So apparently my pop filter took time off when recording SO SORRY FOR RANDOM POPS!! I will fix for next video. If you wanna be involved subscribe we tryna hit 5k!
J Dilla made either 28 or 29 of the tracks off Donuts while in the hospital. For the most part he only used a record player and his MPC 3000. While Donuts is partly meant to serve as a catalogue of J Dilla's talented musical ability and love for music, it also serves as a final message/love letter to his mother and brother. Some personal favorite moments off the record... Dilla flips the sample on Stop to make "Is that real?" sound like "Is death real?" Don't Cry is my personal pick for greatest song ever made. Though very simple, him chopping the drums with the original song layered on top and tapping out those layered drum samples to make an entirely new song has to be my favorite moment in music. Here's a video of legendary producers 9th Wonder, Flying Lotus, and some others geeking out over this track ruclips.net/video/JeabWifppgI/видео.html Finally, Dilla uses a sample which sounds like "I'll be" on Welcome To The Show as a final message to his family, implying many possibilities. "I'll be" alright. "I'll be" gone. "I'll be" waiting. "I'll be" there with you. I'll be; therefore, I was. J Dilla made Donuts when he was 31 years old. There are 31 tracks. One for each year of his life. Donuts released on Dilla's 32nd birthday. He passed away three days later.
Wow I knew he had layers to his samples but didn’t know it went that deep! Thanks for the write up it was actually very interesting some of these details I knew but I think it really paints the whole picture of donuts 💙
If u liked Illinois I would really suggest javelin or Carrie and Lowell. They’re both amazing albums which make you cry, smile and leave you in awe of his instrumentation work. Great Vid!
@@zeniyuhhe is my favorite drain gang project fs. It’s one of those that might take a few listens to truly click, but you should definitely check it out
Ka has a colab album titled Orpheus Vs The Sirens. Colab is called Hermit and The Recluse. Whole thing is a banger, but Ka’s final verse off The Punishment of Sisyphus… all time great. Check it out!!
Actual good opinions, I would spread out the albums more but if I just took best to worst I would agree with most (I would put homogenic near the top and mbdtf on top)
If you do a part 2 then please listen to Manger On McNichols by Boldy James, it's one of the best jazz rap albums of all time, and if you liked Crest then i really recomend E by Ecco2k
glad to have yt recommend you to me not long after I really started listening to music beyond the radio lol. going to keep an eye out for that community post for sure!
i saw death grips live a while ago-best experience of my lifeeee. also w for ka, never seen anyone talk about him. u should check out volcanic bird enemy or mista thug isolation by lil ugly mane
Of these albums, my favourite is Björk's Homogenic; Jóga on its own gets it there. All the others I've heard are great too; I have over half of these in my CD collection.
Animals 2018 remix by Pink Floyd. My favorite album to listen to at night and every track gives me goosebumps (look a little into the meaning of it before listening).
Nice observation on dummy by saying how “hiphoppy” it is, I too believe this has been a changing point for hiphop beats and sampling, even for artists from other genres like gorillaz. So ahead of its time
Love your videos. If you make one more of this ones i would love you to try some Georgian music, like try "selected works, Vol 1" and "Yup, the sky is definitely on Fire" by Bedford falls (both short EP-s and on spotify). I really want to hear opinion on them by non Georgian speakers.
video idea (not sure if you take unsolicited advice): try to get into an artist or genre using one of those flowcharts that were big on 4chan back in the day
Great video, my favorite album by far is Palmless Prayer/Mass Murder Refrain by MONO, super underrated, would be awesome to see some youtube content on it and i like your vids
Hahahaha, sorry for all the comments. I just enjoy discussing music! If you have not seen it, you should watch the movie Interstellar: 5555. It's an animated film serving as a single massive music video for the entirety of Daft Punk's Discovery album. Great flick! Very fun watch.
Holy shit I haven’t seen the post Well, in case you make a part 2, it’d be OK Computer, but you already listened to it on a video, so take second place: Genesis- Duke (1980)
@@zeniyuhh if you want something closer to your musical taste, Bittersweet Memories by Yun Li absolutely SLAPS I'm not a big fan of rap/hip hop but my God this one is so good, from what I've heard it resembles a lot some of Kanye's work
