is so soft and very floppy thats why I suggest to upgrade to and aftermarket suspension like the Tough Dog , it really improves handeling and stability

Hi..I am going to install the Old Man Emu shocks and suspension next week which definitely a lift for my jimny. I do a lot lf highway drive and daily driven and some occasional off road...In your opinion what tyre sizes would you recommend?235 or 215? Thanks
I drive a Land Rover Discovery 2 and some of the older Land Rover guys are obsessed with skinny tires and I tell them yeah to an extent as good but to them it's almost like the skinnier the better and I'm like no no a little wider than Factory literally is better. They take the idea of more contact pressure and they forget the fact that something more skinny digs in more because it pushes harder that doesn't mean it's going to get better traction. Something a little wider that's right on top and grips and doesn't take a hole-in-the-ground. Now they're the ones telling me to go 9.5 in wide and I'm doing 11.5 and the Jeep guys are at 12.5 so I think 10.5 or 11.5 is good. But 9.5 is ridiculous. And then they reference old series Rovers and Jeep Willys and I'm like yeah but those can't do crap without lockers those totally suck off road and what they can do good is because they're like just because the good old days had those doesn't mean you can bring them to nowadays and watch them compete without tons of momentum. It's not just a trend something wider than Factory really does grip more. Now if you look at really extreme off-road builds with a lot more horsepower they always go wider because they have the horsepower to move it if skinny was better you wouldn't see quads and ATVs with big fat tires for how light they are you would seem with little tiny bicycle tires. I get the idea that to why this bad but these Landover guys are insane like a mental problem wanting to put 9.5 in wide tires on a 5000 pound vehicle
I think there are a few factors , the skinny tyres , give them higher clearances without the power sapping that a wider tyre can give with the same clearance stats. Main issue is , the Jimny does not have the weight to keep those skinny tyres on the terrain , and the bigger circumferance of the tyre still affect our performance , so not much gain for Jimnies with skinny tyres. So on the Jimny it makes sense that wider gives you better clearance and better grip , with the a lessor effect of power loss. Another factor is flex , the Jimny flexes much more than the loder landies , so we can drive over and through most obstacles with the shorter wheelbase , and keep traction with the extra flex. Nice topic👍
Narrow tyres generally work better for most things. Loads of videos showing this on RUclips if you look. You’ll also get a longer footprint and generally more sidewall deformation with a tall skinny tyre. Fat tyres have a place and can work well too, much far less places and terrains. Can look cool though.

Hi its 215/75R15
Quanto de Psi vocês estão usando no 235/75??
On road 1.8 - 2.0 Bar , gravel roads 1.0 - 0.8 Bar , soft sand 0.6 - 0.4 depending on tyre type.

@@justjimny I got my jimny already , come to watch again !
@@MoCheung Congrats , hope you are enjoying your new toy👌
Cant wait for my one in 4 months! Will be watching your videos for a guide :)
Glad we could help you out.
Can you fit 235 on standard alloys that come with jimny?
Hi Neil yes you can , just know that you do require a suspension lift , otherwise you will have the tyres rubbing while the car is flexing.
Hahaha had a good laugh at that cute Ostrich🤣❤️
Ostrich co-star was a highlight for me 😀
Jip she is very tame and loves people , so when we pop in , she always comes around to say hi🤣
Does 235 slow down the Gymny?
Yes it does , much slower and heavier on fuel.
Thanks for a great and helpful comparison raymond
Thanks for the support👍
does the grey Jimny have manual or automatic gearbox
Both Jimnies are manual.
@@justjimny thanks my friend
I had to cut my wheel arches when i fitter Maxxis Bighorn 764 235. heated up a knife and it cut through it like butter, no suspension lift fitted and she drives fine.
Hi guys my jimny have 235/75 at bfgoodrich with 8” rims offset -10 feels heavier would by better option back to stock rims?
The stock rims are much lighter than the steel rims , and will make a differance in performance and fuel consumption👍
@@justjimny but the 8” are of alloy anyway is better stock rim with 235/75?
@@miguelcanasvergara8770 if they are also alloy , you will have to compare them , but there should not be a massive differance in weight between them🤔
I bought a sprint boost and new air filter kyn its feel better. Do you recomend another upgrade? Got ome 2” 5x139,7 15x8” alloy rims -10 offset 235/75 bfgoodrich.
@@miguelcanasvergara8770 Maybe have a look at a after market exhaust like a Viper , that can also get some power back to your Jimny.
Awesome, did they re gear for the 235s? I really want an excuse to put 235s
It is my daily car but I do only 15% of my driving on highways and I don't have any other accessories that will add extra weight.
Hi , they did not do a gear reduction on the 235's , if you have a manual Jimny the bigger tyres do effect the clutch and on tougher obstacles you could smell the clutch .
@@justjimny Yup its a manual
@@marijanspasenovski362 If its your daily stick with the 215/75R15
@@justjimnyHi , so we get the clutch smell even in 4L on 235s ?
@@kseth6992 Yup
You say top speed is limited by the 235 tyres. I quite happily maintain 120kph (albeit with poorer consumption). If I want to maintain 130kph I can, but pay heavily in fuel.
Hi Vic , very true on the Auto , but if you want to do that in the manual in 5th you will need a perfect flat road surface , loses speed very easy.
@@justjimny Oh believe me, the auto hunts, and I spend a lot of time in third. It would be interesting to drive the manual with big tyres.
@@vicrundle4661 Off Road I loved the 235's but to do a long roadtrip I will stick to the 215s 🤣
As a general rule think of a butter knife when considering tyres, flat side squish, edge side cut 🤔👍
Thanks for the support Brian👍
Believe me deflating and tyre pressures I know🤣
Is the 215s jimny in there is on stock shocks? If no is it good to have new shocks if i use 215s?
You dont need to upgrade the suspension with 215 tyres , but the standard suspension is so soft and very floppy thats why I suggest to upgrade to and aftermarket suspension like the Tough Dog , it really improves handeling and stability
Newbie question. i have Toyota rush which is same as daihatsu terios. It takes 215 65 r16 or 215 60 r17..
Do you think i can use 215 70 r15? Thrre are horrible roads conditions here, lot of rocks, geavel and unpaved roads. Would this size would be better? Or any other size you recommend?
Not sure if the Rush will fit those sizes , maybe go and check with your shop and test them out?
Does the 235 fits in without a suspension lift?
Nope , biggest tyre you can fit without a suspension lift is a 215/80R15 .
Is Koba not a capable driver???
Koba did not have her Jimny very long when we shot the video , so I did a bit of driving👍
Great video cheers mate.
Any chance you got a look at how that tough dog Jimny has mounted the spot lights to the bumper?
Hi David , they drilled holes through the bumper and fastend them with flatbar at the bottom.

Do you have any experience with 225/75?
With stock suspension and bumper, will it rub like 235/75?
Actually, 215 is extremely rare where I live, and I don't want to go with 235.
Thanks in advance 😊
The 225/75 should work great , if you cant get hold of 215/75
@@justjimny 225/75 will it work nicely with stock suspension and bumper?
225 70 15 very close diameter to stock so speedo, rpm minimal different and similar ground clearance. Have heard from a few people similar economy to stock. Can get Coopers, maxxis, bridgestone, michelin etc in that size
where I live 215 has 3 times more assortment and is at least 50$ cheaper.
Hi..I am going to install the Old Man Emu shocks and suspension next week which definitely a lift for my jimny. I do a lot lf highway drive and daily driven and some occasional off road...In your opinion what tyre sizes would you recommend?235 or 215? Thanks
Go for the 215 , better on power and fuel for highway , and you can still have fun off road.

@@300bhpton Remember the Jimny's weight , its much lighter than a Landy.
Very capable little goats.
buen video.

Suzuki indicates that the warranty may be jeopardized if tire changed to 215/75 r15.
In South Africa 215/75R15 still falls within the approved tyre size.
I am more intrested in watching the ostrich, sorry I missed your conversation.
Jip she even distracted me🤣
Para mi,se ha hecho trampa,la suspension del suzuki es mucho mas alta al que le has puesto los 235/75r15.Ponle tambien esas suspensiones al que tiene los 215 /75r15 !!
With bigger tyres and higher suspension the Jimny is a beast offroad , but much heavier on fuel.👍

Hi Jose , the Grey Jimny has 60mm Tough Dog suspension and 235/75R15 tyres on , the green Jimny has 40mm Tough Dog suspension and 215/75R15 tyres on . On the last few uphill test if you look its the ground clearance on the diffs that got the green jimny stuck , the only way to get the diffs higher off the ground is with bigger tyres , so not stupid🤨
