The concept of mix-minus is something most folks are not familiar with if they have not done podcasts for too long or worked in radio. I have been using the Lightning to headset adapter and then by using a TRRS to TRS dual female adapter (mic and headphone split) I can feed in the mix-minus from the aux feed. Only issue I found is using a line level output from the mixer to a mic level input on the phone is a problem so I put a line to mic adapter in line to feed the proper level to the phone. I'll try this solution since it seems to have solved that last issue somehow.

Thank you for providing this video! This was very detailed and educated me on how to properly use my new soundboard! I'm a rookie podcaster that was looking for solutions to take a live phone call for my listeners to participate, but instead went with Twitter Space where I could have more than one person interact. The only way for me to host a recording with Twitter Space is through the phone and figured it would be the same concept as taking a live phone call. I just recently recorded my latest episode with live recording from Twitter Space and it worked perfectly. Still need to adjust my audio levels a little bit, but it was what I needed to move toward my goal. I can not thank you enough!

Phenomenally great video guy! I plugged the TRRS end into my desk phone using Google Voice and noticed none of my sound effects like pitch change, echo and delay get passed to the caller. When I plug the TRRS into my cell phone the sound effects get passed through to the same person's cell phone I called. Do you know if Google Voice and other services "normalize" audio back to something unaltered with affects? Thanks man!

Hello Jordan, absolutely LOVE your tutorials, they have helped tremendously. Setting up my MG10XU, but I ran into a problem or missing a step. Have gotten the phone hooked up etc. my question is, caller can hear my mic fine, but how can I play other audio from my ‘computer’ that they can hear? For example, I’m a voice over artist, and I’m on the phone with my director and want to playback a file that I just recorded on my DAW. Thanks in advance for any help.

As soon as I upgraded my mic to a SM7B I started to get what I can only describe as electrical interference.

I have this set up on my Behrninger X2222USB but what I've noticed is if I have my Condenser mic panned left and my cell phone input panned right I'm getting a crackling on the right with some strange breakthrough of my mic signal coming back in through the phone channel. If I put them both in stereo it isn't as bad but there's definitely some sort of voltage spike or audio issue. I'm contemplating going to a line to mic adapter of some sort.

Hey, Jordan and folks at Ketner Creative. Currently using this setup with my MG10XU but experiencing some issues. I find that while the input from the phone call arrives perfectly fine, the AUX out to the caller is super distorted and crackly. I tried using the stereo output to the phone and the callers that I tested all said that the sound was perfectly fine. Why might that be? Do I need to route the audio through an audio interface like an iRig first? Uncertain why the audio varies beyond volume from the aux out to the main out. Any insight you might have would be super appreciated. Thanks for all the great content and keep up the good work!

I have the Yamaha MG10XU. I bought all the cables you recommended and connected them the way you suggested. I see the mixer is receiving the audio but it is not shooting the audio through the speakers (headset). When I connect my phone and put music I can see the bars moving when I raise the level of the channels 5/6 but that audio is not coming to my headset. If I record I can hear the music and my mic in the recording but not live.
    Any suggestions?
The main idea why I want this is to have a live podcast where I can receive phone calls from people. In some causes when I am interviewing a person and public wants to ask him or her a question.

Is that what's needed for Conference calls? I have a large break room at work where people online in Teams can't hear the presenter. The setup is joining from a laptop and putting an external mic up next to a karaoke speaker but the sound quality is so bad (sounds like they are miles away from the mic).
I wanted something where the mic they talk into not only projects audio through the speaker but projects audio through the computer too (similar quality if they were wearing a headset in an office).

I'm not quite sure why you didn't split the TRRS jack into 2 jack female plugs, 1 for mic 1 for stereo output. Such a split cable can be found on amzn as well. Then all you have to do is to connect 1 TRS-RCA cable for the input in the mixer, and a mono or stereo mini jack cable to the aux output of the mixer. Why do we need a special cable and an XLR connector?

I can't find a low price solution for this.. I'm trying to get a device that simultaneously transmits and receives, duplex transceiver that has ports for external mic input and audio output that sits between my audio interface and smartphone that I Bluetooth connect to my smartphone (just like an earbud) but that allows me to tie the smartphone into my audion interface for wireless Bluetooth phone calls. I know how to do it hard wired with an attenuator, and made a video on that. I don't know why there is not a fairly inexpensive device that is seen by the smartphone as something resembling Bluetooth earbuds with mic, but the device instead of being a Bluetooth headset is a device with ports for sound and mic. I know it's easy to build, but I don't want to do it. I'd prefer to buy the device, without spending $700 for a Rode Procaster II. I have all kinds of interfaces and just need the Bluetooth adapter that does that one function in the Ride Podcaster II. Hate spending that much for one little function.

Unless you have a very unique microphone, it won't hurt any dynamic mics to have phantom power turned on. Is there a Bluetooth device that can transmit and receive signals at the same time (full duplex)? Here is the scenario, I have a Bluetooth headset with a mic and need to connect to my analog audio mixer wirelessly. I want to hear (monitor) the audio and at the same time I want to connect the mic (transmit) to one of the channels. TIA
