I grew up next to Lake Lewisville right in the flight path of that airport. When it was cloudy, and the wind was coming from the south, those planes would sometimes fly over low enough to rattle the walls.

Who would have ever thought back in 1973 that one day a person would be able to fly nonstop to Australia, Qatar, Hong Kong (just to name a few), and more than a dozen cities in Europe and South America from this "regional" airport?

Right. When did it become “international?” Did they ever know that it would one day become the third busiest airport in the world? So bizarre!

@@UmmYeahOk It became "International" in 1985.

@@Mark-xl1ze interesting. The road atlas I have has it marked as “regional.” It was printed in 1985, so they just missed it. Also Alaska has some country called USSR next to it.
I use the relic as a backup in case my modern navigation system craps out.

DFW is about to celebrate its 50th anniversary and it's one of a small group of airports worldwide (to my knowledge one of only 4 in the USA) that the airlines serving it fly to over 200 destinations worldwide...

It had to be an outtake because of the excitement

Dallas regional airport? More like dfw airport. That’s not only Dallas. It’s for Fort Worth. Get it right.
