    Hi I have a question. I'm looking at buying a 4x4 and thinking of buying a suzuki jiminy. My question is why did you buy a jiminy and not a second hand fortuner 4x4 taking into account that space isn't in the equation.

      I actually had a look at a FJ cruiser , but main consideration was reliability , parts and repair costs , and how good the consumtion was. A main factor as well was safety , since I live in Gauteng Toyotas are always on the hijacking and theft lists , and I would like to have my 4x4 for a few years and not a few months🤣. I can park my Jimny anywhere and without worries know it will be there when I get back , cant say the same about any Toyota or any double cab bakkie.

    Hi there,
    I am getting my Jimny soon and will uograde the suspension.
    Question: Do you ever use the Tough Dog ability of adjusting the shocks? Or is it just a gimmick, or maybe just too much effort? Thanks, Francois

      Hi Franz , the shocks I have are not adjustable , but the ones that are is a bit tough to reach the adjustment knobs , but it does make a differance in how hard or soft the shocks are.

    Hi, Ive got a new Jimny on order, my first 4x4. I am a bit confused about the high and low. Is this correct: Generally speaking I think I want to be driving in 2WD on bitumen and easy gravel/dirt roads, then if I come across snow or mud, rocky gravel, but can still go fast, I switch to 4High and if very steep and slow then 2 low. Can I go into 4H while the car is moving or do I have to stop and then change? What happens if I drive on bitumen fast while in 2L? Thanks. Oh and what is overdrive?

      Hi HAL , you have 2Hi , 4Hi and 4Low. 2Hi is for normal driving on tar roads your Jimny just has drive on the rear wheels , 4Hi has the same gear ratio as 2hi but the front wheels are also pulling , 4Low reduces your gear ratio providing slower speeds but more power to all 4 wheels. Never use 4hi or 4low on surfaces with too much grip , this will damage your transfercase . 4hi only on gravel and sand and in your case snow. 4x4 obstacles and thick sand 4low is the way to go. Overdrive is an option on some auto cars that makes the revs lower at highway speeds , Jimnies have never had this feature though.

      @@justjimny do you have to stop to change to into one of the 4x4 modes or can you change while moving?

      @@HAL-vu8ef According to the manual , you can swift from 2hi to 4hi while driving at low speeds , but I preffer to stand still while I am shifting between 2hi , 4hi and 4low. Just a precaution for extra wear and tear on the drivetrain in my opinion.
