Another excellent episode thanks mate 👍
Brilliant video thanks mate. I have just got a Gen 3 (love it!). All the best for 2025 👍
Has any one installed this and then dash lights showing traction control is on and a steering error showing?
Tough dog jimny shock can be adjusted? How? There’s no clicking option
Thanks for this insight and now 4.5 years later I wanted to confirm the good start decision (thank you) and then ask if there is any update on tyre brand. My 2020 3 door Jimny was fitted from start with BF Goodrich all terrains 215/75 R15 - very happy. Not sure what mileage one should achieve on a set of tyres but I am about to replace at 4.5years and 96 000km (probably replace at 98 000km) - seems very good to me? Not sure what others are getting? We dont do heavy 4x4 but do a LOT of gravel/sand/rock travel - good and bad. So the question - are BF Goodrich still the majority choice? As a side comment many other additions - however the best ones were 80l fuel tank and Tough Dog 40 suspension.... Thank u for any comments/guidance....
Great to hear you got good service from the BFs , the new KO3 AT are out , have not heard alot of comments on thwm , but the Maxxis Wormdrive AT might also not be a bad choice.
@@justjimny thank you for your response...will check both out. Seems KO3's appear to have more flexibility than old BFG and this may improve wet condition situation - all theory so not sure...but thanks again.
Studied the K03's and am really keen to buy them -- only to be told manufacturer is not making the size for Jimny = 215/75/R15 - very disappointed. I wonder if anyone has better information re the KO3's in my size? Would appreciate any input - otherwise I guess I will go back to KO2's - which are now on 98000 km's....
Question for you - How are the 235s treating the jimmy components - Are they causing a lot of strain and wear and tear on supporting components - compared to the 215's . How detrimental are they on road in terms of mileage, sound, ride quality, braking compared to the 215's. Basically, I'm hearing a lot about the cons of 235s in India (with 215s highly recommended) - Your thoughts on this?
Hi 235s are really just for serious offroad use , in the manual you can smell the clutch after a tough obstacle , so you will have a knock effect by fitting 235s on a manual , on the auto you will have to look at gear reduction , so if you dont plan to spend more money go with the 215s👍🏻
Its the biggest rubbish out there. Its NOT the best.
Everybody can have their opinion , had my Tough Dog in for 100k km and still very happy , its a great all round suspension on and off road.
Guys, I am not happy with mine, 2024; 1 month old. I use it on tar roads and the Jimny hates it and then tries to kill me. Everyone says a lot about the car and how awesome it is, but they actually say nothing. Tell me how to keep the car on tar roads and highways. What parts need changing? This is a commuter which is also used on the sand. Please you experts, help me with good working advice. I am never going to use the car for serious off-roading. I would like the problem fixed.
😂 Dude. Just about every review of this car over the last 4 years told you this. There lots of options if you prefer to keep to tarmac. Alternatively get a Duster if you want a little bit of both with limitations on the rough stuff..
@@ErrolSteyn you are right; there are kits. problem is that Suzuki voids the warranty if one makes changes in any way. I am seeing Suzuki tomorrow to try and get approval for the changes I want to make. Off-road, the car is pure magic, no complaints there.
@@36blackdog All the best. Hope you can work something out.
Get decent tyres a suspension kit upgrade and its alot better on road , remember its a 4x4 first.
@@justjimny Yes, I did not know that, I thought that it can be used at highway speed. I have started by changing the shocks, which improved the handling very much. Next will be the springs and the 215 all terrain tires. But it is still a lovable car..
4:03 As I didn’t want a lift kit I got the Ironman shocks plus the steering damper. - It’s performance was just what I wanted!
Glad you are happy with it.
I went for 3 heavy duty roof rails from Rhino total weight 6kg vs 30kg roof rack (front runner ) a far better solution especially when adding a 40kg roof tent.I disagree do it with rails not a additional unnecessary 30kg front runner rack. I did 1000km through mountains on highways offroad it was unnoticeable only fuel consumption increased by 1liter/100km . Problem is some of these tents are not lightweight weigh 70 kg plus 30 for rack thats 100kg on roof vs my solution 46kg . Do it wisely.
It’s always good to consider the weight before adding things to the roof
i got my Jimny, brand new about a month ago and it is standard. The car wants to kill me, I cannot take it out on the highway because that is looking for trouble. The suspension changes are ridiculously expensive and I am not able to get to that money. I am not so happy with the purchase, I expected it to be dual purpose, but it turns out to be a serious off roader. I am still deciding what to do with the car, but for now, it will stay in my garage at home.
Mate if you find it too much trouble on the highway stock, I don't think a lift kit is going to help you. No amount of suspension work is going to make it feel like a sedan. A lift kit raises its centre of gravity and makes it marginally more susceptible to cross winds. You can offset this quite a bit with a steering damper and good shocks, but it's never going to make it drive like it was built for the highway. I commute on winding, hilly, 100km/h roads in my gen3 Jimny (without a lift kit or steering damper) and I have to be switched on 100% of the time so I don't go flying off into the bush or get bumped into oncoming traffic by a pothole or gust of wind, but I've always driven cars like this so it doesn't bother me. My understanding is the Gen4 is a lot better, but it's still not like driving a regular car.
Look at the Koni shock upgrade.
@@ccmmrrnn True, I have gone a more standard way, I have replaced the shocks with KYB gas-rider. It made a huge difference and it almost drives like a car. I had to go this way because the lift kit is very expensive and Suzuki approved my modification.
@@36blackdog I'm surprised simply changing the shocks made such a difference to a brand new Jimny, but I'm glad to hear that it has. Were they the Excel-G model?
@@ccmmrrnn Yes, that is correct. There are other KYB options, but they are not available in our country, like the adjustable, which is what I really wanted.
Thanks for this video. It helped me as I am in the process of buying a Jimny. Keep it up
I am glad the video was helpful.
Плохие колори в Джимников. Повинен бути джимник яскравий колір.
Wish they did it in Orange👍🏻
❤ how much difference in 215 size and 235 the size mileage ?
I did mention the consumption at the end of the video
My English is not good 18.9 km per liter?
215's good for city and light 4wding while 235 good for more extreme 4wding. If you do allot of city driving and or towing Id stick with the 215's
Yep, the 215 will be better on fuel consumption
What are your thoughts on the roof racks? I see you are rocking one. With the dynamic load capacity of the roof being 30kg (Allegedly, I even saw that number come up in the genuine Suzuki accessories catalog), I am quite worried about getting a full roof rack in there as it basically eats the whole capacity by its self. Thinking on getting load bars as it is basically 1/4th the weight, but obviously they are not as practical as a rack. What has been your experience?
In later videos you see I went with a half ack.
Please show tyre tread/patarn & demo in snow, mud ,sand and rock.
Its a bit difficult to get to snow in ZA
I am more intrested in watching the ostrich, sorry I missed your conversation.
Jip she even distracted me🤣
Australia gets Bridgestone dueller 195/80/15 HT as standard. I'm using those tyres on a vw caddy. My cousin put 225/75r15 MT on her Jimni and I got her standard tyres for free. I needed new tyres and wanted more ground clearance so the taller tyres are great for me. I'll put All Terrains on the van next. My cousins Jimni feels like shit onroad with her new tyres but it's a great offroad option. Me personally I'd buy a set of steel wheels for the mud terrains for offroading on weekends and keep the standard for onroad, or put All Terrains on
225/75r15 mud terrains are great offroad but not onroad. If you mainly use the vehicle onroad stick with a size closer to OEM
Would 235 BF At's work with the 40mm Tough Dog suspension, or would 225's be a better choice? Or should I replace my 40 mm with the 60 mm? I just got the 40 mm installed and have the 215's for tires but I would like a little better off road performance so I am considering a little larger tire size. I do not however want to start over with a new suspension if not necessary since it may be quite costly but I appreciate your recommendations... Thanks for your great Videos Raymond!
Jip the 40mm will work with 235s
Would 235 BF At's work with the 40mm Tough Dog suspension, or would 225's be better? Thanks for your great Videos Raymond!
Yes it will
Hi, I want to know using tough dog on highway and there’s uneven pavement or patches road, is the steering feed back harsh? Because tough dog is harder than the original suzuki.
It performs much better than the stock suspension in these conditions.
@@justjimny is hard or comfortable ride?
@@justjimny is it more confortable than the stock in normal road, highway dan speed traps?
So many jimmy’s with the same colour…😂😂😂
Yeah, that Toyota colour. My cousin has one.
It's classic. That colour looks amazing in outside photos
The right size comparison should be with the 235/70R15, no??!
Hi , the 215/75R15 is still my pick for best all round performance and best consumption👍🏻
@@justjimny yes, that size has the less amount of interference, from the original. In terms of overall size.
Very capable little goats.
How about 16 inch rims? Any comments ?
You will have to look at a tyre size calculator and compare 15 inch rims with 16 inch rims and the size of tyres you want to fit , stay as close to 215/75R15 .
15 seconds 0-100 km, in dirt terrain??? how much does it do on road???
On road its a bit faster , since its in 2x4 and has more traction.
May I know if there is a L bracket securing the snorkel to the body? I can’t see clearly.
Yest there is one bracket that secures it to the a pillar.
Nice video , what tyres are those ? The type of tyre does play a key role when dropping pressures n de-beading. I have 31x10.5 maxxis 764 , I take the pressure to 0 and the side wall is still strong enough to support the weight of my zuk . I wouldn't dare try this stunt with a HT tyre.
Its BF Goodrich AT KO2
Hey Ray, Good video. Could you comment on how good are 225/70/r15 tyres on the jimny, with stock suspension.
Hi , the 225 is no much bigger than the 215 , so you should be ok with them on stock suspension. The stock suspension is a bit spongy in my experience so upgrading just the shocks will improve the ride alot.
What happen to tthis channel? no new videos for months
Why did u stop makin videos mate?😢
Hi just on a bit of a break my day job is really keeping me busy at the moment.
I am really looking forward to seeing your competent and informative videos, in the near future. Keep up your great content 👍
nice video sir.what is the size of your rim and tire?
Hi rims where 15 inch and tyres 235/75
Hi Sir. Kindly suggest me the tyre upgrade for Jimny for better Fuel Efficiency. Because I will use it mostly in Highways Only.
If you are looking for good fuel consumption stick to the original tyre size.
Hi Raymond, you may have had this question before and apologies if I missed it. Overhead console & two-way radios - what do you recommend? Thanks for the channel and eagerly awaiting more on the new 5-door!!
No problem at all , Toug Dog or Opposite Lock does have a nice roof console availible for the Jimny , that has space for a radio and handset , but that does come at a cost , and you will need an anual license for the radio. The other option is Vlakvark radios no license required but only for short distances.
When are we getting videos of the 5 door Jimny?
Still a bit busy with my day job , but as soon as I have a gap I will post my review.
Now I'm "enlightened", much appreciated, thank you Sir.
Glad I could help
The "Steep" hill going up is like my driveway...Honestly you just need better clutch control. Also, the way the other guy was going down the steep descent looked like he knew nothing about driving off-road.
Uphill and downhill looks very flat on video , so I hope if you have a driveway like that , all your cars need to be 4x4.
only talking talking
How else would I get the information to you?
I would love watch it again with both cars using the same tire. Looks like the manual is using a more offroad capable one.
Both Jimnies had All Terain tyres , it wont make such a big differance in my opinion.
Absolutely worth every cent!
Still think at the price its worth it.
Hey man, I miss your videos, what's up?
I have been a bit busy with our move to the Western Cape , and with that an increase in the amount of travwling I am doing for my day job. So getting time to shoot videos and editing them has been reduced alot. As soon as things calm down again , I will do more videos. Thanks for the support👍🏻
@@justjimnythat's so great to hear! I have recently bought a jimny and your videos and advice a superb! Thanks for all the great content and can't wait to you have time to make more!!
@@countless0426 Thanks for the feedback 👍🏻
I believe throttle pedal can damage on Engine badly and it will reduce life of Engine. Am I right?
It has no effect on the engine , the Jimny has a drive by wire system on the throttle the only thing the controller does is change the sensitivity of the throttle.
What was the stock size in your jimny?
Stock the Jimny was on 195/85/15
Has anyone tried the Apollo 225/70/15
Have not heard of any reviews
The very tyre i am about to order and try
mate .. how about 225/75 any mod needed ? lift kit or cut wheel arc ?
Hi , 225 wil work with no issues on standard suspension , no cutting or trimming required.
