Your video was fantastic and because of you I was able to create video on my Android phone using your recommended connections out from my external mixer into my phone (using Open Camera). My vocals, guitar, and backing tracks recorded so well. Here’s a question for you. I realize it’s beyond the purpose of your video here , but doesn’t hurt to ask. I uploaded the resulting video I created to RUclips. When i played it on my flat screen with 5.1, it only played on my 2 front speakers. I would go with the Yamaha. Another viewer commented with some usb issues with the Mackie. The 4 USB inputs, are seemingly out of order to what a phone can actually send. So you're best with a 2/2USB mixer like the Yamaha.
@@kettnercreative correct, but also many people are complaining about the USB signal on the Yamaha being weak on computers. Will this issue be also applied when using a phone?? Kia ora Jordan, great presentation. I went through this whole process last year during lockdown and discovered that the Apple Lightning input on my 13 Promax does not provide true stereo LR recorded audio. Panned music once recorded is reproduced in mono LR combined. Can you confirm this from your observations?
Hello from Crete Greece. I notice that right after the phone adapter you plugged a trs plug, although you say it is a trrs adapter. Why don't you use a TRRS splitter, to trs phone and trs mic?
Thanks. A very informative video. I have a very similar mixer to you, the MG12XU. Just one question - if I use the camera adaptor with my iPhone is it possible to connect the output from the mixer to the phone and using the other lightning port the outpput from the phone to a line-in input on my mixer at the same time? I want to get callers into my radio show and for them to hear the monitor output and converse with them via a mic plugged into my mixer.
Hi, great video. When I try mixer USB out to USB-C in on android device, I can hear mic loud and clear and music from backing track loud in headphones. but, when record video on the device, the mic volume is fine but music is barely heard?
I was looking for a recommendation on how to connect my iPad Pro to my mixer and out to my speakers. I have watched several of your videos and have not seen this connection yet only in the opposite direction. I have tried to do this connection with a regular iPad Pro adapter and found that the adapter would get hot and eventually stop sending any audio to the mixer.
For the Audio Interface option at the end, would it be possible to get the sound from your powered usb hub to your phone AND computer simultaneously? Also, if you had a trrs to trrs cable and an adapter (1/8th inch to 1/4), could you use a headphone out to get your sound into your phone for a video camera app?
Cool! I use a Focusrite pro 40 for 8ch studio sound (full drum kit +) and a Roland GO mixer to stream audio via USB to my Android 10 phone. (stereo out via my 16ch mixer). The problem is.. The limiter on the Go mixer, and bandwidth the phone can handle, esp for live streaming. It's super hard to dial in a full sound, I have to roll off bass a lot, and turn up mids tops. It's kinda weird to do this, and very hit n miss. I'll try a direct cable connex, but line to mic level probably is worse. Tried the irig too, about the same deal. The smaller 2ch Focusrite interface might actually work for me, given that the pro40 is optical out only. So frustrating!
Is it possible to connect from the headphone port on the Yamaha mixer directly to the iPhone? I’m confused if you would still need the IRig? Reason because the overall sound quality coming out the Yamaha headphone jack is better than the line outs. So want to send the headphone quality to the iPhone.
Will there be much of audio quality difference if we connect... Android phone - Bluetooth receiver - connected to the mixer via RC or trs3.5 mm to dual 6.5mm jacks into the mixer? Compared to direct phone to mixer via cable

All I need to do is plug my phone USB C into the the mixer USB B in the back... Obviously mics into the mixer channels to record the audio... Not sure if this is a question or im asking if I'm doing this correctly? Thank you...
If mono input is okay and price is no object then you can use the ISOPODCI from Whirlwind to interface between your phone's TRRS jack and your mixer's IO.
Why my phone samsung s22 not recording loud when I connect mixer( Yamaha ) from the USB connector to my phone type c. Please can you solve the problem.??
I'm using method one, but with regular TRS, as I don't need mic functionality. For house music in-between sets, I play Spotify on Android -> USB to 3.5mm -> 3.5mm to L&R 1/4" jacks -> Stereo inputs on Korg MW-2408 mixer. The problem I'm experiencing is with songs recorded in the 70s or earlier, certain vocals and instruments are missing. No problem with 80s or later. Korg support believes there is a center channel audio getting dropped. That makes no sense to me because 1, its a song, not a movie so there is no center channel, and 2, why would anyone encode older recordings with a center channel?
Hi! I'm thinking of buying a DAC to be able to hear music with MQA levels on my iPhone (using Tidal) any recommendations? I have a pair of DT 770 Pro 250 OHM and I think none of the DACs that I saw online will give me enough power. Should I just buy a different pair of headphones? Thank you!
15:07 since that's the case, what if our Audio Interface is the one that has the USB and power connection combined together as one? Does that mean that we can't use that Audio Interface and we need one that has separate connections of USB and power?
I seem to have a problem with the pro movie app not connecting to my audio interface adapter. I’ve hooked up everything as you said using my interface like the Irig stream you have to my iPhone and installed the app, but it doesn’t seem to show up in the app. The interface I use is a Saramonic SR-AX101 Device. I also have the BeachTek DXA-2T which is similar to the Saramonic Device. I use both of them to 2 of my canon cameras to the mixing board and it works perfectly fine. Not sure why it’s not connected or showing up on the app. Would these 2 devices work with the pro movie app or do you have any suggestions. Thanks
I need to do mix minus on iphone calls. So I need to take a feed of caller into mixer & send an aux feed of audio from mixer to caller. What do I need to make this work?
Thank you so much for presenting all the options. I am a fan of simplicity, so using iPhone + Lighting USB adapter is my choice. I really want to use the built-in camera to go with that setup. I wish it had an audio indicator so that I know im getting sound from the correct input source. Does anyone know if it drops when I close or switch to a different app then come back?
Update: I’m using iPhone 12 ProMax with latest iOS software and doesnt have an issue with the built-in camera. Plug & play works great. However, the line-leveled sound from mixer going in the iPhone is low. I tried to adjust the mixer master volume but did not help. Is there a way to boost this signal?

Thanks Jordan, for this informative video! My phone is a Galaxy S22, which only has USB-C output; like the iPhone, looks like the 3.5 mm audio out is now extinct! :) Last month I used a USB-C to USB-B cable to connect to my Mackie ProFX6v3 mixer which has USB. It was interesting that I could only hear the audio from the phone via headset and the sound would not flow into the main mix into my PA speaker! Hmmmm, I thought, what gives??? Then I realized: USB channels 1-2 flow into the Mackie to be monitored via headphones, and only USB channels 3-4 can go to the main mix. This can be easily manipulated on a laptop but a cellphone has no control over USB channels. If anyone knows of how to get around this, do post a reply! I know of one gadget which I will not spend $53 on, is a Peavey USB-P. Takes the audio from a laptop's USB port, and sends it via XLR outputs into two XLR inputs of the mixer. But if your mixer only has 2 XLR inputs, you're out of luck as regards vocal and guitar! :) Someone told me though that it sends out superb high-fidelity audio. Oh by the way, I've used 3.5 mm audio out into a split cable into one of the non-XLR inputs of mixers for years. Currently what I do is use 1Mii Bluetooth Audio receivers (a good one which I use is the 1Mii B06 Plus, $29 at Amazon) instead of cables. These days Bluetooth 5.0 and up really has great sound.
Interesting, I've used the Mackie in Garageband on an iPad before, but you're right, it's built for multi-track recording and perhaps they got things out of order. Have you tried emailing Mackie at all?
At last! I've found someone else with a Galaxy S22! I'm connecting my mixer to audio interface then out of there into a trs to trrs adapter then a trrs to usb c into my android. The sound I am getting is terrible! It's coming and going and sounds almost phased at times. When I use my old S10 with the 3.5mm jack I get a great sound perfectly balanced but the camera is not as good for streaming. I don't want to have to put my camera into OBS and stream audio from a different source! Can anyone help!
@@scotscub76bro why are u using a audio interface in the middle? Just pull out any 1/4 unbalanced from your mixer stage it down to 3.5mm trs and then plug in the trs to trrs adapter then connect type c to 3.5mm trrs adapter. But anyways its been 2 months have you found any fix for this?

The RCA output also works with TRS Cable
I have the great Yamaha MG10XU and would like to know how to RECORD to my iPhone. I already have Yamaha’s MG REC & PLAY app installed.
The last time I tested it, the camera adapter will only let you charge through the other lightning port.
OK thanks. Is there another way I can achieve similtanious two way operation then ?@@kettnercreative
Hi, great video. When I try mixer USB out to USB-C in on android device, I can hear mic loud and clear and music from backing track loud in headphones. but, when record video on the device, the mic volume is fine but music is barely heard?
you are awesome!!!!!! thanks a million for this video. very detailed and clear!!!
It's exactly the same as the phone. You can either use the headphone output or the USBC method.
Nice seeing (and hearing!) the awesome Neat King Bee II in this video. Just found your channel and am really enjoying it.
Awesome, thank you!
Just recently found your channel. LOVE IT
Thanks. I have the same board and have been wondering how to do this for a while now. Works great
Is it possible to connect from the headphone port on the Yamaha mixer directly to the iPhone? I’m confused if you would still need the IRig? Reason because the overall sound quality coming out the Yamaha headphone jack is better than the line outs. So want to send the headphone quality to the iPhone.
Hi there! Can you make video of set up for TikTok so you can hear both way and I want to play music from iPad through iPhone thank you.
Solid video. I’m ready to step it up with sound quality.
Love your vids, you leave no stone unturned!! Thank you!
Will there be much of audio quality difference if we connect... Android phone - Bluetooth receiver - connected to the mixer via RC or trs3.5 mm to dual 6.5mm jacks into the mixer? Compared to direct phone to mixer via cable
Where can I find the app? I just want to make sure I download the right one
Very good FINALLY been looking for a while!
Best channel on RUclips
Thank you for this useful video
Great vidio! So i have the Behringer Xenyx QX2222USB... My question is, I want to record our jam sessions via video on my Android S23ultra... All I need to do is plug my phone USB C into the the mixer USB B in the back... Obviously mics into the mixer channels to record the audio... Not sure if this is a question or im asking if I'm doing this correctly?
Thank you...
Thank you and I am now subscribed to your RUclips channel and this video was very helpful to me thank you so very much.
If mono input is okay and price is no object then you can use the ISOPODCI from Whirlwind to interface between your phone's TRRS jack and your mixer's IO.
Thanks for the comment, I haven't seen this before. The price isn't awful if you're using it professionally. I'll take a look at it, thanks.
can you use that set to talk and receive calls
Why my phone samsung s22 not recording loud when I connect mixer( Yamaha ) from the USB connector to my phone type c. Please can you solve the problem.??
How did you get sound out of the mixer? I didn't see any xlr or 1/4 " connections to go to speakers
Best explanation ever! Great job!
Thank you!
what kind of software that i need to download to check if the mixer is connected to iphone? thanks!
15:07 since that's the case, what if our Audio Interface is the one that has the USB and power connection combined together as one? Does that mean that we can't use that Audio Interface and we need one that has separate connections of USB and power?
Já chego dando o like, from Brasil
Thanks
Best ever. Covered almost everything.
Very good, simple clear top shelf balanced line out!
I need to do mix minus on iphone calls. So I need to take a feed of caller into mixer & send an aux feed of audio from mixer to caller. What do I need to make this work?
what cable should I use if I want to connect the IrigStream to the Mixer for longer than 10ft distance?
Is it a stereo sound result that will cameout to phone? example on tiktok live singing? Coz i don't want it mono
Very helpful video thank you so much 🎉
Thank you so much for presenting all the options.
@@hoang83vu did you find a solution, hopefully yes. I'm stuck 😅
@@melodology-5383 Somewhat depending on what you are looking for. I am currently using the iPhone + Lighting USB adapter method. The built-in camera app works instantly upon plugged in.
@@hoang83vu thank you for your answer, yes it should be working fine, but regarding the volume, are you getting high volume or low? In your last comment you said that you are getting very low volume, I just want to know if you found a solution?. Basically I'm planning to do RUclips \ Instagram live streaming using the same setup you have (iphone 12+ and the Yamaha MG mixer+ lighting camera adapter)
Im really hoping for your advice
Thank you and sorry for bothering
Greetings 👋👋
@@melodology-5383 The output volume is about 7db lower than normal. However you can turn the gain up to +10 to make up for it . For audio output measurement, I use a seperate app call ProMovie that has the built-in audio meter feature. That way you can check the input one by one and adjust its audio level to your linking. Cheers!!
Thanks for this high quality video. Well done
what cable should I use if I want to connect the IringStream to the mixer for distance longer than 10ft?
Can you use phantom power for condenser microphones with option 3 & 4? I am using Allen & Heath ZED FX 10. I am connecting all to 2 Bose L1 compacts. Wish to use my IPad Pro for RUclips Karaoke @ home. I have been using CD player…Jeanne
I have a question … i have a rc 505 mk2 loop station which i connect to my macbook and to use a daw on it. I would like to get the audio directly to the iphone though… is there a way i could do the usb connection like you showed in option 2 ? The rc 505 only has 1 usb dock though so I am not sure how this could work…
Can i use the Mackie MDB-2P Stereo Passive Direct Box instead of the Radial Pro D2? Is it going to be the same output?
Thank you for the knowledge
Can you connect guitar pedals through the mics to the phone?
Awesome tutorial. Thanks!
i have question, how to send audio from mixer to smartphone via wireless(not wired) to recording/live streaming
Can I use a 4 Channel Audio Interface Usb Mixer Board?
I used a USB output cord and using ProMovie but the sound was incredibly quiet. Do you know why?
They have the pro movie recorder app and just the pro movie app, which one of the two please?
11:00 can I do live broadcast on TikTok, IG or FB with these set ups?
What is the best way to use my studio monitors separate from iRig being hookup to my phone.
I want to be able to have my iPhone on TikTok and my studio monitor separate, so that I want adjust the volume on my Tik Tok when turning up my studio monitors. Please help
Can I do this to get audio output on zoom especially fr Funeral ??
@Kettner Creative Jordan, I am completely convinced that a phone sends out USB channels 1 and 2. Just have to accept that I guess 🤷
Hello Sir, Is there any way to send Audio Mixer output To the Phone while video recording without using wires or connectors.....i.e. via any wireless device.
Very helpful... thank you.
